Sponges were discovered in the Florida Keys during the 1820s. A commercial sponging operation was founded there around 1849. Long poles were used to harvest sponges from the beds off the Keys. Turtle fishermen from Key West discovered the sponge beds off the west coast of central Florida in 1873 accidentally when sponges off the mouth of the Anclote River snagged their nets. Spongers came to the area to work the beds and some relocated to Tarpon Springs. (tarponsprings)

We made Kit Kat ice cream. Grammy had the idea of making chocolate bowls by melting chocolate, dipping balloons into the chocolate, allowing it to harden, then popping the balloons.

On our drive back to my sister-in-law's house the sun was getting low in the sky and the light was fading fast, but I tried shooting random shots out of the car window while flying down the highway. Why? Well, why not? Surprisingly, a few of them actually turned out. I liked this tree all festooned with Spanish moss.
