At the beginning of winter we had lots of moisture out west and conditions were ideal for low fog mornings. Since that time we haven’t received any rain at all. Good photography hinges heavily on precipitation. It provides rain which grows green grass, and wildflowers in spring. It creates a snowpack in the Sierra which provides epic winter scenes. And it creates fog, which is something I look forward to the most. Unfortunately, this winter started with a bang and is ending on a whimper. We haven’t had a normal winter in California in 3 years. And have only received two in the last 10.

It was fun doing this shoot, although it was cold and misty.

I love that look! Jaguar - Pantanal, banks of Cuiaba River.

Facts: The jaguar (Panthera onca) is a big cat, a feline in the Panthera genus, and is the only extant Panthera species native to the Americas. The jaguar is the third-largest feline species after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the Americas. The jaguar is a threatened species and its numbers are declining. Threats include loss and fragmentation of habitat. Press L.

Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back. Harvey MacKay

I’ve recently acquired a new set of vintage watch parts as over the years most of my old set has been lost, mostly to the hoover!

Thought this French day dial was cool for the theme and perfect for Macro Lundi.

HMM!

My son´s golden pocket watch.

Happy MM.

Here's a scene from Ipstones Common - looking across to Ipstones Parish Church. The thing is I didn't particularly want this to be about the church or the amazing fast moving clouds but I wanted to make it about history and the passing of time.

It's amazing how fast clouds can move when it's breezy and I was looking at the tombstones and thinking of all all the people who have lived and worked in this village over the centuries, including generations of my own family. The clouds just seemed to represent that passing of time somehow.

I used an ND filter to get a slower shutter speed and some movement on the clouds. I needn't have in the end actually, but using the ND always gives a certain dreaminess so I went with it anyway. I used my camera bag for support and a release cable but made the church out of focus anyway with the idea that I'd boost the large details in post to create a kind of skull eye socket look in the windows - which I did. I also used lots of different blurring techniques before experimenting with various mono conversions. This one worked the best for me, I guess the sepia tones made it just that little bit more about the past.

So, it's an artistic representation of a scene I see most days - a scene full of memories.

Sepilok, Borneo, is a place where rehabilitated orangutans are looked after. there is a set feeding time but it is a lottery as to whether or not any appear. The monkeys never fail to turn up though.

"Time just swirls around us. Everything is always present. The things we've done, the people we've loved, the people we've hurt, they're all still here." ~Richard Osman

This is a "just for fun" photo. I'm curious to see how many people get the title. If it is not apparent, that's an apple on top of the clock.

A watch, especially a complication like this one, comes with many labels to identify the various parameters of time. This Oris moon phase, dual time zone complication is powered by the Calibre 581 developed in 1991 by its watchmakers in Holstein, Switzerland.. This particular watch has performed flawlessly through many time zones for many years. Submittal for the 6/15/20 Macro Monday's theme of "Label.”

A layered and manipulated fractal that took me some Greenwich Mean Time to create.

A time zone is a region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes. Time zones tend to follow the boundaries of countries and their subdivisions instead of longitude, because it is convenient for areas in close commercial or other communication to keep the same time.

Day 6 with Charlie Brown. He is always hungry but prefers to eat the food the others get instead of his own while Cleo has discovered that Charlie's kitten kibbles are her favourite food from now on.....

I never seem to get good Butterfly shots. I shot off maybe thirty of these and even went to get my macro camera. There were a few workable out of the A99.

Thanks to the butterfly who stayed in there while I attempted this.

I did manage to finish some song lyrics today.

Lord Of The Lost - See You Soon

Will you tell me – See you soon in a while

When my eyes fade please give me your smile

And even dark nights are ending in dawn

You'll have time to cry when I'm gone

This is not farewell this is only good bye

When my lips fade please kiss them good night

But even bright days are starting in dawn

You'll have time to cry when I'm gone...
