In and around the Campground at Tidal River Wilsons Promontory, this Janurary.

Out for a quick walk before breakfast the place was a wonderland of snow -to use the most overused cliche in the book

Shooting red and black in the bright sun can be tricky. Although I never shoot on Auto when using my DSLR, I do use the meter. Depending on the situation, I use my hand-held light meter. If time permits, I will see what the meter displays for the aperature that I wish to use. Then, I'll shoot it. I'll look at it. It's nice to get your eyes used to seeing what a correctly exposed picture is supposed to look like. You can always vary the exposure to your liking after that. If I relied on my spot meter, which I usually use, this would have come out quite differently. Even though my meter chose 2500/sec, I didn't much like that exposure. So after viewing it on the LCD with my Hoodman, (I can't live with it) I chose to increase the exposure to 1250/sec.

So, there you have it. Use your camera meter, hand-held meter, or just look at the back of the camera. That's why we all love digital, right?

Chiquita now smells like teatree oil shampoo. She's very cooperative, I must say.

Having a little fun with some digital manipulation of some of the flowers in our garden...

I typically upload in small sets - don't just look at the latest one in my photostream as you might be missing something you'll like more.... and your comments are ALWAYS welcome :)

The funky flowers of our Leptospermum "Aphrodite". Unlike the other cultivar (we no longer buy cultivars) this one does produce nectar for the insects. :) [Lower Blue Mountains, NSW]

Pink New Zealand Tea Tree

I believe this to be the Small-leaf Tea-Tree (Gaudium parvifolium). This was a beautiful specimen and attracted many pollinators. Seen in the Cumberland Plain, NSW

Another Loveable Leioproctus (Leioproctus amabilis) with a rather greenish hue to her metallic abdomen. [Upper Blue Mountains, NSW]

I've begun to associate end of summer/beginning of autumn with the flowering of this particular type of tea-tree.

Can't. stop. taking. pix. of them.

We were snap-happy at Wilson's Prom. The day was quite sun blasted by the time we started the walk up to the Tidal River Overlook, but the forests, boulders and river were stunning. I've been to Wilson's Prom many times over the years and its beauty hasn't faded for me.
