The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m / 12,605 ft) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif within the French Alps. It is a very popular tourist destination and can be directly accessed by cable car from Chamonix. It receives half a million visits a year and puts visitors close to Mont Blanc.

The Aiguille summit contains a panoramic viewing platform, a café and a gift shop. Even in summer, temperatures in the open viewing areas can reach -10°C.

The name "Aiguille du Midi" translates literally as Needle of the Mid-day. The mountain lies south-east of Chamonix and, when seen from in front of the town's church, the sun passes over its summit around noon.

This was the sweetest little outdoor cafe in the ancient Peruvian fortress of Ollantaytambo. This popular destination dates from the late 15th century and has some of the oldest continuously occupied dwellings in South America. This is a superb location to hike and explore Inca ruins and see an original, intact, Inca built community.

The Gravane Canal is a canal that connects the eastern and western harbors of Kristiansand. The channel is partly an artificially dug extension of the strait between Kvadraturen and Odderøya.

The strait was so shallow that it prevented boat traffic. It was first excavated around 1680.

Four bridges cross the canal and there are remains of a further former swing bridge. The eastern entrance to the canal is at Hartmanns brygge (Strandpromenaden) and Nodeviga boat harbour, and the canal runs out into the western harbor at Lagmannsholmen and Kilden theater and concert hall. Parts of the north bank of the canal are a stone embankment that made Lagmannsholmen landlocked. The buildings at Fiskebrygga with red and ochre-yellow wooden houses are located on both sides of the canal. In the summer there is heavy small boat traffic in the canal. Larger boats are hindered by the relatively low height under the bridges. Harbor for fishing boats is west of the bridges.

A cold Winter's morning at the beach. There's a strange tranquil feeling from the rhythmic chorus of a murmuring sea.

The marina in Kristiansand was my childhood playground, filled with good memories from the 40s and 50s.

The village of Lillesand grew up significantly during the 17th century around its natural harbour. In 1821, the village area was granted the status as a ladested (a sea port with special trading rights). In 1838, the new formannskapsdistrikt law established each parish in Norway as a self-governing local municipality and each ladested was separate from its surrounding parish. This meant that Lillesand became self-governing like the new civil municipalities. Later, in 1952, the town became classified as a bykommune (town-municipality).

During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. On 1 January 1962, the town of Lillesand (population: 1,041) was merged with the neighboring municipalities of Høvåg (population: 1,330) and Vestre Moland (population: 2,454) and the Gitmark farm area (population: 22) in the neighboring municipality of Eide. Together, this new municipality was called Lillesand, but it lost is status as a bykommune (town) because of this merger. In 1996, the law changed and this enabled the municipal council of Lillesand to declare town status for Lillesand once again.

This is one of those places that is beautiful all year long.

Bystranda (The City Beach) is a Blue Flag beach in the southeastern part of the downtown of the city of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. It is located just east of the mouth of the river Otra. The shallow sandy beach by the Kristiansand Boardwalk consists of fine filled sand.

By Bystranda there are seating areas, bathrobes stairs, sand volleyball court, skate ramp, playground, and restrooms. At the plant of the bathing beach was emphasized that it should be accessible to children and the disabled. Bystranda is popular on hot summer days. Close to Bystranda is the indoor water park Aquarama.

The current Oslo Cathedral is the third cathedral in Oslo, Norway. The first, Hallvards Cathedral, was built by King Sigurd I of Norway in the first half of the 12th century, and was located by the Old Bishop's Palace in Oslo, some 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) east of today's cathedral.

For almost 500 years, Hallvards Cathedral was the most important church in the city. After a great fire in Oslo during 1624, King Christian IV decided to move the city a few kilometers west to be protected by Akershus Fortress. Construction of a new church was begun in 1632, on the main square in the new city. After that, Hallvards Cathedral fell into disrepair and decayed.

In 1639 the second cathedral was built (Hellig Trefoldighet). This cathedral burnt down after only 50 years, however, and the current cathedral was built to replace it. The church was probably designed by Jørgen Wiggers, the Councillor of the State (etatsråd). The current cathedral was erected on a small rocky outcrop in the east end of what would later become Stortorvet. The foundation stone was laid in 1694 and the church was consecrated in November 1697.

In August 2001, Oslo Cathedral was the site of the wedding of Prince Haakon, and Princess Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby.

A re-edit from 2007. I loved Venice but would love to see it with less people.

The Waiʻanapanapa State Park, off the road to Hana on the island of Maui, features dramatic volcanic rock, tropical plants and a clear turquois, pounding, surf. The word “Waiʻanapanapa” means "glistening fresh water" in the Hawaiian language.

Vippa bridge is an arch bridge in Arendal municipality and is located on county road 420. The bridge connects the southern end of Hisøy with the mainland on Nedenes.

The first bridge on the site was Norway's first iron truss bridge, and was built in 1879. The bridge was taken by a major flood in 1892 and the span was raised and mounted as a bridge over the narrow strait between the mainland and Rossøya, not far from Vippa bridge. It was moved again in 1948, and then became Gjervoldsøy bridge, and crosses the six-man stream that runs between Rossøya and Gjervoldsøy, where it stands to this day.

Today's bridge is 86 meters long and was completed in 1942, when it replaced an old tilting bridge.

Walking around in Paris during my holiday travel here, gave so much inspiration, creativity and fun. The city is ful of motives and oportunities to make great shots.
