I built this TIE a couple years ago as part of a Christmas contest, so I went back, recolored it, and made a hangar diorama for it. Enjoy!

Out of all the TIE series craft I have built recently, this was easily the most challenging one. Initially meant to be the first, the build dragged and varied since december 2017 when first drafts were created. Ultimately the ship shares no design elements with any other TIEs except front of the cockpit and some general ideas.

I'm on the leader! The third round of the Iron Forge begins, using the trapezoidal flag as the seed part. My first thought when seeing the black ones in my drawer was a TIE Fighter. Cliche, I know, but hey! It's a build.
As with all of my builds, I try to get the digital instructions up on my Brickshelf page (LDraw format). So check it out.
So far, I couldn't yet figure out a solution that would work better for the wings - I mean other than the one from the official set 4484 - but I really like how the body turned out.
The most difficult and challenging aspect were definitely the pylons. You see, you need to build little hexagons, with holes, which also need to be structural as they hold the panels.
I have cheated a bit - they are not really hexagonal, nor structural - the core beam which holds the panels is located behind what seems to be main pylons.

Slightly short Darth Vader inspects slightly bricky TIE Advanced.
Inspired by this image by Ornicar:
Apparently these domed sections are tapering slightly so they become thinner near their edge. This is achieved here by slightly sloping down the curved sections and attaching them to the center stack assembly.

This is my model of Darth Vaders TIE Fighter. It was built with the updated LDD, so it contains some of the new pieces. Not all of them, sadly. This fighter definitely won't be sturdy in real life, so if you are going to add this to your LEGO ...

The ship is the smallest of all four Classic Trilogy TIE craft but not the lightest - this title is reserved of the Interceptor. Indeed the model is easy to handle and parts count moderate, roughly 850.
There is a common notion that panels of this ship and the TIE Bomber are identical, they are in fact very far from that.

The T/x1 Advanced has four engines mounted - apparently - in front of the center of weight of the ship. This makes being pulled instead of pushed, which would for sure make handling interesting!

Darth Vader's Tie Fighter Advance X1.
This is a heavy and fragile build. Thankfully it has a strong backbone. Unlike my X-Wing builds, which become shorter than most, this build becomes longer than most designs in keeping with a ratio of 1 stud to 3 meters.
My custom minifigure scale Darth Vader's TIE Advanced. It comes equipped with adjustable stand for dynamic display angles.
It's built with 814 parts and I've used some tricky building techniques to get the details right. It's strictly a display piece, designed for AFOLs, since some of the sections can be fragile (but it will hold itself together if you're careful with it ;).

Vader's custom TIE has always been one of my favourite Star Wars craft. And when I started wanting to try to build a SW ship, I knew it had to be this one.
Also, it turned out to be one of the most challenging build's I've done. I had to use some creative connections, but I'm happy with the end result.

This little group started with the modified TIE Bomber. I added surface detail to this ship as well as a more interesting bomb loading and dropping mechanism and space for the gonk droid in the pilot-side of the hull. The TIE Fighter and Vader's TIE Advanced are built to match the proportions and scale of the Bomber, using the same cockpit style. They can be built invididually but my intention was that they're a modification of the Bomber set, with only £10 of extra parts needed in addition to 75347.

Darth Vader's personal TIE. Of all the rebuilds I have ever done, this is the one I think was most sucessful. I eliminated most gaps, angled the sidewalls better, and just in general made a more accurate replica of this ship. You can see the oldest version towards the back of my photostream, if you'd like.

I know, another shot of the tie fighter with nice lettering. Well i just thought it would show the slight difference between mine and the original. Mine is 4 studs wider, with major adjustments to the wing attachments to stop it wobbling. Its also 2 plate widths higher and with extra detail. I kinda used a photo from hellobricks.com, hope they dont mind. It matched the background of my shot
So the X-Wing is a bit too big, but there's no way I'm fixing that. It's only noticeable right next to the Y-Wing, but that's okay since the Y-Wing is still longer to an acceptable degree. I like how these guys look next to each other. I may have to moc up a huge display. Who knows?
Also, for those curious, the X-Wing is only 4 studs too long. It's just not worth it to fix.
This series of MOCs is all about achieving maximum detail and faithfulness at microscale size.
It is heavily inspired by the gorgeous "midi-scale" Millennium Falcon (set 75375) and in fact it matches its scale (about 1:125 or trophy-scale) so that they can be displayed together!
