Tea-gardens in Munnar

Just a cheerful fly enjoying the buffet of flowers all around it! The insects were having a feast on the Leptospermum growing in local bushland. [Lower Blue Mountains, NSW]

Found lovely patches of this marvelous Telaranea on the way up Mt Sprent, in the understorey of a Wooly Teatree (Leptospermum lanigerum) forest. This species is a remarkable Telaranea given it's size. Most species of the genus aren't quite as conspicuous.

Looking up on a clear day.

Stigmodera macularia. Always a treat to see these huge beetles, especially when they take flight as this one did not long after I snapped a photo. Seen in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

From a distance, the flowers on this Tea-tree look wonderfully pink and white. Close up they look like they have some horrendous disease. Gundaroo Common, Gundaroo NSW Australia, April 2011.

On 27 February 1877 the foundation stone of this school was laid by Thomas Bath Esquire of Kooringa. The stone is of Teatree Gully freestone.

Residents of Kooringa, Redruth & Aberdeen and other outlying villages of Burra gathered for the unveiling of the new Burra Hospital as well as the setting of the foundation stone of the Model School.

The school, built on land donated by the South Australian Mining Association, was opened 14 April 1878.

Builder & contractor: Sara and Dunstan.

For the convenience of the Ministry and visitors from Adelaide a special train left town at 10am and arrived at the Burra at 1.40pm.

The afternoon was observed as a general holiday, all the shops in the three townships being closed and the employees of the South Australian Mining Association suspended work at noon.
