I'm very honored to be part of the Avatar Tarot Deck project. This will be a fully scripted deck with several spread options, with images depicting our version of the card.
This is my slightly edgy take on Justice. It was shot at the Walls of Freedom (huge thanks to Karisha Terebun for all her help).

This one was interesting because I did a lot more touching up in photoshop because I liked the base render so much but it had a lot of strange flaws. So I decided to go with it and use photoshop's tools and generative fill to extend the background and make the poster.
And then to top it off, I added a bit of graininess and a warm filter to the rendering to give it a more poster feel.

The Reunion of a fools and lovers. They share the same interests drinking from the cups of their desires... all fools lost in a void of love and lies. A tale of fools that will never break ties.
What soothes the beast? Let's take that apart,
little by bit,
peel and pull at the crumbs of it.
Beasts: not bloody maniacs, not always
brutes. Sometimes, just standing outside the lines, making their own way. Sometimes loyal and self possessed, sometimes so good stepping to drummers only they hear, wind up, catalize. They sometimes are breathing courage from their snouts.
When they trod, reeds bend under their mighty paws. Grasses supple and also strong, flexible. When they rest, birds stay ready, vigilant, able to sound alarms. When they
run
we make way because
there is probably a reason.
These things fall in line around, envelope, they stay the same but take a new shape. They do not ask the beast to be what it is not, do they? They accept without condition.
Just as the sea hums to the shore and the thinnest line separates yin from yang, her small nimble fingers stroke its chin. It chuffs a sigh, the scent of the wilderness strong in its body.
She might love it still. She might accept it, even appreciate its wild nature
its polar qualities.
She might love it still and learn to bend like reeds,
grasses supple and strong.

Die Mässigkeit
Sie ist ein Kompromiss ein Mittelweg.
In der Kuppel überfängt eine Kapelle mit einer schwarzen Madonna und mit vielen Spiegeln, die den Kosmos Reflektieren. Es ist ein magischer Raum, die Reflexion der Reflexion.
Der Engel ist die Bekrönung der Kapelle der Mässigkeit.

Tarot cards were used from the 1400's for card games in Europe. In the 1700's they were also used for divination, which is telling the future and the unknown.
SoCal
This is Niki de Saint Phalle’s esoteric sculpture garden based on the Tarot cards, located in Tuscany, Italy. This project started in the late seventies and ended when Niki passed away in 2002.
A small, beautiful exhibit of playing cards at the Cloisters, the medieval branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The playing cards here are part of the Visconti Tarot dating from 1450
