Dame Anne Louise McIlroy was born in County Antrim on the 11th November 1874 to Dr James McIlroy, a medical practitioner in Ballycastle. She shared her father's enthusiasm for Medicine and came to Glasgow University in 1894 to do a medical degree.
She was one of the first women medical graduates, winning class prizes in both medicine and pathology before obtaining her MB ChB in 1898 followed by an MD with commendation in 1900. After further postgraduate work throughout Europe specialising in Gynaecology and Obstetrics she was appointed Gynaecological Surgeon at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow, a post she held from 1906 to 1910.
At the outbreak of the First World War she and other female medical graduates offered their services to the government. They were declined on grounds of the battlefield being no place for women. Undeterred and determined to help with the war effort this brave group of women applied to the French government and, on being accepted, set up the Scottish Women's Hospital for Foreign Service. Dame McIlroy commanded a unit of the hospital at Troyes in France before being posted to Serbia and three years later Salonika.
During her time in Salonika she established a nurses training school for Serbian girls and oversaw the establishment of the only orthopaedic centre in the Eastern Army. She finished her war service as a Surgeon at a Royal Army Medical Corps hospital in Constantinople. She won many awards in recognition of her services during the war including a French Médaille des Epidemies, French Croix de Guerre avec palme, Serbian Order of St Sava and the Serbian Red Cross. In 1920 she was appointed to the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
After the war she returned for a short time to Glasgow, but left in 1921 when she was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the London School of Medicine for Women, becoming the first woman to be appointed a medical professor in United Kingdom. She faced opposition at times in this role, being as she was a graduate from a different medical school and one outside of London. She was undaunted by the task, however, and became an inspiring teacher.
She also worked as a Surgeon at the Marie Curie Hospital for Women during this period. Her services to Midwifery were recognised in 1929 when she was appointed Dame of the British Empire. Her achievements were also recognised by universities in the form of honorary degrees, being awarded a DSc from London, an LLD from Glasgow and DSc from Belfast, which as an Ulster woman she was particularly proud of.
She retired in 1934, to have, in her own words 'a few years of freedom'. She felt strongly though about doing her duty and when war was declared she immediately offered her services, despite being well past retirement age. She organised emergency maternity services in Buckinghamshire and, showing her generous nature, selflessly took her own property to provide equipment and comforts at the hospital in the face of the inevitable shortages. After the Second World War she returned to her retirement, residing with her sister in Turnberry, Ayrshire. She died peacefully in a Glasgow hospital on 8th February 1968.
In her obituaries at the time friends and colleagues remembered her fondly as in innovator and shrewd clinician whose personal charm and dignity shone through. Her achievements show that she truly was a pioneer of women in medicine, who, as one colleague recalls, expected no less from her staff;
"Dame Louise was a hard taskmaster. She expected, and got, the very best from her staff; praise and criticism were justly awarded. To have worked for and with her was a privilege truly sought after by young aspiring specialists."
Dame Anne Louise McIlroy was a remarkable woman who gave so much during the two world wars. Her achievements have left their mark on the medical profession, shaping the way for future generations and ensuring that her legacy will live on.

Mortal Recoil: Total Recall – The Life of Meaning in the Carnal Nation ~
If you are an immortal being living through a succession of mortal lifetimes, why can’t you remember your past? If we’re all in control of our own destinies, how and why have we decided to forget?
Where do you go when you’re asleep? How do you ‘go to sleep’? Are you the same person when you wake up? Can you remember who you were yesterday? How much of your own childhood do you remember? How much of last month – last year?
Have you ever experienced anything you wanted to forget? Have you ever wished you could start your life all over – with a blank slate?
If I want to remember my previous lives, I must explore memory itself to pass through the waters of forgetfulness and reach the dawn of illumination. I must expand and refine my recollections of this life, sorting truth from accretion and memory from fantasy. I must divine for truth as a dowser divines for hidden water or minerals.
I must learn how to tell truth from falsehood, illusion and self-delusion – and continually practice this art, by being my harshest critic and taskmaster and my most compassionate mentor and friend. I must develop a very sensitive bullshit detector and an expansive sense of empathy for the blind sleepwalkers all around me.
I can’t expect the world to make much impression on me if I’m living a half-waking dream all my life – if the reality revealed by my senses is always passing me by, drowned out by the incessant commentary always running through my mind. I have to be certain I’m awake to know I’m not dreaming a vivid fantasy.
I have to be here now if I want to actually experience my life. I have to be mindful of what’s really happening inside me and all around me. To do that, I have to stop my thoughts, or alternately separate my self from the eternal chatter of the surface veneer of my identity – the acculturated monkey mind and emotions that have grown with me since I was swimming in my mother’s womb.
I have to find a deeper wellspring within, beyond the unending entertainments that distract me from life itself. I have to silence the chatter or remove myself from its internal influence, by locating my self in the centre of the eternal cyclone of thought and emotion.
I have to know who it is who goes to sleep and wakes up every night and every day.
I have to know the true meaning of the word ‘meditation’, which has nothing whatever to do with thinking. I have to find out who it is that’s doing all the thinking – or being distracted by it!
I have to open my mind to all the things that the purblind natives of this dawning New Millennium deny and exclude from their blinkered tunneled visions – the realities filtered out by hidebound neo-feudal cultures that stubbornly refuse to observe anomalies, discrepancies and outright disproof of their common beliefs and quaint ‘scientific’ notions.
If I want to have a life I have to walk away from the screen when I finish reading this and explore reality – if my memory span extends that far!
If I am not the sum of my thoughts, beliefs, habits and culture, then what am I? What is within me that survives to carry on?
Am I a projection into this four dimensional TimeSpace, a partial expression of an expanded being, who simultaneously dwells throughout many other dimensions as well? Am I part of something and someone that dwells in all the hyperspaces and parallel continua that we know exist (in implicate, interconnected conjunction with the reality we can see, hear, feel, smell and taste with our terrestrial time-bound senses), from the observations of physics and the realities implicit in geometry? And from the subtle magic of synchronicity and coincidence…
When you realise your mind isn’t yours and your consciousness isn’t confined to the cave of your skull, it’s easy to see how an apparently finite, mortal, death-bound being could in fact be a virtual extension of something else entirely. You can access all these realms and dimensions by expanding y/our consciousness. And paradoxically, this is facilitated by concentrating on the smallest things – or nothing at all.
Staying alive and aware is a continual weaning process. Potty training only ends in infancy in primitive societies full of throwaway people with short lives and attention spans, whose purpose is simply to maintain a dreaming gene-pool. Gaining complete control of your breathing, digestive system, heartbeat, brain activity, fertility and all other physical parameters is well within the capabilities of most children. It’s the way out of the matrix.
