The English Language Fellow Program sends experienced U.S. TESOL professionals on paid teaching assignments at universities and other academic institutions around the world. As a U.S. Department of State public diplomacy initiative, Fellows are cultural ambassadors that promote English language learning and mutual understanding through cultural exchange.
From August 6-8, 2019, over 200 Fellows going to over 75 countries to teach English and train teachers met in Washington, DC for the Pre-Departure Orientation. Representing the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, Assistant Secretary Marie Royce and State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus spoke at the event.
