A screenshot from Twitter this time... (there's been more than enough "this time"s for 2017).
Tom Petty's music, much like that of the late David Bowie and Prince, was something I grew up with, and heard so much, I just kind of took it for granted that these great talents would always be around. For an excellent list of Tom Petty songs, check out the tribute here.
so lets get to the point
lets roll another joint
and lets ahead on down the road
to somewhere I gotta go
and you don't know how it feels,
you don't know how it feels,
to be me.

Well it's all right... is the challenge for Sunday - October 8th, 2017 Group Our Daily Challenge
Marley among the wildflowers, a purrfect pairing...these are a few of my favourite things as well as Tom Petty’s song.
Marley usually stays within the confines of the backyard cat enclosure. However, lately with the beautiful Spring weather, he escapes constantly...playing hide-and-seek into the backyard amidst the wildflowers and tall grass. He is in his element and definitely belongs among the wildflowers.
A phrase from Tom Petty’s Wildflowers song:
🎶You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free🎶
A Heartbreaker and a Traveling Wilbury, you've left us too soon.
Tom Petty October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017 RIP.
I loved him, his music.
Not one of Petty's song but here he is singing Needles and Pins* with Stevie Nicks from 1986.

I'm very sorry friends, for my sudden departure; I somehow needed a resetting.
I will come back slowly in a while!
maybe a fitting song, and I love it:

I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Well the good ol' days may not return
And the rocks might melt and the sea may burn
Lyrics by Tom Petty, Learning To Fly.
I just couldn't let this day pass without a tribute to Tom Petty. Today he would've reached 67 years. It's also for Mardi our good friend and balloon pilot who we crewed and flew with most weekends for so many years. Sadly she died earlier this year.
Love this song
Bruno: I've got a great idea - I want you to do something with me!
Eva: I'm not so sure about that. Last time you had a great idea you got in serious trouble.
Bruno: This time it does not involve eating footwear.
Eva: I'm skeptical, but why not. Let's give it a try.
Bruno: Ok. I've been thinking about how you fly off the dock, and I have a plan to do it even better. First thing we need is wings.
Eva: Seriously?
Bruno: Yup. Definitely need wings. So, make your ears go up to the side like you have wings.
Eva: I'm still skeptical, but I'll give it a try.
Bruno: Now we have to sing.
Eva: Sing? Really?
Bruno: Yup. Heard this great song on the radio. "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers.
Eva: I know the song, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with dock jumping.
Bruno: All right, I'll just sing it by myself. Here we go: "I'm learning to fly! I love chicken wings! But coming down, makes my tummy sting!"
Eva: That was impressive.
Bruno: There's only one problem. I don't know the rest of the words.
Eva: Don't worry - I don't think anyone else knows the rest of the lyrics either.
Bruno: True that.
Eva: There is another problem though.
Bruno: Really?
Eva: Those aren't the right lyrics in the first place.
Bruno: Well... maybe they should be.

And the dogversation says it all (or most of it at least). This week Bruno figured out there was water at the end of the dock, and that jumping from the dock is awesome. OK, maybe in reality it is more like flopping off the end of the dock then swimming to steal the toy from Eva. What he lacks in coordination, he more than makes up for in enthusiasm. Used the GoPro plus some vintage processing to get this.
And they are both wearing leads in the water again. Makes it a little tougher to manage them on the dock, but at least I didn't have to swim after Eva to stop her from chasing down geese this week.

“You and I will meet again, When we're least expecting it, One day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again.”

Good love is hard to find
Good love is hard to find
You got lucky, babe
You got lucky, babe, when I found you...

I have to admit right up front: Growing up in The City (San Francisco) during the 50's/60's was an adventure...things were happening...things were poppin...it was fun...the things we took for granted, e.g., grand theaters, awesome neon signs and fantastic architecture, have all but melted away...
I will also admit that this isn't my picture, but one taken from the collection of Henri Leleu depicting The Old Crow Bar at 962 Market St., which of course has been torn down and replaced with another cookie cutter, tin & glass blob...
No doubt, what grabbed my attention most in this shot were the three neon Lucky Lager signs and the cocktail glass on the front door, not to mention the fantastic "The Old Crow" neon above the door...
So I gets up at the butt crack of dawn on my day off so I can take my new truck into the shop to have a few things done to it…I’m told that it will be at least 4 hours so I grab some vittles and then go walking around historic downtown Woodland…I just about messed myself when while walking down a side street, I peer into a gated alley way and discover an old vintage neon and steel sign that was taken down from the Court Motel around 4 years ago…Good to see it didn’t end up at the land fill – what’s next for it is anybody’s guess…
Well, I don't much like walking
But I love my Eldorado ride
I ain't never cared a thing about walking
But I love my Eldorado ride
Yeah, we run it 'round the cornfield
With my little baby by my side

Thoughts of Super Fly descended upon me as I stumbled upon this relic...
"Yeah I'll be king, when dogs get wings
Can I help it if I still dream time to time.
Excuse me if I have some place in my mind, where I go time to time."...

I went out almost every week in search of Metacarcinus Magister, aka Dungeness Crab and came up zero...It was described as the worst Dungeness Crab season California has seen in 20 years...So I drive 480 miles and finally hit the motherload...
This award goes to those that make their living by being King.

Oh my love, what can I do...
What can I do but love you?
For the rest of my days, the rest of my nights
What can I do but love you...
Summertime falls on the house in the woods
Back by the power lines
I aint got a neighbor
For nine or ten miles
Back in the tall pines...
Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty
Soccer game tonight, it's only 45 outside. Gonna be a cold one.
This concludes my 3rd 52 weeks project. I'll probably start another one up again next year because this gets me out shooting and trying to be creative more than anything else.

Hope everybody is doing great! The real world has interfered with my flickr time so am trying to catch up today............ see you in a few...............! ;-)
I’m passing sleeping cities
Fading by degrees
Not believing all I see to be so
I’m flyin’ over backyards
Country homes and ranches
Watching life between the branches below
And it’s hard to say
Who you are these days
But you run on anyway
Don’t you baby?
tonight we ride
right or wrong
tonight we sail
on a radio song
rescue me
should i go down
if i stay too long
in trouble town
yeah, you wreck me, baby
you break me in two
but you move me, honey
yes, you do

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free
Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free
Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worries
You belong somewhere you feel free
For Tom Petty. Thanks for all the wonderful tunes.