Almost all those who could have taught us how to escape the prisons of our cultures by exploring our own nature were burned at the stake or stoned to death by our superstitious grandparents or forebears – but the techniques are implicit in the forms and functions of our bodies; a true seeker will always find a way, and will be helped along by the indivisible invisible hands of those who’ve preceded you, if your mind and heart are in the right place. In a universe where memory is truly ineradicable, lost techniques and memories can be recovered and resurrected.
In our primitive superstition-ridden cultures of the early New Millennium – in which people are automatically taught to be suspicious and afraid of their own bodies and sexuality – most humans don’t even know where their physical organs are located after a decade of ‘education’. How can we expect to have any idea of what we are when we’re encouraged not to look at (or touch) our selves or each other? How can we find our true nature (or even nature itself) if we allow ourselves to be continually distracted by bullshit and melodrama? Will we find ourselves in a sitcom or ‘reality’ show? Do clothes make the woman? How’s the attention span going?
If you want to be cleansed of unpleasant memories or the pitiful painful results of an unexamined life and self-destructive lifestyle, an easy way is to cut off all your sensory inputs. You can do this by staying in a sensory deprivation chamber, by taking opiates, by going to sleep or by dying. If you remain in a sensory deprivation chamber for a couple of weeks your mind will be washed clean – unless you’re particularly adept at meditation – and a womb makes an excellent sensory deprivation chamber, washing you in the warm waters of forgetfulness for months.
Some philosophers suggest that if people knew they were immortal, we’d all automatically be aware of the laws of karma and dharma and practice the Golden Rule. But immortality is no impediment to free will. We all have many of the same motivations to be creative, honourable and compassionate or cruel, uncaring and destructive, whether we have a small single life or a big multiplex one. Regardless of whether you’re immortal or not, the same ethical questions apply; and either way, you can’t leave yourself behind and wherever you go, there you are, for as long as you are you. It’s an excellent motivation for changing the things in yourself you aren’t comfortable with – and a terrible lesson for would-be suicides.
In the folklore of forgetfulness, the amnesiac is compelled to relive aspects of the events they have forgotten; he who forgets the lessons of his story is condemned to repeat them. Until full waking memory relinks the past with the future, the amnesiac is trapped in a cycle of repetition – and hell is often defined as repetition.
Yet immortality provides a wider and deeper perspective into the connectedness of all things and beings, and this does make a fundamental difference to our beliefs, motives and actions. In the absolute centre of the cyclone, I am you, and we are Divine.
Who are you again? Are you distracted yet? What’s that over there?
Your parents and grandparents were happy and satisfied to be lied to and cheated by those who still get away with stealing the wealth and knowledge of the Earth (and everywhere else) for themselves – are you?

Shoe shine:
It was Irwin and John by black friend who encouraged and showed me how to set up and work. I shared there spot on Southern boulevard just across the street from Michael Handler decorators. I was only in this business for two weeks when I somehow I got the idea to go to the store s ON the Boulevard and ask for a job. Mr. Silverman offered me a job and ended my shoe shinning career. My box then became a fixture in our house, which we used to clean all our shoes. Of course my dad helped too because his father had been a professional shoe shine man.
Newspaper boy: I delivered papers for the New York Post. To the worst smelly and dirty houses and apartments on different routes. Until I was robbed by a older boy at knifepoint. It was collection day and he got all my money. My father went with me to the dispatch of the Post and told him what happened. They said I still owed them the money and would not help. My father encouraged me to stop the job.
Driver:
My Dad taught me to drive. He also taught me how to be a chauffeur and behave well with passengers and be concerned about stopping gently and accelerating calmly and not jerking a car full of passengers. Loading the car with suitcases and trunks was also an art and he taught me to load big pieces first, etc. Also, how to drive both aggressively to cope with and insert yourself in traffic and defensively to avoid accidents, etc. Somehow I learned at an early age that driving, like flying and many other tasks that were ahead of me, was a matter of mile/flown; miles/driven; lines drawn; dots/ made; words/spelled: the more of any thing you did the better you got at the thing you were doing. I can remember driving passengers, who would remark how calm and controlled I was when the tire would go flat due to a blow out; or how well I handled argumentative passengers, etc. As time went on I improved. Being a drive taught me good work ethics and disciple with people under stress. I was the captain of the ship. Loading the trunk and the racks was also a science, which my father taught me. Load the biggest first and then the medium and then the small. Use the roof top rack for emergency loads only and load according to the way you will drop off passengers so as to minimize the handling of the luggage. This will preserve your strength, which you will need for the needed work.
Store Keeper and Sales
Debrose, Maple furniture and Sealy Mattress:
At Debrose I learned to gift wrap by Mrs. Rose Silverman including building the boxes, tearing off the right amount of gift paper, folding and wrapping the paper, inserting the tissue and protecting the gift and closing the boss and tying with a ribbon and even trimming and curling the ribbon for decorative effects. For a long time she would not let do the twirling but finally she let me. I learned to clean and inventory the bolts of fabrics, cut the plywood, pack the kapok, staple to fabric to make the cornices. I would then go with Mr. Silverman to carry the cornices and valance boards to apartments to hang them. I n the store I would help Mr. Silverman display the gifts he and Mrs. S would buy at the gift shows. We even carried my Aunt Rose’s lampshades and lamps. I learned to wash the windows, clean the toilets, wash the floors and make pick up and deliveries to the jobbers. Workshops and customers in heat of summer, rain, snow and ice. Often I’d walk ten blocks or more to these places down Southern Boulevard to one and up Southern Boulevard. There was my bus trips to Bright Star on Webster Ave and later to classic at west 165 st. near third Ave. Occasionally I had to go with the subway to suppliers for a special order to lower Manhattan.
My tenure at the Maple furniture Store was short and sweet because I was so fatigued standing on my feet and suffocated because there was no air in the place. Further, I could not remember all the prices and combinations of suits, options and alternates. The owners were so nice to me and we parted very friendly.
Selling mattress was a part time night job I took at Pratt to earn money for basically being a caretaker. The few customers who came in simply looked and I was able to sell them mattress by showing them the prices on models, which were self explanatory and known commodities. I used the saying taught to my by Rose Silverman “Buyer beware”. I mean to say before you by make sure it s what you want. There are no guarantees beyond that. The customer’s gave me a deposit and I’d give them a receipt. I ‘d lick it in a safe place and the storeowner was very please with my work and sales. It was a shop in downtown Brooklyn so I got to see that area and it was fairly easy to get t o and from ON a bus and sometime the train.
Hanger: My teachers were Mr. Allen Silverman, Harry, Joe Shenker, Stanley Summers and Herman Schulman. Loading the car and routing the day’s trips is critical, especially in snow and rain. Having the right tools and equipment ready for drilling into concrete, puncturing ceiling with no supports, and pinning down the pleats were critical to getting in and out of the house quickly. Stanley and Herman taught me to keep my mouth shut and not answer any complaints so that I can make time. Also, under no circumstances ever leave the house with out the money, therefore making sure as I entered to give the customer the bill and discuss the balance due immediately? On Christmas they gave me $100 bonus in cash. Herman always told me he liked me and wanted me to be happy.
