So many times

I made this crossing

What would I give

To go back to you

When I revisited this footbridge after many, many years, it was so overwhelming as I felt I was looking back at my past life, which in a way I was. I used to go across this bridge with my family as a child, walking our dogs. It is the way of life that we grow up and our parents pass over, but there are times when the loss of them becomes very acute, catching us unawares. This was one of those occasions, and I could barely press the shutter.

There is only a short section of the old Miami and Erie Canal in Providence Metro Park, Grand Rapids, Ohio...so the mule drawn canal boat does a lot of turning around. Visitors can go for a ride if they wish...for a small fee, of course.

My good friend Annie Oude-Lansink is ninety today. Van harte gefeliciteerd met je negentigste verjaardag. Congratulations on your ninetieth birthday.

Is it?

Well, I'll believe it when I see it.
