Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)

Two years ago today I got a call from a fellow 'bird nerd' to say there was a Tawny in the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands, just behind the fire station. I beetled down to have a look and managed to find it. A few days later there were two in the tree. The only time I have seen Tawnies in the Wetlands.

if you look

I wasted almost a half box of Fujifilm instax film and was getting ready to complain to Fuji about bad film when I found I had left the lens cap on.

Duh....

There's always one that wants to take centre stage 😂

There are several benefits and reasons that make kayaking enjoyable such as: It is a low impact outdoor exercise activity that helps in enriching the mind, as well as the body. It helps people to explore the waters and the surroundings that they paddle in which are diverse. 692-911

There are tears for pain and tears for joy. Sometimes it is just for the moment. Like the words unspoken leaking from the soul.

There are many windpumps scattered around the Norfolk countryside and they were originally used to drain the land. They are in various states of decay and people often mistake them for windmills. This one at Horsey is on the broads not far from Winterton-on-sea and is maintained by the National Trust (NT)

This male Yellow-rumped Warbler stretches to see if there are any insects in the leaves at the end of this branch. I heard him before I saw him and I had to wait a while for him to come close enough for a good photo.

{ Way Back Into Love ! ~

“He would have told her - he would have said, it matters not if you are here or there, for I see you before me every moment. I see you in the light of the water, in the swaying of the young trees in the spring wind. I see you in the shadows of the great oaks, I hear your voice in the cry of the owl at night. You are the blood in my veins, and the beating of my heart. You are my first waking thought, and my last sigh before sleeping. You are - you are bone of my bone, and breath of my breath.”

There is no royal road to anything. One thing at a time, all things in succession. That which grows fast, withers as rapidly. That which grows slowly, endures.

Hi my friends,

Slowly returning and even more slowly, adding photos to my rather empty stream. And absolutely at snail’s pace, attempting to get round to visiting you all.

It will happen !! 🙌😂

Hugs and love xo

The end of Fall is getting there. As I am, in slowly catching up on Flickr after being away. This image was taken while out on a photo walk in a local park. The time change to shorter days is around the corner and the birds that remain for the winter seem to be aggressively eating at the backyard feeder - at least until some very furry looking squirrels chase them away to get at it for themselves. I may have to get a live trap to relocate these persistent and smart little rodents. In the mean time, have a Happy Sliders Sunday!

Rainbow forms and stretches out over the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon.

Another photographer was going home disappointed like me after hoping it would be a lovely red sunset :)

There is no way I will get there on time.

First sunset is missed.

I planned to get to the Dead Sea on time for the sunset time.

No problem.

Another day.

Thank you for visiting my photo stream.

On my way home from dinner with Friends. Just slightly drunk but sober enough to take that shot. Considering Dinner with friends a real luxury is a viewpoint I had to aquire...

These are redwoods from a grove up in Northern California, in Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park. These awe-inspiring, beautiful giants have been there for a while, some of them perhaps for a thousand, perhaps even fifteen hundred years. Will they still be there two hundred years from now? Or five hundred years from now?

thanks for comments faves and invites much appreciated

With such power in its claws and sharp Talons, it is able to grab and hold on too its prey.

A long exposure, landscape image of a giant tree growing in Kondalilla National Park in Queensland, Australia.

There seems to be a lot of these Yellow Poppies (or Welsh Poppies) growing in the woods near Tom's Forest Quarry, they do make a pretty sight.

There is not much snow this year in the winter but somehow for me the winter looks still a little more photogenic than warmer seasons