I also measured and was ready to take an order for additional work if that were requested. Oh yes, and to get a deposit. I would do about seven installations in a day and when I did this as a contractor at $1/foot for 12 feet per visit, I could earn about $100/day which when going to school was the way to go. I earned a lot working for stores in Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx. I also learned to avoid requests to hang in the projects, etc. where I would face concrete. It was awful to drill overhead, hitting pebbles or steel.
I had a great toolbox with all kinds of bits and pieces to improvise.
Harry was a skinny short guy who was experienced and methodical. His intelligence was well beyond any thing I could hope to accomplish. He could install, make cornices and cut slipcovers. He was a wonder man. He taught me some lessons, which I could share with you; for example, before you go up the ladder apprise, plan and equip yourself for every thing that will happen once you are up in the air. Avoid coming down until the task you ascended is accomplished. This meant having a very good apron in which to store things and a very well filled and organized toolbox. It also meant having routines and repeat tasks and accompanied tools and supplies for each task. Harry was so calm, cool and collected; eventually, he’d let me go up on the ladder and do tasks while he’d cut the slip covers so we’d be in and out of the customers house in a minimum of time. Oh yes, he taught me to exude a nice demeanor and other wise keep my mouth shut. Less is more. I was able to apply the lessons Harry taught me for the rest of my life.
Soliciting on the phone:
Bob Wolff taught me how to solicit on the phone; a skill I have used in so many ways and circumstances. I selected a code name as alias which when incoming we’d know the subject. I would have queue cards with all the things I would say such as how to introduce myself and the reason for my call. Etc. Then I would keep index cards for each person I called and make notes at to their reactions and need for follow up etc. I did this for Buildesign one or two days per week while attending Pratt. On alternate days I would design and supervise construction. Other times I would visit the potential client with Bob to close the deal or measure to make and estimate to carry out the work. Later I used Bob’s system to search for employment, raise money at LME and Grace English Lutheran Church, AlFoadia, CDE, alMuhaidib, etc.
Drafting: The key elements to the skill and craft of drafting are to clean the drafting table very well before lying down and taping the paper. Selecting the correct paper for the task will precipitate the choice of the correct led and accessories. When I draw I always keep my pencil super sharp and clean and I begin at first with light guidelines. When most of the layout is nearing completion I begin to darken the lines and the details. I leave any lettering and cross hatching till last to avoid smudging and further erasing. Once I am sure about the text to be added to the sheet or detail I then tick of f the spacing I will add for the guidelines needed for the lettering.
My role as draftsman has ranged from copying, tracing, editing and originating drafting for my own details, layouts and design. From the time I first learned to draft at Pratt in “Construction” class taught by Joseph Merz till my last drafting effort I have regarded drafting and draftsman with respect due to a master craftsman. I regard my work and that of other draftsman as works of art and beauty. The line quality, detail and control of the media are aesthetic and artistic.
Unfortunately, I have not had the benefit of learning CAD (computer aided design) so that I am no longer serviceable in this profession today. I have not made the effort to learn because I realize it would take a lot of effort and dedication, which I can only do if I am employed in an office where I can both learn, and execute.
The discipline of drafting is based on being the instrument of the designer, architect, etc. there is a vocabulary of symbols, words, etc. to conform to so that the common laborer can read the drawings. It cannot be dissimilar to others so that it takes another interpreter to decipher what is on the sheets.
I also learned from men whose entire life was speant as drafts man that drafting was a noble and respected profession. A profession with a code of ethics and inherent responsibilities. In each office I worked there was a chief draftsman and my colleagues and usually a captain and supervisor.
For example the chief draftsman at D for B taught not to ask questions, figure it out your self. It is your job to learn what you do not know by studying the drawing, all the documents, the references, standard details, and then build the information into details, plans, sections, etc. Asking questions was opting out of the process and leaning on others to do your work. At first he chided and scolded me but after, I learned to spend my breaks and lunch hours with him and the boys I he began to see that I was just dumb and did not know the rules, but that I was a very willing student and quick learner. As time passed we became best friends and helped me at every chance he could to make my jobs turn out right and get the cooperation of his staff.
He showed me the use of standard details and how to relay upon colleagues to use office and industry standards.
Others taught me drawing techniques,
The word Techne basically means to reify and enable and is very difference form content and ideas. I basically enjoyed being such a technician. I learned a great deal of skills; short cuts and methods form my co-workers. By the time I reached Yale I was a professional draftsman and offices in the area were eager to employ me and my fellow students asked me to teach or help them with there work.
Draftsman have different tile and I have worked as design draftsman, working drawing draftsman, and detail draftsman for both interior and building design; and furniture.
Most of the lessons I learned came from copying, observing and begging the other experienced draftsman to teach me some little thing. I already was an excellent draftsman, faster and more skilled than most. The were just so experienced for having done the same thing over and over for there whole lifetime. To this day I am in solemn respect for the boys and girls in the back room because of the collective time and personal relationships I had with the draftsman in all the offices I worked. In a way I have never stopped being a draftsman in spirit and concept. Whenever I start a design, or task I always think of the rudiments of the board and nobility of the task ahead. I remember, Ed Dickman, Ed Penn and Joe Troccio, etc. so many others. I can see myself they’re with them, learning, competing, concerned about our taskmasters, and the deadlines, breaks and the quality of our product. There still some draftsman whose drafting I will never be able to match and with t onslaught of the computer and CAD realize that I have my limits. It also helped me to know the limits of my other abilities and to compare this, which I do well with other skills, which I do less well. IT has been my best friend and measure of truth, craft, honesty and integrity.
I worked both part and full time as a draftsman in New York City
Offices before and while attending Yale and before we left New York and went to Jackson, Tennessee for such offices as Morris Lapidus (he published my drafting work in his book on Office Practice), Kahn and Jacobs, Edward D Stone, Jarus, Baum and Bolles, Richard F. Heyer, Caproni Assoc.; Antonozzi Assoc., and several others. I used both t-squares and parallel bars. One of my job searches too me to the Flat Iron Building where I was interviewed with the offices of McKim, Mead, and white. I was so thrilled as they still used all the old equipment such as hand made wooded t squares and triangles, slide rules, green eyes shades and arm garters to hold up there sleeves, etc.
In the offices I worked and from my teachers I learned not only the rudiments and standards of drafting but also its art and style; to draft with elegance and pride of a work well done. Where a composition had depth and balance, and communicated the information with out ambiguity and confusion. Where a reader could understand the materials, placement, scale and dimension with our confusion.
