This Beech tree lined road in Glendalough looks as though its glowing from the coppery golden hues radiating from the leaves.

I have never seen colour quite like it in all my many previous Autumns.Id love to take a photo the four seasons on this road and I will get back to do them over the next year hopefully!!!

The title of my pic is a corruption of the title of Patrick Kavanagh`s poem " On Raglin Road "

" On Raglin road, on an Autumn day.

I saw her first and knew, That her dark hair

Would weave a snare, That I might one day rue,

I saw the danger, yet I passed, Along the enchanted

way,

And I said let grief, be a fallen leaf,

At the dawning of the day "

If you zoom in on the "white" house at the end of the road, and look at the upstairs window, you van see the copper/gold of the trees reflected in the glass. Ive just noticed it.Amazing really!

Do hope you like my photo and have a great weekend!

Pat.

What though the radiance

which was once so bright

Be now for ever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendor in the grass,

of glory in the flower,

We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind

HMBT!

Another clear night, had to have a go at this. Only 3 minutes walk from my house as well! Bit of a pain for light pollution though, and I think it might be a record for the time it took me to edit it...

this creek is a little bit lazy right now, so it managed to get itself frozen in this quiet spot with a wonderful pebbled surface that sparkled in the sun... a beautiful surface to play with.

Even though I had to get up at 4:30 this AM to meet up with some friends from the photo club to go to Lunenburg for sunrise. Sunrise was a bit disappointing but we had a lovely day anyway, and the weather turned out great..a breezy -1 C but sunny... There is a wooden statue covered in a big tarp on the deck of the red shed which I decided to clone out..it was just not very pretty LOL

Though I've already posted this photo, I kept thinking that a little more straightening wouldn't be a bad idea. The other one was a little too crooked for me!

:-)

Want to thank everyone for the nice comments, awards and invites. Afraid I've had quite a lot of matters to attend to recently and then then unfortunately I got sick.

But I'm getting my strength back now and I will be back soon! Looking forward to it!

Though you wouldn't have known that yesterday, it poured with rain.

Loved it !

More rain today as well.

Have a fantastic week

though it may look like this is awful weather and a storm is about to fall down on my head, it actually was delightful warm and sunny weather at the sea with the clouds inland.

Though named "Common" this babbler is anything but common in our state.

This is hard to find babbler whose habitat is grasslands and dry farmlands found scattered across the state. The bird doesn't sound like a babbler even whose calls are often a cacophony of coarse noises. The behaviour is similar to other babblers which are social birds and often found in groups of 3-4 or more.

We sighted a pair of them on the edge of a hill on a dangerously steep slope and think there could be 3-4 in that area based on calls heard. All of them were foraging solitarily and not in a group.

This is my best shot of the bird and my first post of this species in flickr.

Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

My summer sailing trip photos often include Toronto CN Tower shots .. though nature makes each one a little different.

Taken the same day as my last post. They seemed very happy to greet each other. This went on for a minute or two. The female was already on the rocks with her ducklings when the drake arrived. He greeted the ducklings too, although not as enthusiastically. I suppose it could have been a adult child returning to visit its mother, I've seen juvenile, almost adult males do that. But I'd guess it was her mate. In any case, they definitely shared some affection. I felt double lucky to see it. It's my favorite thing to photograph. I know people who refuse to believe birds feel emotions, even though its plain as day that they do. And I just love to see them show it.

Taken at beautiful Bella's Lullaby. Even though I still see a bit of snow falling outside...and it's April, I'm still saying hello to Spring.

Over time, I've been building my castle of love

Just for two, though you never knew you were my reason

I've gone much too far for you now to say

That I've got to throw my castle away

Over dreams, I have picked out a perfect come true

Though you never knew it was of you I've been dreaming

The sandman has come from too far away

For you to say come back some other day

And though you don't believe that they do

They do come true

For did my dreams

Come true when I looked at you

And maybe too, if you would believe

You too might be

Overjoyed, over loved, over me

2020 was complicated for everyone.

Also for photographers and musicians.

I wish you the best for 2021, it is because this one promises to be more difficult that we must have even more projects and that some ultimately succeed.

Depths of Depression - Las Garzas - Nov 2018 - LR-2

One of the less clearly sign-posted waterfalls in Wales. I had to follow guide notes on various websites to find it. There was a good path and a bridge though. So I think that they wanted people to visit.

It's shots like this that makes it worth the while to lay on the beach even though it's getting harder to get up. A Sanderling with a Sand Flea at Stone Harbor point NJ.

Southern Hawkers mating, not a good distance for a macro lens though worth a try?

Even though this female Kestrel has lost a couple of tail feathers and is regrowing them, she is still quite an acrobat, it's like watching poetry in the sky !!

Mama Vixen, watching over her five kits. It's hard on her. Thank you so much for likes earlier today. I realized I had repeated image, and corrected. Much appreciated.

Though it's still quite cold, lots of Andrena bees foraging on the Weeping Willow. And where there are Andrenas there are likely to be predators. And such a one is our Cuckoo Bee, Nomada flava, that - small as it is - preys on Andrena larvas... Pretty creature though!

Though often thought that tulips come from Holland they are in fact native central Asia and Turkey and the name Tulip comes from the Persian word meaning turban.

