For the Crazy Tuesday challenge: "childhood memories"

One of the few things I have from my Grandma is this "Sunday best" afternoon tea set.

Tea with her was quite an ordeal for us children! We had to be on our best behaviour, to be seen but not heard, and ask very softly for a sugar cube!

Grandma rarely spoke of her own life, but she was 'in service' at 'the big house' when she was about 12. She and Grandad must have met there, as he was a joiner/woodworker. And I guess grandma worked in the laundry, as she was meticulous when ironing!

Life is like a Cup of Tea, its all in how you make it ~ Unknown

"Tea time is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate our surroundings."

~ Letitia Baldrige

A lot of the hilly areas in Kerala are home to tea plantations. Clicked at one such place in Wayanad district. Decided to get closer in this one.

The sun and the moon decided that they wanted to meet for tea. They began to debate whether they would meet during twilight or the breaking dawn. Little did they realize that their bickering actually was the start of the first ever eclipse. Ultimately, they decided to have their tea time occasionally through the year, that way, there would be no much pressure and they had a lot of gossips, stories and updates to share with each other.

"Is it just me or do you feel like we are being watched?" Asked the Moon, during one of their tea times.

"I don't think so, stop being paranoid." Retorted the Sun.

"Fine!" She Moon gave in but felt the uneasy feeling that something was happening on earth.

Those weird floating metallic thingies in space that humans sent around seemed to be snapping a lot of photos of their tea times.

Special Mention:-

8f8 always makes things that bring me peace like Slow Down Bench that is part of the Inner Winter set. Also seen in the photo is Trea Time's Jasmine Tea Set that also gave me the best story idea ^^ (Well okay, the Forgotten Secrets's harvest moon in the background helped too >.>)

Jazz, our older cat, sticking its head in a cup of tea. Seemed to have enjoyed it.

Mad Tea Party

Disneyland, California.

I shot several different long exposures but settled with this mere six second one because I liked how you could still make out the teacup in the foreground.

For those that have never been, the Mad Tea Party in Disneyland has no cover so you can see all the spectacles around the ride (Matterhorn, Storybook Canal, Monorail, etc) and the lights are strung overhead with vines growing around them. It was there on opening day in 1955. It's based on the part of the film in Alice in Wonderland where they talk about Unbirthday party scene. Crazy enough the original ride had no brakes or clutches on it. Can you imagine how sick one might get??

BTW today is my very merry Unbirthday! I know, I'm a Disney geek.

Welcome to Edinburgh.

No !, not the Scottish one but the one in Ceylon.

There is this wonderful world of tea in Sri Lanka, where history and flavor blend together like a perfectly steeped "cuppa". Just like a good cup of tea, let's dive right in and explore the fascinating journey of this aromatic beverage in the beautiful island nation.

Sri Lanka, known for its lush landscapes and breathtaking scenery, has been a tea paradise for centuries. The history of tea cultivation in Sri Lanka can be traced back to the 1860s when British planters introduced the first tea plants to the region. They did not succeed too well and had to get specialists from the Assam tea plantations to make it scientific and fool proof. Little did they know that this humble introduction would pave the way for Sri Lanka to become one of the largest exporters of tea in the world.

Nuwara Eliya, often dubbed as "Little England," is a picturesque hill station nestled amidst misty mountains. It is here that you'll find some of Sri Lanka's finest teas. The cool climate and fertile soil create optimal conditions for growing high-quality leaves that are sought after by tea enthusiasts worldwide.

As you sip on your steaming cup of Ceylon tea, also known as Sri Lankan tea, you'll experience a burst of flavors ranging from delicate and floral to bold and robust – each sip transporting you to the sun-kissed rolling hills where it was cultivated with love.

So whether you're a connoisseur looking to expand your collection or simply someone who enjoys a comforting cuppa at any time of day, exploring the world of Sri Lankan tea is an adventure worth embarking on. From its rich history to its enchanting locations like Nuwara Eliya, there's something truly special about experiencing this beloved beverage in its natural habitat.

So go ahead, take a break from your busy day and indulge in a little taste of Sri Lankan charm with every sip. It's time to let your taste buds embark on an unforgettable journey through flavors as vibrant as the island itself. Cheers!