Drafting is also a very social kind of work where draftsman, chief draftsman, job captains, etc. really share a common experience and try to help and assist one another. It is in this work I met people like Ed Dickman, Ed Penn, Robert Jacobs, Alan Lapidus, Eugene B. Kaletsky’s, Leo, Joe Trocio, Kyro Kyritsis, Richard Heyer, Duncan Stewart, form Ireland, an Israeli girl, Peter Dapont, Tom Vitagliano, Jim Martin, a male white witch, and so many others.
I even had a drafting business at Yale so that we were able to earn money doing this kind of work
Plans Examiner:
Robert Stewart, Lee County’s Building Official taught me how to examine plans in a way that I can be both productive and accurate. He also taught me how to behave with the general public. I have had to learn and use various county intranet and Internet computer programs to add and find information on each of the cases I am assigned. My evaluation has included that I am one of the most productive in the department. The key to answering phone call and meeting people is to speak very softly and divert complaints to Bobby’s assistant. This is similar to what Stanley Summers taught me that when in a customer’s home hanging drapes be very nice, clam and don’t make too much small talk; and, if there is any complaints suggest that the customer call the office.
Marketing and Sales:
Mr. Jizawi taught me how to approach potential clients not by technique but by attitude, which he himself exuded and demonstrated. I learned from him the importance of “relationships”.
Artist:
In his book; Undressed Art, Why We Draw, Peter Steinhart explores why some of us keep on drawing-and what happens when we do. I draw a great deal, even when I speak. I tend to illustrate concepts with pen and in or pencil. It comes as easy as speech.
Combining the scientific, the historical, the anecdotal and the persona, Steinhart asks some provocative questions: Why do drawings often speak to us more eloquently than paintings? What is the mind doing when we draw? Why is so much drawing of the face and of the nude figure? What is the dynamic between a clothed artist and a naked model? I painted for one year at Pratt using nude models and found the experience very difficult because I am not a good painter,
Steinhart makes clear that, at its best, drawing is a spontaneous expression of what we see, an "undressed art" unencumbered by affectation or calculated fashion. And he reveals its many rewards: it helps us to focus, to slow down, and to really see the world and ourselves. At once erudite and engaging,
"Why does the human animal, alone of all creation, have the ability -- and the primal need -- to represent the world, as filtered through the senses and the intellect and the soul, in the form of drawings?
A naturalist by trade, Steinhart brings a keen scientific manner to the main question of "why we draw.". He also delves into the famous left-brain, right-brain theory of artistic creativity, discussed in books such as Betty Edwards's classic Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Steinhart also looks at ways in which our culture respects or devalues the act of drawing." One of the most demeaning of acts society plays ON me is the comment that the person addressing me cannot draw and I am so talented as though I am some other species. It’s better not to hear these things.
"Drawing is a way of communicating with the world, of listening to what the world has to say and answering back," author Peter Steinhart suggests. Most of my drawing is conversational and explanatory. I doodle and most of my doodles are geometric and surrealistic cubes and out of scale life forms or humorous characters of some thing some one said.
Much of drawing career has been professional and its products sold or exhibited in some gallerys or shop. Otherwise, I draw at my students and clients desk to explain concepts and ideas.
Barbara Allen and a fellow musician of Saul’s drew compulsively pictures of faces in all sorts of anguish.
We all draw as children: we scrawl a sun beamed circle for a face and dots for eyes, and then we move on to portraits of Mom with an upside-down U for hair and Dad with trousers up to his armpits. But sooner or later, almost everyone stops.
Steinhart makes clear that, at its best, drawing is a spontaneous expression of what we see, an “undressed art” unencumbered by affectation or calculated fashion. And he reveals its many rewards: it helps us to focus, to slow down, and to really see the world and ourselves.
Drawing helps me coordinate my eye to my hand so that I see the thing I am drawing as it physically is as space, mass, volume, form and shape. To my eye drawing changes the world to is skeletal structure of axis, tension, balance and relationships between . the process of stating form points and dots to completing details has many stages in between and much like a Yoga asana of disciplined seeing and coordination involved with breathing and loosing the metaphorical and thought story for the structure, light and form of the subject. Many like Steinhart go beyond what is necessary to understand art to explain something else using art as an example.
While at Yale a fellow student commissioned us to paint a mural ON the front of shop in the new New Haven Shopping Mall.
At an art show in Tennessee a heavy set young women commissioned me to paint water colored Elephants.

After having met the organizer and prepared for Christina’ possible involvement I thought it wise to know more about all of this so I decided to contact each and every artist and interview them and publish the results of my interviews. My primary motivation for this was so that Christina could get to know the artist and understand the new media. So we di. I developed a format based ON the out line I used for Peter Milliard’s assignments at school for programming a work of architecture and simply asked them question in the guideline. All of the artists were very cooperative and we met them at their studios and lofts. Christina did get to know them and we both learned a great deal about
To the surprise of probably nobody that knows my habits, I preordered what is probably the last Scarlett Johansson Black Widow Figuarts release - of course, I'm speaking of the one for her movie, which we would have seen by now under normal circumstances.
Interestingly enough though, despite being seen in at least two costumes, there was only one Widow figure solicited, and the entire movie only generated two figures - Widow and Taskmaster, which I didn't bother to get.
A bit about the box art first.. bottom right hand corner of the front shows Natasha with her hair down, but wearing the black costume. So for those keeping score, that's now potentially four different hair styles I've seen within the scope of one movie, which will make things interesting if Hot Toys decides to actually make anything for this movie.
If you bought the Endgame release of Natasha, you're basically already familiar with the payload - there's the figure in her all new suit and one of several hair new hair styles, no additional faces this time, two baton handles for her backpack, two batons, one sickle, two empty holsters, two pistols, two filled holsters, Widow's Bite effects mounted on two fists, and pretty much the same extra hands (except her left hand no longer has the Quantum Watch).
If the face looks familiar, it's because she's had that face since Infinity War, and somehow I think maybe Tamashii Nations intended it to be a two faced package, but the same MSRP as before, might have nixed that idea.
If you look at the profile view of her head, you'll see the surgical scars there.
Otherwise, you'll notice that the batons and the handles have paint on them this time, which was not present on the Endgame version (not in the movie anyway) but was lacking from the Infinity War version, and naturally the paint is on the sickles.
A bit more before we move on from comparisons to the previous versions.
You'll notice that this version of Nat is shorter than previously. After a bit of staring.. and more staring, I FINALLY arrived at the conclusion she's not shorter, she's just not wearing platform boots anymore.
Finally, I don't know what happened, but the Endgame version ended up looking much more jaundiced compared to both her predecessor and her successor. Thank goodness they fixed that because it certainly wasn't a one time thing, seeing how my backup Endgame Nat has the same complexion.
The new Widow suit appears to be a very stylized version of her comic suit, including finally gold accents, and she gains some neat elbow pads. It'll be interesting to see if they explain how her movie suits evolve into the IW ensemble that displeased many a viewer, as it appears to borrow many elements from her Endgame outfit, despite taking place between Civil War and Infinity War.
