5988: Temple of Anubis
So this set has two names, like a few of the Adventurers sets. Here in Britain it was called 'temple of Anubis' whereas in other countries it was called 'Pharaoh's forbidden ruins'.
I went with the Temple of Anubis name and incorporated numerous Anubis details as possible.
Looking at the original set I wasn't particularly fond of the big scary mouth design for the temple. So I took a look at other Egyptian temples and went with the traditional pylon design (pylons are the names given to the two sloped parts of the temple. With a small entrance between them).
The overall exterior looks more faithful to ancient Egyptian architecture. If I had loads of storage space for decals on mecabricks I would have added some hieroglyph designs on the slopes. But sadly I couldn't.
Inside there's additional detail, the original set was a bit sparse, so for the lower rooms I added a tomb filled with gold and treasure, along with both rooms featuring murals depicting the re-gou ruby.
Up top is just a room with a cursed chest (and a booby trap) and in the other room is a mysterious book...
For the actual location of the ruby I made my own special twist. In Egyptian lore Anubis is responsible for guiding souls to the afterlife. But is also responsible for weighing a person's heart on the scales. Should their heart be lighter than the feather, they are granted passage to the afterlife. Should the heart be heavier then their soul shall be devoured by Ammit (a crocodile/hippo/beast hybrid demon).
Thr temple of Anubis features a tear in reality. Where the underworld bleeds through. Perched on the crumbling platform is a set of golden scales which the ruby rests upon. The ruby tests the adventurer by their soul and their intentions. Should they be worthy, the scales shall shift and they may take the Re-Gou ruby. If the ruby senses the greed and unworthiness in an individual's soul then the scales shall fall down, the temple will collapse and the individual shall be dragged body and soul into the dark abyss beneath them.
And that wraps it up for the Egypt subtheme of Adventurers. I won't be revamping and of the tiny polybag sets like the river raft because they're pretty much there for extra pieces and minifigures.
I may revist the jungle theme again I did a revamp series for jungle and Dino island back in 2019. But I might make some new updates on them in the foreseeable future.

Lighting is always a challenge at this waterfall. Today was no different. Thought the black and white provided a moody feel.
Seems like I'm trapped behind a wall of snow... wait I am... sorta...!
Yesterday was such a gloomy rainy day. In the evening, the temperatures turned below freezing and the result? More Snow + Ice! Grr!
Stupid groundhog was wrong.
Happy Sunday everyone! Stay warm :(!
Okay, well he wasn't really trapped, but you get the idea. :P
This is from the archives and I want a kitten! :(
Day 358-365
I love all the horizontal lines in this. The Drumheller Badlands are fantastic if you take the time to really see it.
Was back in Rockport, MA today. Sky was very bland, lighting was not great but worked for the lobster (lobstah) traps.
I was visiting the garden near my house for a sunset as I do on many days. The clouds were a bit low...so the trees blocked the sunset.
Not to waste a good time out with the camera, I found the ice near the road to have some really cool (no pun intended) patterns! This little patch of bubbles was one of these! (If I focused a bit farther, one could see the ice crystal patterns on the bottom of the ice sheet!)
What is it to feel trapped? Many would say to be trapped is to feel deprived, to feel unable to break away in order to be or do what it is you want to be or be doing. What happens, however, if you are in a moment where everything you love and appreciate is happening right now, but you have to change them? If the future is opening up to you and all you have to do is reach out and grab a hold of it...If it is waiting for you to take the first step, not blocking the way. What is it to have the feeling of satisfaction, of complete enjoyment alongside the feeling of knowing you need to start living your life, you need to take on responsibility and actually start being who it is you want to be, to start doing what it is you want to be doing? What happens if you are afraid of actually becoming who it is you can be? What happens if your trap isn't a trap at all?
“What you have to decide... is how you want your life to be. If your forever was ending tomorrow, would this be how you'd want to have spent it? Listen, the truth is, nothing is guaranteed...So don't be afraid. Be alive.” - Sarah Dessen

Completely unfair of Pam to bait the table trap with an IPA. Ouch.
So, this is day one of my 366 project. Don't worry, it's not a selfie theme, so I won't be in every image. My theme is Digital Manipulation, because I want to get better at Photoshop.
Please do not hesitate to comment and constructively critique. Thanks!
ODC - very big
Unused lobster traps are stacked to function as a fence around a space overlooking the small harbor area at Lookout Point in Harpswell, Maine. HFF. Four images were merged using Lightroom 6 then converted to BW using Silver Efex Pro.
Winter wakes in the means of January and does not loosen her grip until the ends of mid-March. But I'm already finding myself very impatience and eager for Spring again. I love the snowfall but miss my flowers more than any winter wonderland.
