W.A. Young Machine Shop and Foundry
Rices Landing, PA
This shop was built in 1900. It was closed in 1969 and left the way it was on its last day of operation with machinery and tools dating as far back as 1870.
The shop is beside the Monongahela River in southwestern Pennsylvania. It specialized in repairing barges, tug boats, and other river vessels and making replacement parts.

This resides in our Music Room for a month each year next to the Cat and Dog's portraits. There are no portraits of me in the house. 😕
Mostly recycled materials:
thrifted cone, felted sweater wool, reused shirt buttons from my stash and a wooden spool saved after the thread was done.
Good grief, I have no idea why Henry looks so sad here!
He was doing a "head down" on the table (a first, I believe) and I would flash a quick stay signal in front on him, and then pull my hand back (to the left) out of view.
I honestly thought I was catching him with his head down, but apparently I was slow on the remote, because all shots (3?) looked pretty much just like this one.
I'm guessing he was confusing my hand moving away with his "look sad" cue, and because he wasn't resting his head on the table very hard, he was turning slightly to the side.
Next time, I'll try backing straight away from him and go stand behind the camera. I'm pretty sure he'll hold his pose, and if I'm directly in front of him there won't be any twisting.