I don't know what to make of her hair. I mean, it's hair.. it's red.. so I guess that's a good start. Her massive ponytail is well detailed and painted for something of this scale. It just feels to me that they might have made her head too square at the forehead and the overall shape of her hair, making her head seem a tad undersized. The ponytail is relatively pliable, so you don't have to worry about it snapping off easily.
Articulation is effectively identical to what Endgame got you - toes, ankles, double jointed knees, hips on ball joints with a floating crotch section for improved range of motion, waist, mid torso, shoulders with some collapse and bicep swivel, single jointed elbows with forearm pivot, wrists, neck, and head. Her upper torso (bust to neck) has more restrictions on range of motion compared to Endgame as she no longer has that gap at the bottom of the piece and her abs.
The good news is that she looks slightly better from the side with fuller bust.
Paint work is once again an area with no real concerns (especially since I'm going forward in time for a review for once). The base black that Nat has all over the body is smooth, and there are no concerns I have to raise with regards to the gold, silver, and red accents on her body, though some of the silver paint on her weapons have seen better days (arguably the fault of the less than stellar finish).
Hands are consistent, which is to say they've been.. alright. You can tell they're fingers and that's about it - the Figma guys definitely have a better product from this perspective.
Hair and face I touched up on earlier. Solid stuff, especially with a decent Scar Jo sculpt and that digital painting stuff that has been working well for the past three iterations (AoU, IW, Endgame) and the new healthy complexion.
Finally there's build quality.. which strangely enough feels a slight step back. There's the anal retentive stuff (to my fingers, the box feels flimsier), and then there's the fact this is first Marvel Figuarts I've picked up that actually had a joint pop apart (fortunately it was something you could snap back together) and the left arm actually popped out of the socket (again, easily reassembled)
There are no other issues with QC (the rough finish on the baton handles were probably always there, just no paint to highlight them). The plastic itself definitely feels softer than Endgame (bringing it back more in line with Infinity War) and this is probably due to the lack of extensive fine textures, which were prevalent on the Endgame suit.
Well that about wraps it up for this Widow. It's still pretty good, despite trading aesthetics for articulation, having only one face, and some minor quality quips. She won't be the one travelling with me (my Endgame Nat is already play worn, so not point damaging another figure) but she'll be at home in the horde, keeping order when I'm not around.

The Force General Order of 7th June 1892 written by Chief Constable McHardy (scroll down for transcript) notifying the move (and change of rank) in respect of "Big Sandy" Chisholm - and the detailed reasons therefor - plus the knock-on effects in respect of the hierarchy of the force.
----------
Alexander Chisholm, known as “Big Sandy”, had worked as an Ostler (stableman) before leaving his home in the Invercannich area of Inverness-shire (west of Beauly, at the mouth of Glen Affric) to join the Inverness-shire Constabulary. Appointed as a Constable on 19 March 1879, Sandy was 26 when he donned the navy blue uniform, and was immediately assigned to cover the “Dores District” of the County.
Dores is a village on the eastern shore of Loch Ness, just a few miles south of the town (now City) of Inverness. His patch would have included the rural area on the outskirts of Inverness and he was likely to have been based at Force HQ at Inverness Castle, rather than having a house and station within his beat. Dores was one of the locations sufficiently close to HQ to enable junior officers to patrol while still learning the job under close supervision from Chief Constable William Murray.
After 3 months getting used to wearing the uniform ,he was moved to the County’s busiest town of Fort William, on the west coast at the southern end of the Great Glen. Although Inverness was by far the largest conurbation, it did not actually lie in the County of Inverness, as the town (and Royal Burgh) was a separate local authority area, complete with its own Burgh Police. In fact the County HQ, at Inverness Castle, was located within Inverness Burgh but was actually an exclave of the County within the Burgh boundaries. The Burgh and County Police Headquarters were less than 50 yards apart, one on the Castle Hill and the other lying at the foot of that hill. The detailed mention of the Castle will be explained later.
Sandy then spent a year in Fort William, under the tutelage of the very experienced Inspector Lachlan Mackintosh. Mackintosh had been one of the original constables appointed when the Inverness-hire force was reconstituted in March 1858, and a brief period as a Constable at Kingussie, he was appointed Inspector at Fort William in May 1859. So he had been there almost from the very beginning, and his 20 years of experience and local knowledge would have been passed on to the young Chisholm.
After a year in “The Fort” Sandy was given his own station – Spean Bridge, just north of Fort William but at an important and strategic location at the west end of Glen Spean, where the Inverness/Fort William/Glasgow road meets the only road running to the west coast from Kingussie/Dalwhinnie (on what is now the A9 Inverness/Perth Road). Some three miles up that (Glen Spean -Laggan) road, lies the village of Roy Bridge.
Chief Constable Murray (who had set up the force in 1858) retired in October 1882, by which time Inspector MacKintosh was feeling his age and had negotiated his standing down to Constable (and moving to the remote station at Knoydart) where he would remain until 1891 (by which time police pensions had been introduced). To fill the vacancy for an Inspector at Fort William, Murray had promoted Sergeant Archibald Matheson from Beauly.
The new Chief Constable as Alexander ("Alister") McHardy, who had been Chief Constable of the County of Sutherland since 1866, and he had clearly been brought in to lead the force – and double its manpower - through what was already shaping up to be a turbulent time . Civil unrest was already rife in respect of land ownership and use - across the whole of the Highlands & Islands, and in particular in Inverness-shire, the largest Highland county.
McHardy immediately set about reshaping and enlarging the force and was clearly very impressed with “Big Sandy”, promoting him to Sergeant in August 1883. With Sandy having less than 5 years service, this was a major action on Mr McHardy’s part, so the new Sergeant had been identified as having great potential.
The rank of Sergeant was not one Mr Murray had much time for – or he was not permitted to use it. At set-up of the force, he had been allowed four supervisors, namely a Superintendent (Deputy Chief Constable) at Inverness to also command the Inverness Division, and three Inspectors – one each to manage the other Divisions of Skye, Lochaber and Long Island (Outer Hebrides). He had also eventually managed to achieve 3 Sergeant posts, in Portree, Beauly and Kingussie. McHardy took the bull by the horns. He was in 1883 authorised to take on 50 new men (the force establishment was only 44 when he arrived) and he needed supervisors to marshal these new recruits. He did indeed recruit the full 50 new starts during 1883, albeit 11 men went “down the road” in that same year for a variety of reasons.
After almost a year as Sergeant, Sandy was moved into Fort William, a much more tidy arrangement in McHardy’s view in order to be on the sport to cover for the Inspector, so that one or other would always in the Station to keep command while the other might be far away in a distant part of the scattered division.
