Kodak Portra, 4x5.
Big midterm critique tomorrow in which I am presenting four of my 4x5 prints- two 8x10 black and white printed myself in the darkroom, and two 11x14 colour prints from scans. This is one of the colour images.
Will scan my prints sometime soon.
Turq is a notorious style-chameleon. Some months, she's a tomboy, and some months she's little miss priss. Apparently next month will be all priss, matching frill, and high tea with her stuffed animals. ;P
Tabletop Racing Game - Support on LEGO Ideas ... Be one of the first to see this working prototype on display at Brickworld Chicago 2025!
Yes, I have finally gone and done it. I figured out a way to scale down my mechanical "Tabletop Derby" horse racing game into something a bit more viable as a LEGO Ideas submission. If we can get this Tabletop Racing Game idea across the finish-line, maybe it will make it onto LEGO's shelves someday. Thanks in advance for all the support!

The weather wasn't quite so good for today's Lockdown rideout, actually threatening a shower of rain, would you believe?!? Here are a couple of phone-pics from today's mini-adventure : The Wildlife Pond, just across the lane from Papplewick Pumping Station, and Tabletop Tree, on the A60, in Ravenshead.
This story is not true.
Back in October 2013, I was travelling through Spain when I suddenly realised that I'd forgotten to bring my medication with me. Lycanthropy attacks can be very distressing and messy, so I stopped in the next town to see if I could find a pharmacy. Luckily, I came across one run by a man named Juan who was able to help me. Armed with my medication, I was able to enjoy the full moon that night without feeling the urge to howl at it.
One of our ‘surprise’ baby tortoises from this Fall. Hummingbird feeder ‘flower’ for scale. It’s got a little ’snacks for later’ hanging on its mouth, what are you going to do ?

Es ist wie im echten Leben. Die Masse beobachtet und wartet ab, einer tut sich hervor und welche ducken sich ab.
Looking at some incredible macro images on Flickr fired me up to have a go at tabletop macro at magnifications far greater than 1:1.
Not sure how I would get on, so the budget was set at £10 and make use of whatever I had around.
Starter was the base and that is from my old Phillips PCS2000 enlarger. I made a spacer and bolt to attach the macro slide.
For the subject table I was looking for movement in 3 orientations, so used the compound table from my bench drill. To save the compound table scratching the enlarger base it is mounted on 4 rubber feet I bought in Maplins. Bolted to that is a vertical rising table to sit the subject on. This is the focus stage from my enlarger topped of with a bit of aluminium held in place by electrical tape.
The flexible flash bracket is a gooseneck microphone stand also from Maplins. As bought this was not stiff enough to support the flashgun so I inserted 5 lengths of fencing wire to stiffen it up. This is topped off with a ball head taken from an old Jessops mini tabletop tripod.
In addition to all that I had to do a mod to my 1980's Panagor Auto bellows. In its native form this is not stiff enough to resist vibrations at high magnifications. So the front standard was drilled and tapped and the bellows attatched to a length of aluminium. The rear standard has the main fixing point and a groove was cut in the ally base to allow the front standard a degree of front rear movement before it is locked down. This is visible in view2.
In the setup shown the extension is 230mm. This is made up by the bellows, and Nikon PK12, 13 and PN11 extension tubes. A teleconverter can be added to the camera for even greater magnification, and that was the setup I used to take the 'Ballpen Tip' in my photostream.
I had my commercial printer print a 11 x 17 pullup banner (over kill) and use this as a backdrop. Yes, it is an urban Paris backdrop.
This composite photo is based upon a shot of the sunrise of last week.
The tower is a sculpture that my son had made during his time at college, studying Art. The lighting and fire were produced using fibre optic PWL brushes.
Sadly I had to use stock images of Dragons as the ones I tried to photograph in the wild were too quick to get a decent shot of them in focus lol.

While waiting for our delicious afternoon tea at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons this shiny marble tabletop made a handy perch for a reflection using the Canon G1X 'HDR filter'. It did OK in the circumstances - straight into the sun!
Our room (called Cameo) had views across the gardens here at the back of the hotel and also at the front over part of the village.

Table top setup. The room is lit by sunny daylight, but camera and flash are adjusted to block this out (flash to max power, camera to t=1/100 s). Otherwise the two color temperatures would mix. Another nice advantage of using a strobe light instead of daylight: One can easily choose ISO 100 and still shoot without tripod.
