In Chinese culture, an spirit tablet is a tablet which used to put it in front of the main gate. Chinese people believe there is a "land god" of every house to protect the safety of their home and brings wealth.
Therefore they will put this tablet and pray to it and seek for the protection of the land god. Traditionally the spirit tablet is made by a wood board with red background with gold Chinese word "The wealthy guardian". The Iguvine Tablets are a series of seven bronze tablets discovered at Gubbio (ancient Iguvium), Italy, in the year 1444. Currently housed in the Civic Museum of the Palazzo dei Consoli in Gubbio, they are also known as the Eugubian Tablets or Eugubine Tables. The earliest tablets were probably written in the 3rd century BC in the native Umbrian alphabet, the latest in the 1st century BC in the Latin alphabet.
The tablets contain religious inscriptions that memorialize the acts and rites of the Atiedian Brethren, a group of 12 priests of Jupiter with important municipal functions at Iguvium. They are written in the Umbrian language, and are by far the longest and most important document of any of the Osco-Umbrian group of languages, closely related to Latin.
The picture is of my home office where I work most Fridays. From left to right - the rear-right corner of Brother HL-2040 laser printer, above that my Sony U750P (ripping a DVD and whose output is appearing on the Dell monitor in the picture), next to the U750P is my Nokia N800, then my Scribbler SC-3000 Tablet PC (sharing the monitor, keyboard, and mouse with the U750P and a Dell Dimension desktop PC not shown in the picture - the Dell is a tower unit located under the table), a Dell 17-inch LCD monitor with a Logitech Web cam perched on top (used for Skype and N800 video calls), and finally the left-hand side of an HP Photosmart 130 printer. I think it's a pretty well equipped home office!