During his time in Lochaber Sandy met and married a young schoolteacher, and in June 1887 they had to up sticks and move, as Sandy was transferred to Force Headquarters in Inverness, where he would be in daily charge of the officers posted around the rural area in the environs of Inverness. Force HQ (Inverness Castle) also included living quarters, and here their son Alexander Joseph was born in 1888.
The following year, the Deputy Chief constable Donald Aitchison had to retire through ill-health and Mr McHardy promoted “Big Sandy” to Superintendent to take his place on 25th October 1889. This was a shock to the system for “Big Sandy”, as much of his work would entail “driving a desk” rather than being out and about in the fresh air with his men. McHardy too was a hard taskmaster, leading by example – but able to tutor too as he had been Deputy Chief himself in two forces. For some reason, Sandy was not officially designated Deputy Chief Constable until 28/9/91 – it may be that McHardy did not realise a separate appointment (ratified by the Police committee) was necessary.
Big Sandy’s health was clearly suspect by this time, doubtless exacerbated by the desk jockey role. Fate then intervened however, when Inspector Matheson at Fort William died in February 1982, aged only 53.
To explain developments from then, who better than – in his own fair hand, as duplicated and notified to all members of the force on 7th June 1892 – none other than Chief Constable McHardy himself:-
------------------
Inverness-shire Constabulary
Memorandum to the force
Promotion, Rates of Pay etc
Supt & Dep. CC Alexander Chisholm, who was during Summer & Autumn suffering much from ill-health caused by Office work & consequent confinement was on the death of the late Inspector Matheson, Fort William, in Feb'y last sent to Fort William for a change & to take charge of that Division for a time. The Superintendent has during his stay at Fort William found his health thoroughly restored, and being medically advised has requested to be relieved of the rank and duties of Supt, and appointed an Inspector in the Force, and being satisfied that if he returned to Office work his health would again be injured, the Chief Constable has agreed to change the rank of Supt Chisholm to that of Inspector and has placed him at Fort William in charge of that Division.
Supt Macaulay: Consequent on the appointment of Inspector Chisholm as above, Inspector Malcolm Macaulay has been promoted to rank of Supt and appointed Dep. C.C. at Headquarters.
PC Keith Webster promoted to Sergeant at Headquarters in charge of the Home Section
PC William MacInnes promoted to Sergeant vice Sergeant A.B. MacLennan retired on pension.
PC High Chisholm promoted Det. Sergeant vice Macaulay promoted
The following are now the Headquarters Divisional and Section Officers of the Force:-
Headquarters: Supt & Dep. C.C. Malcolm Macaulay
Office clerk Sergeant James Philip
Det Sergeant Hugh Chisholm
Sergeant Keith Webster
---------------------
So it seemed everybody was happy – albeit McHardy managed to “mislay” an Inspector post, meantime replacing it with Detective Sergeant – the first such mention of the word “Detective” in the force.
As Inspector for Lochaber “Big Sandy” was apparently in his element, and his health did indeed remain improved. He and his growing family occupied the “County Buildings” (Police Station) in Fort William, and son Alexander Joseph (Alister) would eventually join the force in 1908, although the two men never served together at the same place.
Big Sandy died in service, at the age of 62, on 10th January 1915 and is buried in Cille Choirill churchyard in Roy Bridge .
The Chisholm family were clearly good friends with the MacFarlane family from Spean Bridge, and Big Sandy’s son (Alister, of whom more later) would marry into that family. Peter MacFarlane took over the chemist shop in Fort William, and also established a photographic business, which likely explains the superb photographic studies of the Chisholm police officers.
I am most grateful to Mr Peter Chisholm (grandson of “Big Sandy” and son of Alister) for allowing me to copy and use these photographs and documents, and to Big Sandy's great-grandson Alister McDermott (another retired police officer) for putting me in touch with Peter.
I guess to no ones surprise, the solo movie Black Widow Hot Toy figure made its way into my collection. I guess ultimately I could have waited for it to drop to fire sale prices like I usually do, but 5 years might be a long time to wait.
Besides, there's still that Snowsuit version for me to win at.
So where to start - I guess by saying that this took a while, of course. Ordered the standard version through a dealer, as I didn't feel the Taskmaster shield warranted the extra bucks. Who knows - maybe Taskmaster (spoilers) herself will show up here one day.
As Hot Toys seems to have abandoned the art of rooted hair, this figure features hair in soft pliable plastic. Is it the most accurate reproduction? No, of course not - but I will say it's not terrible, and some effort was put into sculpting some strands of loose hair for that more dynamic look.
The face... well, it's a step in the right direction, considering the step backwards the Endgame one was. It's still off, but at least they gave her age appropriate facial detailing, as well as actually looking human.
Still can't touch that CW/IW sculpt, though.
Detailing on the suit is nice. This time around, the suit basically a decorated nylon body suit, which doesn't look too bad and is definitely a few steps above some of the third part stretch suits that end up looking like bad cosplay. However due to the various plastic/rubber parts, as well as the body itself, articulation as per a human being isn't fully realized. The only real improvement over the Endgame figure would actually be the arm, which are now pretty much unrestricted.
Paint work is on point, both costume and headsculpt wise.
Perhaps the most amusing aspect of this paint is that Hot Toys went so far as to paint her fingernails. Not flesh tone or lacquer to they would resemble fingernails. No - instead what we have is a conscious choice of.. it looks like a pearl copper or something.
With regards to Build Quality, it's kind of weird. The most complicated parts, the pistols and the batons, have all the functional parts you'd expect. The slide on the pistol with the scope doesn't feature a spring, so you can actually do photos of Widow with a spent pistol if you should so choose to. Detailing work is fantastic. You can even interchange the tips on the batons to suit your bludgeoning needs.
The new ankles, however, are giving me a bit of grief. Meant to improve articulation and general appearance when in a wide legged stance, I find these new ankles are kind of loose, and causes the figure to flop over with the slightest touch. She actually may not be safe if I leave her without a stand.
Perhaps the most baffling thing for me was the new gripping hands. In the past (i.e since CW) the fists that have held her baton melee weapons have basically been closed fists. Pretty standard stuff. Hot Toys, for reasons I'm guessing to fancy things up, gave this Widow a slightly more relaxed grip on her weapons - literally.
For whatever reason, the grip is too loose, and Widow cannot hold her weapons correctly. This makes for some interesting posing. I first thought this might be a thing due to desire not to cause paint wear, but then I noticed that the batons in Infinity War featured painted batons as well, and those are in a death grip.
Uhm, I don't think I should ask about this. *laughs*
Actually, I'm the one who asked them to get closer together as Deadpool (that's a girl in that outfit) was doing some bump and grind dance moves and I thought it would be funny to get them together like this.
