At one time, I would imagine this Sears location had one of the largest Craftsman tool departments in the area. Even when I took this photo, it seemed a little bit bigger than the Whitehaven and former Hickory Hill Craftsman departments.

Parked between what used to be Marrakesh Restaurant and Fort Fringe, these three backhoes are no doubt getting ready to participate in the upcoming transition of the 600 block of New York Ave. NW in Washington, DC

Gosh, what a pleasure it was tooling along that dirt road, barreling towards Teakettle Junction and on to the Racetrack Playa with Lila and Sarah whooping it up, yelling at me to go slower. Da devil made me go faster, scattering Democrats in all directions along the way.
We had a swell Tea Party right after taking this picture.
Lila, Sarah and I wish you all a very happy weekend.

Here's a spoon that I started making about 2 weeks ago from a fallen beech branch. The wood was dry, and spalted. I roughed it out in an evening in the woods, and have done the rest sporadically in evenings after work, often no more than a few minutes a day.
This is the first time that I have left a spoon with what is called a tooled finish, i.e. unsanded, just with the finish from the carving knives. I'm not very good at that yet, and my knives could really do with being a lot sharper, but the back of the spoon is quite reasonable. I'm learning.
Overall, whilst it could be better in lots of ways, I am happy with this one.
Though they could be mistaken for 18th century doctors' tools, some were put to good use in a fun evening of glassblowing at FLO in Ottawa's Little Italy.
