Hi there,

This week's task for Macro Mondays was "Tradition."

Every year at Christmastime, I search for these very dark chocolate sticks that have mint centres. They are quite hard to find and sell out quickly, so I was delighted to score a box of them this year. HMM and Happy Holidays!

Thank you for looking and for leaving me a comment. Have a delightful day and week!

⭐️My tradition is to burn candles at Christmas time🌲

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a red day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is tradition. As we all know, Red Lady just finished to set up her Christmas tree. She is super late : usually the Christmas tree is up at the beginning of December but this year is an exception. This delay is caused by a total lack of christmasy feeling this year ( blame it on the pandemic… ). However, the Christmas tree is one tradition Red Lady wants to maintain at any cost ! Even if she has to set up the tree at the very last minute, 23h55 on December the 23rd, she will do it !

Have beautiful day my friends ! Mucho, mucho amor for you all !!

Shortly (next week), I will take few days off from Flickr my friends ! I want to spend some time with my family, so I will not have time to take pictures. But dont you worry, I will be back in 2022 for sure !

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!

The landmark of Nea Fokaia is the Byzantine tower of St. Paul, on the hill beside the port. According to tradition, it was there that Saint Paul secretly baptized Christians when visiting this place. In 1407 the land was donated to a monastery, so the tower is believed to have been built a little later.

The height of the stone tower is 17 meters. Right next to is the church of Agioi Apostoloi (Saint Apostles), built in 1868.

Candle light ,Christmas balls…and much more

Biarritz lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France. Unlike any other part of France. The region has its own language, cultural landscape, architecture, and culinary traditions. The land here is breathtakingly distinctive— with the turquoise blue waters, wild coastline, and rugged foothills of the Pyrenees

An old shot taken in the bazaar in Turkey's southeastern city of Sanliurfa, which is like a time capsule. This is a shot of a traditional coppersmith at work.

On a recent trip to Door County Wisconsin, I stopped by the legendary Anderson Dock.

When I first got there to scope it out, it was raining with a sustained wind of at least 20-30 MPH. Not real good odds of getting a picture. As I waited around for sunset, the rain finally stopped and the sun poked out for just a few minutes to get this shot. I felt fortunate to get something for my trouble.

Per the Door County Pulse website... After Norwegian brothers Aslag and Halvor Anderson recognized the need for a deepwater dock in Ephraim, they constructed one in 1858. Throughout the 1880s, steamers arriving at the dock — most notably from the Goodrich Transportation Company — brought much-needed goods and much-appreciated tourists, and this activity ultimately vitalized Ephraim. Although the dock’s warehouse — the present-day Hardy Gallery — was built to store merchandise, it became a visible reminder of the sailors and ships that had stopped there.

Emily Irwin, outreach director and curator for the Ephraim Historical Foundation, explained that sailors arriving in Ephraim painted the name of their ship and the date on the side of the building as a way to mark their visit.

It’s a bit of a mystery exactly when the graffiti tradition began, but sailors were known to write on the warehouse from around 1910 into the 1950s, perhaps to express their relief and gratitude for a safe passage through the notorious Death’s Door waters, or simply to commemorate their arrival in Ephraim.

In 1949, the Ephraim Historical Foundation purchased the dock and warehouse from the Anderson family, and in 1961, the foundation leased the building to the Hardy Gallery. Through these shifts, however, the graffiti tradition has remained intact, with the public picking up where the sailors left off.

For Macro Mondays: "Tradition"

Every year we buy a new ornament to decorate our house at Christmas. This time we bought this adorable little rocking horse.

The "New Harbour" in Bremerhaven not only attracts many tourists. It has always been a meeting place for tall ships. Unfortunately it is very quiet due to Corona. Only the local ships, like here the historic cog, are moored at the quay wall.

My family celebrates our Viking heritage on Christmas eve with traditional Swedish food and drink.

Macro Monday 20.12.2021 "Tradition"

The Goritsky Monastery of Dormition (Russian: Успенский Горицкий монастырь) was a Russian Orthodox monastery in Pereslavl-Zalessky, Russia.

It was supposedly established in the early 14th century during the reign of Ivan I of Moscow (Ivan Kalita). In 1382 Tokhtamysh Khan destroyed the town and the monastery with it. According to the legend, Grand Princess Eudoxia of Moscow arrived as a pilgrim the day before the attack and managed to escape the Horde on a raft, covered by fog of the Pleshcheyevo lake. In gratitude for the miraculous salvation, she rebuilt the monastery and established a tradition of Easter rides on rafts across the lake.

All the monastery's manuscripts were destroyed by a fire on June 12, 1722, which is why little is known about its history.

No original architecture was preserved. The oldest parts of the preserved ensemble date to the 17-18th centuries.

The monastery was closed in 1788. In 1919 the Pereslavl-Zalessky Historical Museum was established within its territory.

Soppresata - In a Polish family, Christmas Eve is a fast day, therefore no meat is served at dinner that evening. The Christmas Day feast features all the meats, usually centered around a smoked ham. However, the Charcuterie board placed on he dinner table before the meal is served contains dried and smoked meats, along with a variety of cheeses and olives. But the Soppresata is the star of that board that everyone looks for and of course is gone first. But, it must be sliced paper thin in order to be enjoyed properly.

My Christmas wish: I don’t want much for Christmas. I just want the people who are reading this to be happy, health and loved.

Merry Christmas to all my Flickr friends.
