The 21st Annual Japanese Bell ringing at the Asian Art Museum of San Francsico.
Joya no kane is the name of the Japanese bell-ringing ritual which brings the old year to an end and ushers in the new.
The Bell is struck 108 times (I was number 104) on New Year's Eve to purge humankind of the 108 Buddhist sins.
This bell is a sixteenth-century Japanese bronze bell, originally from a temple in Tajima Province in Japan.

One of the people who really inspired me to come to Japan is Koji Tajima. I've been following him on Flickr for a few years now where he goes by the name of Spiral Delight. I think I saw him write somewhere that he's a "junction junky," one of a group of photographers here in Japan who love shooting highway overpasses like this one.
He has some really mind-bending images and some of the most insane light trail photos I've ever seen. He's also been a big help to me by telling me how to get to and access the best places to shoot from. I hope to meet him one day. Thanks Koji!

In this country you have this tv program called: "Mijn man is Klusser" (my husband is a toolman). It's about a couple who live in unfinished house. They bought a house years ago -in bad shape- and tried to renovate it but underestimated the required effort.
It begins with the wife that tells the audience her husband ain't worth shit, he's always on his Playstation, he's always tired, she doesn't get laid anymore and that they have been living in their ghetto living room for over a decade. Then she threatens to leave this poor guy with the children if the house is not going to be fixed within a week. So the wife complains (sounds familiar?) but she hasn't done shit to the house herself. And what do you mean, you'll leave? Where are you going then? Houses are a scarse and therefore a expensive commodity in this country. Your beauty has faded, your ass ain't tight any more, your titties are saggy and your children are tokkies and no bank is gonna loan you no €350k for another house. You ain't going anywhere honey. You and your loser husband are stuck with each other.
Then the presenter, this guy John Williams, comes in with his 'klusteam' (team of professional handymans/ workers). He thinks he's Denzel Washington in Training Day. John will organize the rebuild and in the same time he will try to save their marriage.
The workers go fix the house and let the husband help. Then they make fun of him because he's an amateur: hahaha, look a this dumb lazy cõno. John Williams tries to save the marriage with his bullshit psychology tactics. He's always flirting with the wife of the victim too. That rat bastard.
But you know what, this is one hour of top quality entertainment. It always ends well too. It's like Temptation Island, but different. It's on Mondays 20:30 hours RTL4. You should go and see it.
