"teach our children how to speak up, how to love one another, how to understand each other, how to solve conflicts, how to live with diverse and sometimes conflicting ideologies, and give them the skills to enter a world that doesn't know how to do this"

"Each one teach one" is an African American proverb. Seen on East 4th Street between Avenues A and B, in New York City.
"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary".
Right now I teach 40 first graders who barely know any English. It is really challenging, but oh so rewarding... I don't know what I would do if I didn't TEACH. I feel so lucky that I do it with a passion, that apart from the pain it is waking up early, I always get out of bed happy in the knowledge I am on my way to meet those little rascals. That beyond the brain-numbing task it is to write lesson plans and grade papers my job will have an impact in their lives.
Not only do I teach, but when I think about it I learn so much from them too. I learn to not be so complex in my thinking.I learn to take things lightly. That I can always find a kind word if I really try. Because teachers or not, we are all learners.
May the world never cease to amaze you, to inspire you. May we all never stop learning, as learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." O.W.
"La maggior parte della gente è altra gente. Le loro idee sono opinioni altrui, la loro vita un'imitazione, le loro passioni una citazione." O.W.

“Teach me, O God, not to torture myself, not to make a martyr out of myself through stifling reflection, but rather teach me to breathe deeply in faith.”

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset"

Earth teach me suffering ~ as old stones suffer with memory.
Earth teach me humility ~ as blossoms are humble with beginning.
Earth teach me caring ~ as mothers nurture their young.
Earth teach me courage ~ as the tree that stands alone.
Earth teach me limitation ~ as the ant that crawls on the ground.
Earth teach me freedom ~ as the eagle that soars in the sky.
Earth teach me acceptance ~ as the leaves that die each fall.
Earth teach me renewal ~ as the seed that rises in the spring.
Earth teach me to forget myself ~ as melted snow forgets its life.
Earth teach me to remember kindness ~ as dry fields weep with rain."
