There was a time when I did tarot card readings all. the. time. on myself. Then I got a this new Aleister Crowley Thoth tarot deck and I wasn't feeling it anymore, so I stopped. The cards are so pretty though, but I liked my Rider-Waite Tarot cards much better.

Aparte de los símbolos tradicionales de las cartas, Dalí incluyó “ecos” de sus propias obras, por ejemplo su famoso reloj derretido. Incluso se retrató a sí mismo para el arcano III, El Mago.
La esposa de Dalí, Gala, creía firmemente en la capacidad adivinatoria de las cartas y en la suya propia. Para ella no se trataba de un juego, ni mucho menos una distracción: era el patrón a través del cual analizaba su vida y la de Dalí día a día, actuando en consecuencia según el dictado de los naipes.
Gala genero en Dalí el interés por las cartas del Tarot, hasta el punto de que el pintor se dejaba dirigir por las predicciones que Gala diariamente le realizaba al despertar. This card occupies a unique position in the Tarot because no number is assigned to it -- its Key is Zero -- and it is sometimes positioned at the beginning of the Major Arcana and sometimes at the end. The Fool represents both the beginning and the culmination of the mystical quest.
The Fool is the eternal youth, *puer aetermus*, and he we seem him about to step off a cliff into the abyss below. In his left hand he carries a white rose representing spiritual desire, and in his right hand a staff or wand. Dangling from the end of the staff is a little bag or wallet containing the four elements -- Fire, Water, Earth and Air.
I did a tarot reading tonight using cards from the Mythic Tarot Deck - yes I'm into that kind of stuff :)
Tarot is a French game which I have learnt to play recently, it is similar to Belote (of which I am an avid adept) but plays with 78 cards instead of a normal deck. There are between 3 and 5 five of us French expat meeting up for a few hours every week end for a game, any excuse to speak French and play card and what was complete strangers meeting to play cards is soon turning into fast friends.

I've been wanting to incorporate Tarot cards into a ceremony for awhile now, but given their unpredictable nature during a standard reading, it's not easy. So instead of drawing cards at random like a reading, we all picked cards that represented the energies we wanted to bring into the season and our lives, and placed those cards on our altar. It was neat!