UPDATE: Don't know how this happened but these two were featured in Uproxx's A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay: November 22nd (2013). Really? I was going more for a funny photo than a cool one ... but I'll take it! ^.^
James O’Donnell (b. Oct. 1834 - d. 5/26/1904), and his wife Catherine Black (b. 1836 -- d. circa 1888) emigrated to the USA and settled in Northeastern PA. in approximately 1852. He grew up on a farm in County Donegal, in the Republic of Ireland, and married Catherine, from neighboring Derry, County Ulster, in Northern Ireland. He was 18 years old when they crossed the Atlantic; she, only 16. Their port of entry is not known.
Neighbors on a farm adjacent to theirs, in Derry, were a family named Cunnin, who emigrated not long after the O’Donnells. The Cunnins, Hugh and Ellen, moved in with the O’Donnells in Stockton, PA, until they could obtain their own lodgings. The families remained friends through three generations, when a grandson of the O’Donnells (James Vincent) married the granddaughter of the Cunnins (Margaret Cunnin Woodring).
The O’Donnells first lived in Stockton, PA, and then in Hazleton, PA. James initially worked as a miner, then a livestock broker. and finally, described himself to the census taker as a “landlord”. For most of his life his home was one of 4 adjacent town homes (row houses) on Hazleton’s S. Pine St., also known as Donegal Hill, with the other units usually occupied by family, and by old friends from Ireland. Each house had a living room, dining room, kitchen and three bedrooms. Later, indoor bathrooms were added. There was a large yard between the back of the houses and the alleyway behind them.
James and Catherine had 9 children:
...1. Grace (Gallagher) (1855-1936)
...2. Frank (2/14/1858-1931)
...3. Katherine (12/23/1859 - ?)
...4. Anna (11/1/1861 – died in infancy ?)
...5. Mary Ann (2/5/1864 – died in infancy ?)
...6. James Jr. (4/18/1866 –c. 1950)
...7. John R. (8/12/1869 - 1940)
...8. Mary (4/13/1872 – died in infancy?)
...9. Mary Elizabeth (Garrahan) (April, 1879 - ?)
Grace lived for several years in one of the family houses. She married Patrick Gallagher (1851 – 1928), a miner, originally from Ireland. They had three boys: James b.1884; Daniel b.1886; and John b.1893. In 1936 both John and Daniel lived in Hazleton. Grace lived with son John & his family during her last month of treatment for a heart condition.
Frank moved to Soldiers Grove, WI, in his early 20’s. where he lived on a dairy farm. The land was purchased by his father, James O’Donnell, in 1869, for his sister Grace (who emigrated from Ireland, but about whom no information exists) and her husband, Robert Backus. Robert fell ill around 1880 and Frank, asthmatic, and therefore unable to work in the anthracite mines, was sent to help his aunt and uncle run the place.
Frank, his wife Kate, and their only child, James F. (1891 – 1972), lived there for many years. James F. married Mary Ann Koss (1903-1988), and the couple had 9 children, all raised on the family farm, and all living as of this writing (August 2010):
...1. Ed b. 1/3/28
...2. Jim b. 3/20/29
...3. Fred b. 1/30/32
...4. John b. 3/26/34
...5. Tom b. 11/28/3
...6. Joe b. 9/5/37
...7. Ann b. 9/30/40
...8. Kathryn b. 1/26/43
...9. Robert b. 9/19/47
Frank’s sister, Katherine, also known as Kate, was close to Frank, and corresponded and visited regularly, traveling from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin during many summers with her young niece, Kit, John R. O’Donnell’s daughter.
Frank died in 1931 and is buried at St. Philip’s Cemetery, Rolling Hills, WI.
His grandson, Terry, one of his son James’ (“Big Jim”) 7 sons and 2 daughters, currently lives on and manages the farm, where cattle are raised.
In all, there are 203 O’Donnell descendants by blood or marriage in the WI area as of March, 2010.
Katherine, known as Kate, remained single and lived in the family town homes, and taught in the public schools for many years. She had a strong personality -- both in the home and school, and successfully defied the school board when they did not want to use the Catholic bible for school prayer. By all reports, she was a formidable woman and a demanding taskmaster who commanded respect from everyone who knew her. After Kate’s mother, Catherine (Black), died (around 1888) Kate assumed additional family responsibilities for the rest of her life, making a home for her father and brother, Jim Jr.
Kate also played a significant role in the musical training of her nephews, J. Vincent and William, sons of her brother John R., diligently overseeing their piano practice. Both would go on to careers as professional musicians. She was devoted to her church, St. Gabriel’s, and her generosity towards the parish for the building of a new structure in the early 1930’s is commemorated by a plaque in St. Gabriel’s lobby, listing significant benefactors.
Kate also encouraged from afar Frank’s son’s (James F.) study of the violin, warning him in a postcard sent in March of 1911, “I expect to hear something worthwhile when I get there.”
James Jr. remained single and lived with sister Kate. He was known to be sickly, with a bad heart, and as a result, never held a permanent job. He was accustomed to delivering to his barbershop brother John’s lunch daily, and also ran errands for family members. When sent on a shopping mission, he would often return with whatever he’d been sent for, and announce, “You’re very lucky I was able to get this – it was the last one they had.” Around the turn of the century he helped the family in their milk delivery business.
Upon Kate’s death, c. 1941, Jim moved to live with his younger sister Nell (Mary E.) who lived in Waltham, Mass. It was later learned that he routinely shoveled snow for her without any physical ill effects – despite his ‘heart condition.’ He died in his eighties, c. 1950.
Mary E. (Nell), married J. Garrahan and had three children: James, b.1910, Catherine, b.1914, and Helen, b.1917. After becoming a widow, she moved her family back home with the James O’Donnell family for awhile, then eventually moved to Waltham, Mass where son Jim Garrahan became a teacher. He married and had a daughter. He and Kit O’Donnell kept in touch during his lifetime, which ended around 1980.
John R, at times a rebellious youth -- including a stint as a circus runaway -- settled down to learn barbering and then owned a barbershop. He and his wife, Anne A. Nighan, lived in one of the row houses adjoining the original family home. They raised three children: James Vincent, (b.1898 – d. 1963), William, (b.1901 – d. 1966), and Kathryn Elizabeth, (b.1905 – d. 1995). John R. died suddenly of a heart attack in 1940, and wife Anne went to live with her daughter Kit, in Scranton, in 1942. Anne died there in 1956 at age 87.
John R. O’Donnell’s Children
James Vincent (“Vince”) O’Donnell (4/5/1898 - 4/1/1963) eventually became the musical director at St. Michael’s Passionist Monastery in Union City, NJ. In addition to music responsibilities for the monastery church, including serving as organist and choirmaster, he taught in the seminary and the high school, and produced and directed many elaborate musical shows. He also led the glee club at St. Elizabeth’s College in Morristown, NJ. He attended Princeton’s School of Music & Drama, Julliard, and the Westminster Choir School.
