I did a rough count the other day of how many rental cars I’ve had in my life. Business travel, trips home when I lived in Philly… I think roughly it’s 42. 42 different cars ranging from a Hyundai Elantra whose seat would not go back (I kept inching it forward until I was sucking on the steering wheel), to a Ford Explorer where my wife & I dirt whomped through the beaches of Hawaii, to a Pontaic Grand Prix GTP which could give most Ferrari’s a run for their money. I’ve broke the transmission on a Ford Focus wagon speed shifting in Germany, and got violently yelled at in Texas for requesting a Japanese car from the Avis guy. All-in-all, each time is an adventure. My quick trip to the desert (for work) allowed me the choice to select my car, and being money & green conscious, decided on the reliable and fuel-efficient 2009 Toyota Corolla. I put on nearly 2k miles, but no adventure will ever top taking it 55 miles round trip to the Racetrack. (more on this adventure later this week).
Here it is at sunset at the Trona Pinnacles. I’ll have more shots of the Pinnacles later, but I wanted to pay tribute and say thank you to this trusty car for all the adventures we shared. 35mpg never looked so cool. (even though my Prius could get 60, but it looks like a lunar rover)

The Corolla E90 would become one of the best-selling cars in Taiwan and probably the best-selling import, however its predecessor E80 is hard to find. It was only sold as FX 3-door hatchback.
