It's not often you get to return a favor, even if over four years have gone by. When I was really new to SL, this guy encouraged my new-found interest in photography. He left SL and when he returned, he discovered the beast he had left behind. When he asked me to take his profile picture, I was honored to help him out.

This is another shot of my old friend Tommy Vollmar from a shoot the other day. The "Purple Rain" pic was for him, this shot was more for me and my artistic sensibilities.
Isn't it fun to objectivy a man every once in awhile?

It's not the best ever, but it is a thing.
In August 2024 I left for a 3 month overland trip from Namibia through Botwana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Sao Tome & Principe and Gabon to Cameroon.
We travelled partly by car and partly by bus and other public transport and only by air to Sao Tome.
It was an amazing journey through landscapes that slowly change from the stark beauty of the Namib desert to the tropical rain forests of Gabon.
This image was taken at Epupa Falls in the river Kunene. The Kunene river originates in Angola and for a large part of its course it forms the border between Angola and Namibia as at the Epupa Falls.The river appears like a green ribbbon in a landscape with dry hills and bush with many baobab trees.

NASA Grumman C20A N802NA routed Oberpfaffenhofen-Shannon-St.Johns today after doing some work based on Sao Tome. Previously visited in 2003 when it still had military serial 83-0502.

Like books stacked on a library shelf, these tomes have many stories to tell about the geological past. At Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, youâll find the minerals seeping from the sandstone cliffs in colorful marks which vary by their properties. The banding and streaks are created by iron (red), manganese (black-white), limonite (yellow-brown) and copper (pink-green) which leaches out by way of groundwater.
