Getting ready for New Years

Red Shouldered Hawk,

At times, I am Blessed

with a Red Shouldered Hawk on My Back Fence.

This Day a pair were pearched on the fence watching the Neighbors back yard for Lizards, Toads, mice or snakes.

Before I could get photos of the pair, a flock of 5 Blue Jays came along and chased them out of the Neighborhood.

In a couple of the photos You can see one of the Blue Jays with a Hawk.

A Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 12 PM MST Thursday.

Snow... heavy at times... will continue through tonight. The

heaviest snowfall will occur from late this morning through the

evening hours with snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour. Total

accumulations of 10 to 20 inches can be expected in most locations

before the snow decreases Thursday morning. As much as 2 feet of

snow will fall in the southern suburbs and Palmer Divide area.

North winds increasing to around 25 mph with frequent gusts up to

40 mph especially east of I-25 will produce considerable blowing

and drifting snow and very poor visibilities.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are

occurring or imminent. Sustained wind and/or frequent wind gusts

of 35 mph or higher will combine with considerable falling and

blowing snow to produce widespread visibilities below one quarter

of a mile. Travel will be extremely dangerous and is discouraged

in these whiteout conditions. If you must travel... have a winter

survival kit with you. If you get stranded... stay with your

vehicle and wait for help to arrive.