His wife, Margaret (Peg) Woodring, (b. 1905 – d. 1995) a teacher, was Kathryn (Kit) O’Donnell’s best friend from their Hazleton childhood to their final days. They grew up and went on to teach school together, and Margaret met Kit’s brother, J. Vincent, for the first time around 1930. Vince and Peg married in 1936 and had two sons, whom they raised in Union, NJ:
...1. William J. b.1937 – d.1973
...2. James Vincent, Jr. b. 1941
William O’Donnell (b. 12/25/1900 d. 9/18/1966) graduated from Penn State University and embarked on a musical career as an Irish tenor. He toured Europe, performing in Paris and London, and then the USA (Town Hall in NYC) in the early 1930s and had a network radio show on NBC, where he was billed as the Nickel Plate Railroad tenor. He married Helen Bernet of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Bill gave up his musical career and eventually became part of the administration of US Trucking Co. Helen and Bill had two children, Billy and Anne. Neither married and both are now deceased.
Kathryn E. (“Kit”) O`Donnell graduated from West Chester Normal School and taught for 7 years prior to her marriage to Donald Swift, DDS, of Scranton, PA. Following his death in 1956 she married a widower, James Mitchell, in 1959,and moved to Manhattan, then later to Jamesburg, NJ. She died in 1995 in Scranton, PA, where she is buried.
There are two living daughters from her union with Donald Swift:
...1. Kathryn -- b. 1934
...2. Molly -- b.1939

The game will start on 11 Apr for 4 days n we'll see who will emerge the champion. So, are u game enough to take up this challenge? Register on my wall ASAP. Day 1 of Challenge :-
The word puzzle challenge starts now on 11 Apr 2012 at 12 pm. Participants are given 1 day to solve the puzzle that is on my farm now. Only 3 alphabets (i e o) are given and it is a food item. It should read horizontal first, then vertical. If u know the answer, post it asap. Any suggestions, comments n complaints r welcome. I will msg participants daily to start the challenge. Good luck everyone. Ready, Steady, Go go go!
Day 2 of Challenge :-
Yes, the answer for Day 1 puzzle is "grilled salmon". Hahaha fairygodmamao was wicked enough to mislead players into thinking it was CHICKEN!! It was no CHICKEN!! It was a FISH!! I think i m a "genius" like wad some nbors said. Lol. But Panda FunE is a greater genius. She saw through the trick first and gave me the right answer but at the wrong time!! What a pity!! Panda gave this right answer only after she posted her first. Uh oh! So sorry Panda. No changing of answer is allowed. So think carefully first before posting. I really enjoyed n lol over all the messages received. They r so funny. Caro couldn't figure out the second word. She too was tricked. Now shes looking forward to day2 puzzle. C'sBaby was totally stumped n asked for additional alphabets while Jace said his brain is working overtime. Bonnie said its too tricky while Bubs totally forgot about the game despite reminders. She's busy designing to meet birthday dateline. Too bad! 1 non nbor Grace took part but her msg dropped off my wall n I couldn't reach her. Searched all over, just couldn't locate her. Must declare her as MISSING together with those who did not give an answer! Hahaha. Ok. mamaos gonna be good today. Day2 puzzle is straightforward. No tricks. It's an occupation/job. The 3alphabets given are " e t a". Once you know the answer, post it on my wall. Gd luck everyone!!! Go Go Go!!!

"You are awesome! will u marry me?" hahaha. 4 other players, Bonnie, Caro, Bubs n C's Baby got the right answer within an hour or so!!! Ricky Bobby's confession made me lol lol n lol till i almost fell off my seat. Its not your fault Ricky. When C'sBaby posted, i was on the half of the world sleeping. You r just lucky. However, your sincere confession has won my admiration. You r awesome. Haha. Hmmm, not going be so nice this time round. Going give so tough a nut that no one can crack it. I promise!! BONUS ANNOUNCEMENT!! Anyone who can solve today's puzzle correctly will get, on top of the 20pts, an extra 10 bonus points, total 30pts!!! And the first person to msg me the right answer will get an extra 30 points, total 50pts!!! Generous mamao right? (pretences! all the marks are about the same. that's the only way to sieve out the one and only CHAMPION!!) haha. Ok. Day3 puzzle starts now. It's a thing. The 3alphabets given are "e i e". Omg, u must have a triple PhD. But I hv phd too. Mine stands for permanent head damage! Haha. That's why I was crooked enough to put a 2nd hurdle to trip you all!! Panda!! Caro!! Why didnt u think of brewing a steaming hot coffee with yr electric kettle!! Yes! The answer is "electric kettle"!! Bubs the only one who by luck selected kettle. Grrrrr. Ok today's last puzzle is a place.3 alphabets are "a a o". The first person who can solve it right will get an outright reward of 100 pts. Go panda go! For a right answer, u will get an outright score of 50 pts!! Generous right? After being so mean! Hahaha. Gd luck everyone. Go go go!

THE CHAMPION :-
BINGO! Day4 answer is " grand canyon" and Awesome Aidan's Acres solved it within minutes!! How could u? It took me days to set up all the tricks n trips!! Hahaha. Although Aidan's Acres was down with only 20 pts, but that 1st n right answer won her an outright 100 pts!! Yes! Her total score of 120 earned her the CHAMPION of this Challenge!! Thousand congrats to you. Now, you must decide whether to accept the prize!! Hahaha. As for Panda, she too solved the puzzle in a jiffy. However, she was a little unlucky as she had no wifi connect soon after i posted puzzle. What a pity dear. Its also a pity that the leading player, bubs, did not reply. Again, she was busy designing to meet dedications. U r great bubs. C's Baby's great too. She was on vacation! But she still squeezed out time for this game! U r awesome. As for my dearest Bonnie, no extra pts for watering my trees!! Bribery not allowed! LOLOL. I must thank all of you for taking the time to play this game n making it so fun n enjoyable n more importantly, we r brought together like a big family. Although many nbors' braincells were drained n some stumped by these hard toenail puzzles, I hope u all had a wonderful fun time. Win or lose is not important. As for me, I really really enjoyed every moment n lol n rofl over all the messages posted. Panda! thx for accepting me as yr long distance concubine or mistress or whatever. Yay, I m taken at last!! Hahaha. Will be doing another very fun game for all, young n old, to play as long as you know how to spell. Keller, my cute 3yr old nbor, can you spell? If so, join in the fun! Dun worry, this time u dun hv to crack yr brain or drain yr brain juice. Its REVENGE TIME! All u need to do is to crack MY BRAIN n pull my hair to see what's stored inside!! Hahaha!! Fun right? Get to crack mean mamao up! Look out n take part early. So, till then, take good care n luv u all.

We're redoing the fences at the barn and Simon had to find a perch and supervise all the poor guys who were digging fenceposts. ;)
He's rather a serious taskmaster when it comes to the barn. Horses there, strange men over there, thank you! :D
(Also I am doing the happy dance of software fix. Thank you Adobe, heh!)
