Remembering Rauriser valley on a Corona winter morning.
IR panorama rendered from 5 handheld captures. The camera (Sony Alpha 6000/APS-C) has been modified for full-spectrum photography (approx. 280nm-1100nm), and used along with a Hoya R1 RED lens filter. The latter effectively blocks wavelenghts below approx. 590nm. Further camera settings: 35mm FF, F8, ISO 100, 2900K WB. The final 1:1 b&w crop has been generated with Photoshop and NikCollection Silver Effex Pro.
Dopo l'apparizione di ieri sulla Pinerolo-Torino, oggi è toccata una corsa sulla linea del Frejus. In coda la E656.576 di ieri, mentre in testa troviamo la E633.238 presa in prestito dalla Cargo.
Despues de la aparicion de ayer en la linia Pinerolo-Torino, hoy ha tocado visita diagnostica a la linia Modane Torino. En cabeza encontramos la E633.238 de Trenitalia Cargo, en la cola la E656.576 de RFI.

Los Picos de Europa son un macizo montañoso localizado en el norte de España que pertenece a la parte central de la cordillera Cantábrica. Aunque no muy extenso, su cercanía al mar hace que sea pródiga en accidentes geográficos de gran interés.
Esta formación caliza se extiende por Asturias, Cantabria y León y en ella destacan sus alturas, en muchos casos por encima de los 2.500 metros, por lo cerca que se encuentran del mar Cantábrico, pues en su punto más septentrional apenas se distancian 15 kilómetros del mar. Geográficamente los Picos de Europa se encuentran en la línea de la Cordillera Cantábrica, si bien son considerados como una unidad independiente de ésta por su formación más reciente. Ocupan una superficie total de 64.600 hectáreas repartidas entre las tres provincias.
Los Picos de Europa están divididos en tres macizos: el macizo Occidental o Cornión, el macizo Central o de los Urrieles y el macizo Oriental o de Ándara.
Monsoon lingered in Nepal in September 1985. It was wet and hot walking the famous Annapurna Circuit trail. Until we reached the backside of the Annapurna massif - no more rains and a cooler, drier climate. It was harvest time in the fabled Manang Valley - sheltered by huge mountains, it was a pocket of a peculiar Tibetan tribe and their culture. Here just after the village of Tal we were walking in the deep Marsyandi river gorge. Just before a heavy rainfall started a Tibetan horse was peacefully grazing on our path.
At that time there were no roads to Manang valley and it took a week of walking to reach the rain shadow. That has changed and it has changed the lives in the valley forever.
The picture was originally photographed on Fujichrome slide film with my Nikon FE2 camera and 50mm lens. I photographed the slide by bracketing it with a Nikon D600 camera and enhanced the picture in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Topaz.
Todo tan distinto bajo la visión del prisma de la inocencia de cuando eramos niños... Montarte en la noria era suficiente para ser feliz...

Yesterday I was feeling a bit lethargic so didn't stray too far...
As my girlfriend lives on the side of Garreg Fawr, a small rocky peak which stands above Llanfairfechan I decided to have a wander up there and was really taken with this fantastic walking area.
I'll be exploring this place thoroughly in the coming months and also look forward to walking home to Capel Curig from here, taking in the high Carneddau on my way.
