Keighley Playhouse's production of 'My Fat Friend', by Charles Laurence, was performed at the Playhouse from Monday 13th to Saturday 18th June 2005. This was the last production in the 2004/05 season of plays at the Playhouse.
The programme explains the set-up: "Vicky, a hampstead bookshop owner, is a heavyweight. She suffers good humouredly the slings and arrows of her two lodgers: James, a shy Scottish youth who longs to be a writer, and Henry, a not-so-young and not-so-shy homosexual who torments her as only best friends can. After a fleeting romance with a handsome bronzed customer who then leaves to work abroad, Henry, a hard taskmaster, bullies her to begin slimming. She succeeds brilliantly and becomes a shadow of her former self. When the handsome book buyer returns he is overwhelmed - but not in the way they had expected."
The 16-page programme is part of the Christine Broadley Collection, donated by Christine in 2024.
