There are several railway and subway stations with the name "Broadway" bat this one is in Broadway & Union Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206
Pretty is their bright red feathers, Crimson Rosellas are the most timid of all the birds who visit my yard. They wait on the periphery until the other birds leave, and often there is no food left, but I always find some extra for these beauties.
There were comments on my shot of the North Train with the set of GP38's, and how people like them without the Mother/Slug set. I ran into this nice 4 pack of 38's at Bryant Yard on my way to work. The bummer was they were on their way to the shop for the day, but man the 3808 looks nice and clean! The IANR has retrofitted some of these 38's with a cylinder looking cover on top of the exhaust on some of the units to probably protect against sparks? Unfortunately one thing it does is collect fuel and then it dips down the middle of the units making them dirty over time. Not all of them have the retrofit.
There is no center post roof support. It was a first in structural engineering. Yorkminster Chapter House.
Apples hanging from the same tree as the previous one, all just before picking. This apple tree is one of the four old apple trees we have in our garden. We pick them and keep them in our cellar for several months.
Probably the most commonly seen hawk in the mid-latitudes of North America, red-tailed hawks are also amazingly variable in their plumage colors and patterns. The spring 2025 edition of Living Bird (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) has an instructive story on this variation, based on the doctoral dissertation of a student at Cornell. He concluded there are at least 16 subspecies of red-tailed hawks associated with fairly distinct geographic locations, with color variation relating to the habitat (e.g. light morphs in warm climates, dark morphs in cold climates).
There is only one place I know where I can consistently find these large turtles. I did not find out what they were called until just today.I had thought they were a larger variety of a Painted Turtle. But there coloration is different and they have grooved in maps on their shell rather than the smoother more green Painted Turtle.
…waiting for his great love
And for her he had stolen garlands of stars
And colorful fireflies
The music of the wind
It spread sweet notes
Perhaps the wait will not be in vain
And the beating heart
He puffed out his chest…

A keeper was playing with this branch and Amari was waiting for the right time to pounce and grab it.
"Now there's a darkness deep in me
I keep falling asleep
To these wicked dreams
Can't fight the darkness deep in me
It's where she likes to keep
Haunting my wicked dreams"

I happened upon this great grey owl in a location I hadn't seen one previously, perched up high in a tree. Not ideal, but I got out of the car and tried to get a decent photo. Nothing. Eventually, it flew across the road and perched on a fence post with its back to the bright sun. Typically, not ideal. However, the background was a line of frost and snow covered willow shrubs, and the crystals were melting in the warming sun, creating very bright highlights all over.
When photographed, but not in focus, those spectral highlights become discs of brighter light which are called 'circles of confusion'. Of course, bokeh is the out of focus portions of a photo. Hence the long and cryptic title. Hope you enjoy the image. Like the owl, I'm still on the fence about it.
There are two alleys in the San Francisco Mission District that are covered in murals - often painted on garage doors. This one is the only one with a fence in front. It features Iranian women who have spoken out against the authorities.
Happy New Year on this First Fenced Friday
Il mio destino non puo’ essere dominato; Ci puo’ essere una collaborazione e quindi , in un certo modo , essere orientato in una certa direzione; Tanto meno sono il comandante della mia anima, sono solo il suo passeggero piu rumoroso.
Aldous Leonard Huxley
My fate cannot be mastered; it can only be collaborated with and thereby, to some extent, directed. Nor am I the captain of my soul; I am only its noisiest passenger.

"Grown Seniority II"
Yesterday I discovered this wonderful static motif and took a picture of it with the X100. While editing, I got the idea to try out the pixel shift function of my Sony at these roots, which I hadn't done before. So I packed a tripod and went back today. 333 MB is the file grew up, the Sony App has created from the four RAW images, so much details there is to see at 100% and the result is impressive in my eyes.

Taken in Grizz country B.C, Canada. They were in the ditch and I was safely shooting from my truck. I think the bears were looking at some other people parked down the road with a dog barking from their vehicle, It gave me a chance to catch this before they all disappeared. WILD BEARS
in waves. Some surfers see it right away, others never do. To find success in surfing, we must learn to be in harmony with nature. This will bring a sense of peace. By sharing this peace, and contributing to other people's happiness, we can find the true meaning of life. Keep surfing . . . ~ Gerry Lopez

it 's hidden inside this changing blue. it comes from the other side of the sea or from that maritime castle that is drawning slowly.
just music. like a walk on the waves.
The False Garden Mantis I recently found in my potted Chrysanthemum is still there and came out yesterday as I was watering my plant. She then posed gracefully for me :)
I have another yellow Chrysanthemum in my flower bed and, today, found another, younger Mantis among the flowers but she quickly hid in the foliage when she saw me :( /
A violet -not scented variety unfortunately.