Though this episode begins in a more traditional non fiction way, with many facts about how many mushrooms perish when the snow falls and temperatures plummet, the episode evolves further with a more empathetic feel. Even a mushroom documentary film maker must show the human side to the mushrooms and how they can suffer. Thus, there is a definite arc to the episode with a thrilling culmination of the collective voices of the mushroom community as they proclaim the following poem:

For days, we witnessed the ominous

“Winter is Coming!"

Well, winter is here, with it’s equal

wonder and terror

We cling to each other

like words in a sentence

without as many spaces.

We are withered, weathered,

and struggling to survive.

Lost souls shivering below flying doves

Past selves and Future selves

Culminating in a grim present moment

How much longer must we suffer and

Yearn for each sliver of daylight?

Oh, won’t some sweet soul

Come gallantly along

Crunching on the oppressive white

Pick us up out of our misery

Tear us from the dark tree bark

With all the dirt that hides under fingernails

And eat us alive?

is really one of life's sensational pleasures. You may say, "Oh, darn it!" in between sneezes and try to act as if you weren't enjoying it, but as an old hay-fever sufferer, I know the kick that can lie in a good sneezing spell, provided you have the time to give to it and aren't trying to thread a needle :-)

" Just a scar somewhere down inside of me

Something I can not repair

Even though it will always be

I pretend it isn't there (this is how I feel)

I'm trapped in yesterday (just stay out of my way)

Where the pain is all I know (this is all I know)

And I'll never break away (can't break free)

'Cause when I'm alone

I'm lost in these memories

Living behind my own illusion

Lost all my dignity

Living inside my own confusion

But I'm tired, I will always be afraid

Of the damage I've received

Broken promises they made

And how blindly I believed (this is all I know)

I will never break away (can't break free)

'Cause when I'm alone

I'm lost in these memories

Living behind my own illusion

Lost all my dignity

Living inside my own confusion

I try to keep this pain inside but I will never be alright

I try to keep this pain inside but I will never be alright

(I'm lost) I try to keep this pain inside but I will never be alright

(I'm lost) I try to keep this pain inside but I will never be alright

I'm lost in these memories

Living behind my own illusion

Lost all my dignity

Living inside my own confusion .."

Hi all !!

There you go, I worked on this photo. I love this character. My crazy little demon from the future. He still has his lover and robot ... still his conscience and dragon. And he still continues to do stupid things. Even though I struggle in the cyber world, I love taking pictures of this character more and more. Maybe I should give him a name ... I tried to do a "movement" on this picture... Hope you like it!

A personal achievement.

A great high altitude acclimatization workout.

First time I climb the summit alone, even though I have people on the same trail, there was no closer contact. Each in its own time.

There was drizzle and a light rain.

Cloudy weather is part of mountaineering.

It's cool to see the blue sky, but getting there is much better.

Adrenaline is the maximum and free.

Even though a new pool was created ...

I hope we will be able to enjoy it at Furillen in the summer.

.....though not much of that on offer 'today'!

A fine afternoon during October half-term and a very busy Ben A'an in the Trossachs. Ben A'an isn't particularly significant in terms of height, standing at just 454m /1490ft, but it's views over the beautiful Loch Katrine to the Arrochar Alps on the west bank of Loch Lomond, and many more besides, are truly incredible. :

These two ladies are close firends I see them together each week and even though I can't hear what they say, you should hear these ladies giggle the night away.

That though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.

Though summer was exceedingly hot in the Pacific Northwest, there were times and places to cool off such as this falls in the Columbia River Gorge.

Even though I'm traveling in preparation for the holidays, my mom made sure I still had space to get some work online done.

Though the weather isn’t very seasonal. A lovely May has given way to a windy and showery June!

Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of South African flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes or fynbos. The family is Proteaceae. In local tradition, the protea flower represents change and hope. The extraordinary richness and diversity of species characteristic of the Cape flora are thought to be caused in part by the diverse landscape, where populations can become isolated from each other and in time develop into separate species. The main vectors responsible for the transfer of pollen in protea cultivation are birds, insects, and wind. Some Protea species exhibit both self-pollination and cross-pollination as a method of reproduction. Cross-pollination is preferred, though, as a method of reproduction because it provides genetic diversity in the population. When cultivating proteas, breeders use hand pollination as a controlled method to transfer pollen from one flower to another. Proteas usually flower during spring. The general structure of their flower heads consists of a mass of flowers on a woody receptacle. The ovary is protected by the receptacle, thus is not seen when looking at the flower, but the anthers are present at the top of the flower, which can then easily transfer the pollen to the vectors. 11113

For those with a few extra moments, an interesting though sad story of the genesis of this old tune recited by the composer...

Though these are more like ripples than rapids, This 13ft tall falls is still photogenic.

A large non-parasitic cuckoo endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. The bird is pretty large - maybe 40-45 cms and is quite famous for its beauty. This is also known as "Lipstick bird" for its reddish beak and beautiful eyelashes.

It habitat is the dry scrub land, forest edges and is often sighted on the ground hunting for insects. The birds are quite shy and behaviours are hard to predict - so it is tough to sight them at the same location again and again. On this day though, we hit the jackpot - spent an hour roughly with 2 birds and at times they got too close to get a full length shot. Luckily they were flying perch to perch continuously, so managed to get a few good flight shots.
