Flemish manufactory - Tapestry depicting the resurrection of Lazarus (1515-1520) - wool/silk loom work measures: 286 cm x 205 cm - Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco Milan

Brussels. City hall.

In the long rear wing is the Statenzaal, built in the early 18th century for the States of Brabant and then used by the Brussels city council. The sumptuous decoration is the work of Victor Honoré Janssens. He made the ceiling painting with an Assembly of the Gods and also the cartoons for the three Brussels tapestries with scenes from the history of Brabant. The three paintings between the windows show female figures representing the cities of Antwerp, Brussels and Leuven against a golden background. The wooden benches are arranged in a U-shape.

The Borromean Palace on Isola Bella Island in Lake Maggiore Italy has a set of magnificent tapestries dating from around 1565. The detail is quite amazing and many of the colors have been retained. I guess wild life on the island was quite unique back in 1565 !!!LOL !!!

Ah, who doesn’t need a big hug at the end of the day? This design, in the happy colours of ‘Kiss’, has two hands to hold you. It will be there for you when you feel lonely. ‘Hug’ can also be made as a loving gift for someone you know who needs one.

The large kit is worked with Appleton Brothers tapestry wools in counted cross stitch on Zweigart 7 h.p.i. canvas. The small kit is worked with 2 strands of Appleton Brothers crewel wool in counted cross stitch on Zweigart 10 h.p.i. canvas. The design is worked from the easy-to-follow colour chart provided.

Working with tapestry wools on the larger 7 h.p.i. canvas (large size) gives a beautiful chunky, hand-made finish. The crewel wools worked on the 10 h.p.i. (small size) give an elegant, smoother finish more associated with traditional tapestry.

In life we weave a great tapestry, an intricate design of everyday monotonies and thoughts interspersed with broad stokes of love and loss, highlights and lowlights.

One of Nick's art projects is a large piece of paper that he draws on occasionally while watching TV. It's been ongoing for a few years now, and has many more to go before it will be filled. The other day I was studying his array of geometric and abstract patterns. From a distance the patterns mingle with elusive meaning. But on closer inspection, it reveals a story of thoughts and events in his life highlighting important places to him or symbols of meaningful thoughts or books. In between the stories are shapes and patterns without meaning to themselves, but in the grand scheme serve to fill and connect the stories. Without them, the stories would not flow and evolve.

Such are the little moments in life. The everyday routines, the quiet moments, the morning run, the dinners with family, the Netflix and chill. What we fill our time with between the highs and lows, the filler, is just as important as the broad strokes in our tapestry of life. It doesn't need to be grand...just appreciated and nurtured.

The library has been restored identically, even though it lost part of its decoration during a fire in June 1957. It presents a library cabinet two-body nineteenth century, decorated with pilasters, diamonds, friezes of shells and tracery in the style of the Renaissance and a furniture set Napoleon III era: indiscreet, sofa and armchairs. Three tapestries woven in Aubusson in the seventeenth century illustrate three episodes of the life of Alexander the Great (The triumphal entry of Alexander into the city of Babylon, The submission of the family of Darius and the Meeting of Porus and Alexander) .

I have a feeling this is a Registrar’s title. The birds resemble the dove in Rattner’s “Noah and the Dove”.

It was interesting and a surprise to see these tapestries hanging randomly in a exhibit of Florida crafts. I had never seen them unwrapped, they spent their time rolled and wrapped in brown paper on a upper shelf with tapestries by Shahn and Hirsch. I thought that like the other artists tapestries we carried they were woven in France but the reference I found on line said they were Israeli but I am not sure if that is a manufacturer or a geographic designation.

May your New Year bring new beginnings, fresh friendships, bright hope, and peace! Together we can do great things...(P.S.--I cropped the original full size Polaroid image to a square format).

The sandstone in this narrow slot canyon in California is painted in varying warm hues of reflected sunlight like a royal tapestry curtain hanging from a large, timeless window.

The soft focus on the sides guides the eye forwards and inwards, giving you the feeling of walking through the narrow, sinuous halls of the canyon, enveloped in warm and colorful hues of richly textured sandstone.

The slot canyons here in California are numerous, diverse, unique and gorgeous. Yet they are virtually unknown to most people who focus almost entirely on those found in Utah and Arizona. I have had the incredibly great blessing of being able to live relatively close to the desert, so I've spent the better part of the last 4 years' worth of weekend trips during the cooler months out exploring the Colorado & Mojave Desert regions and finding many new slot canyons to explore and photograph. They have become something of a passion and speciality for me, which is why you see so many of them on my feeds and website.

This image was named after the song of the same name, which sings of God's love as a "Tapestry of Grace" that we are wrapped up in. This Christmas, I like to remember what this incredibly joyous holiday is all about – God's immense and indescribable love in sending his son Jesus to redeem us from our sins and give us hope, love and a future home in Heaven. All we must do is use our faith to believe. We are saved only by His grace.

One of the ten fresco fragments of Angels by Melozzo da Forlì in Room IV of the Pinacoteca.

The room displays 14 fragments from the 'Ascension of Christ' fresco rescued from the ceiling apse of the Church of the Santi Dodici Apostoli (Church of the Twelve Apostles) in Rome. There are 4 fragments of Apostles and 10 fragments of Angels, most depicting playing music. They are quite beautiful.

The frescoes were painted by Melozzo da Forlì (aka Melozzo degli Ambrosi) around 1480, but the ceiling was demolished in 1711 when the church underwent major renovation.

Dreamscope filter was probably an Indian or Islamic tapestry or painting. I ran it through Topaz Clean to change it from dots to more line-based styling, and boosted it with some Pixel Benders Oil Paint. Then I blended in some of the colors of the original photo for better readability.

Rug////Tapestry = Your choice

This rug or tapestry was a favorite of mine for years before I regretfully gave it away during one of our cleaning binges. I used it as a wall art showing off it's soft orange, white and brown color hues. Dated 60''s or early 70's. Material had a soft furry feel.

These are photos taken on my trip to Europe and the UK with a girl friend in October to November 2012. My camera I had then wasn't good with low light so some of these shots are not great but I have put them as my memories of the trip.

After Portsmouth were stopped at Bosham for a walk around. It was late in the afternoon and just getting dark so most of my photos were not very good. They are memories so have put them in my trip photos.

Bosham is a small attractive village on one of the small inlets of Chichester harbour, has played an important part in the history of this country over the centuries.

Inhabited by the Romans, Bosham was the sixth most important town in Sussex in the 8th century. Legend has it that the Danish King Canute sat on a chair surrounded by his courtiers and commanded the waves to go back - they did not, an exercise which showed that even the great Canute was mortal; he got his feet wet! King Canute's eight year old daughter was drowned in the Brook Stream and is buried in Bosham Church in a Saxon coffin at the foot of the chancel steps.

It was from Bosham that Harold II set forth in 1064 to negotiate with William of Normandy, a voyage that led to William the Conqueror's return in 1066; Bosham features in the Bayeaux Tapestry.
