"Success in English, success in life". This motto struck me, as I was doing some sociological thinking about the branding of English language teaching in China. The woman washing her clothes in the foreground river is a stark contrast to the motto. It wasn't until I left the country and checked the photo, that I realised it was an advertisment for the college that I taught at for a week and a half. Omeida Language College had a marketing campaign all down the Yulong River and outskirts of Yangshuo.

Son is a town in the municipality of Alt Àneu, in the Pallars Sobirà region, located on a plateau to the left of the Son River, near the confluence of the Noguera Pallaresa and Bonaigua valleys, at 1,387 m. 8 meters of altitude.
The Lombard bell tower and the commune of the Romanesque church of Saints Justo and Pastor stand on the bottom of the mountain range and the summit of Tesol or Téso de Son (2670 meters) that separate the valleys of Bonaigua and Espot, in the valley of Àneu.
Son es un pueblo del término municipal de Alt Àneu, en la comarca del Pallars Sobirà, situado en una meseta a la izquierda del Río de Son, cerca de la confluencia entre el valle del Noguera Pallaresa y la de la Bonaigua, a 1.387,8 metros de altitud.

Representing the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, Assistant Secretary Marie Royce and State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus spoke at the event.

TEFL Lab is located in a beautiful five-storey Georgian townhouse on London’s famous Bloomsbury Square, a stone’s throw from the British Museum. Overlooking the square to the front and the Duke of Bedford’s private gardens to the rear, the building has been sympathetically modernised to retain its character while offering the very latest in teaching facilities. We don’t think you’ll find a nicer place to study!

Public Elementary Teacher Manuela del Pino has been awarded a scholarship from the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo to participate in the E-Teacher Program 2011 for English Teachers.
This program offers online teacher training courses in various TESOL areas for English teachers from all over the world by prestigious U.S. Universities.
Ms. Del Pino, who participated in the 10-week “Methods I: Best Practices in TESOL” for Fall Term 2011 (September 22 – December 14, 2011) came to the Embassy on March 22nd, to receive her certificate from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
