These two male great blue herons had a confrontation over the nest at lower right. The bird on the right was on the nest calling out presumably to a mate when the other male showed up. The second male was chased off and the first male continued its calls.

Taken at Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands, Viera, Florida.

These are also spoons, however the other sides, so they could very well be forks or knives ;-)

Have a great day everyone!

These don't bite, though...

Except you count frostbite...😁

These cirrocumulus clouds have a golden glow from the setting sun off the south Chilean coast.

These males are very territorial and will court females by flicking there wings open and performing an aerial dance in front of them. The scientific name Odonata which is the order of the major group that Dragonflies and Damselflies belong to is actually derived from the Greek word 'oden', meaning 'tooth', which refers to the strong toothed jaws that all the Odonata posses.

These were out in force today

These old trucks from the International to the Ford Rugby are ready to be sold to a happy home to be restored or become lawn ornaments.

these Wildebeest had spent the night in the woodlands and were heading towards the Ndutu Marsh area (in the south east of the Serengeti, Tanzania )

The south east of the Serengeti is the most southern part of the annual Great Migration . It is the area where most of the Wildebeest calves are born.

These birds are very shy and difficult to see. They stay in small groups on the forest floor and rarely come out into the open.

These are not the most liked birds in the world but they do have an amazing amount of colour in them in a certain light.

Taken at Lakeview Drive, Kissimmee.

These teeny, seemingly fragile, very beautiful little Rosemary flowers are on a little plant in a 4" pot in the greenhouse. Is at max 1:1 magnification and also taken in aps-c, so effectively 1.5x, but with a 1.0 d.o.f. and a bit of a crop thrown in.

They were pretty awkward to photograph - I took some photos first and then uploaded in order to get an idea of what they were like, which didn't really help that much as even with the 20x was difficult to tell what was what on these pretty complex flowers, then I took a lot of various little flowers and angles but only a couple worth keeping. A bit hit and miss to say the least :^)

See Maaddi's Gorgeous Take

We found our place

On the branch of an old gum tree

Our feet would sway

To a voice in the breeze

And birds would sing

On the banks of a narrow stream

These memories will stay with me

We made our way

To a hill beside the sea

With salt in the air

And sand on our feet

We felt the sun

As it burned upon our skin

These memories will stay with me

Now I am far away

These memories still remain

Now I'm far away

You stay with me the same

Now I'm far away

These memories still remain

these Pine trees "Nordmann-Tannen" are used only for Christmas trees by the Municipality and it's Citizen.

These little birds love to forage on the ground.

These small plants have found a home among the decaying railroad ties, a perfect ecological niche.

EDIT

After posting, it occurred to me that this looks like an image to which selective color was applied. Actually, only a few spots on the wood beams were desaturated; otherwise, the colors are pretty much the way the way they appeared.

These bright bulbs light up a room on a cloudy, rainy spring day. Love tulip season. Happy middle of the week!

Chessboard is a bought file. I added the image of the little porcelain bird I bought years ago.

Have a great and safe weekend everyone!

these two were on a coconut tree behind my house. I shot them from 15 feet away

These seven elusive islands lie north of the popular Pink Granite Coast, but few humans set foot on them. Monks tried to establish a foothold, but gave up. The main occupants are the seabirds that congregate here to nest in vast numbers.

These little Goslings put a smile on my face and I hope they will for you <3

Thank-you to all who take the time to comment on my photos, it is greatly appreciated ! <3

As the ilse is closed now (covid), I did the photo from the other side, so distance is lower (7m-10m) but sun is in front.

These are some of the biggest clouds I've seen at golden hour in Monument Valley in my last 4 trips. If you have a great shot of MV with nice clouds consider yourself lucky. :) This was taken during a 4 day blitz of the southwest with Flickr friend and photographer William McIntosh.

how it pertained to everything?

These were the last tasks in our painting course before the summer holidays. Our painting teacher brought us a couple of photos of birds that we were supposed to use as templates, but then freely and newly interpret them in an imaginative and colorful way on an abstract background. Acrylic on canvas, each 30x40 cm

These colourful fishing boats are all around the Maltese coast, but Marsaxlokk seems to have the most.

These petunias seem to be subject to some sort of somatic mutation, where the color gene(s) are not expressed in an early cell, and the white spot that cell develops into enlarges as the flower grows. I think. At any rate, these petunias are both beautiful.

Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?

These birds are fast fliers (approx. 50 mph/80 kph) and it's always a challenge to get a sharp shot as they zoom by. But bright light, a fast shutter speed, and practiced technique make it possible to highlight their beauty!

Have a great day, everyone...

These western birds have far more white on their backs than their eastern counterparts. Still as cheeky though and during the breeding season can be problematic when defending their territory, even knocking cyclists off their bicycles

A beautiful visitor of my garden after enjoying a lunch took this pose for a photo

My quilt for the swap is finished! It's 19.5" square.

These are the sunsets I don't get to see in the summer when the trees are in full bloom.

These birds are annoying. You cannot get close to them. If you do, it's only by accident, because you did not know the bird was in the tree you approached until it leaves at 150 mph, cackling at you all the way. VERY annoying...

These are the months we see these beautiful trees blooming in many states of the country. In the park in front of my house they use to bloom between March and April.

Ceiba speciosa / Paineira Rosa, already known by other uploads I did, here presented in two tones of pink.

Wish all of my Flickr friends a wonderful weekend, a blessed, happy and serene Easter!

These ladies look like they're about some serious business. I've been anticipating getting back to Africa and hope to experience some quality time with my favorite big cats. This one was taken in 2010 in Kenya. (Panthera leo)

These little Bewick's wrens are quite chatty as they explore their surroundings. This one told me to look for it in a bush, then soon emerged to this blackberry vine, and struck a classic wren pose.

Subalpine fir (native to high altitudes)

With floods on the way, I dived back to my first digital camera and a hike in Alaska. I shot a number of these. About as shot.

We don't have to evacuate, but some roads are closing. The emergency text system worked well last night. Stay safe, everyone, from omicron, floodwaters, and other dangers.

These two fellas sunbathing caught my eye instantly.

Anyone able to ID these? My mycology skills are close to non-existent. :D
