A synergy is where different entities cooperate advantageously for a final outcome.
Wonderful apart, stunning together.
How can I resist them?

My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness
Early on in the COVER OF NIGHT series, I shot a couple gas stations. They were not initially the type scene I was looking to capture, but when I came across one late at night, bright and isolated in the darkness, it was impossible for me to resist, so I continue to shoot them. I have now shot enough that they have become a series-within-the-series. For a look at them as a collection, check out, Gas Stations

Everywhere I go, She whispers,
tickling the back of the hairs on my neck,
stroking or sending a chill, prickles of knowing.
Strange pink birds and the same numbers,
songs someone wrote for M/me…
There are songs I/ive sung through our lips.
‘’Yes,’’ She says, ‘’a little farther now, a little steadier,’’
You see, I am an Earthling through and through, Starboy. You swim with fish and
light matches. I’m the fertile ground after the blaze.
Cradling dragon eggs between my palms I crouch, ready,
but you both know I get distracted by the roaring sounds of the last waters that
broke my levees. They crashed in upon me unawares.
Sing me songs til I cannot remember, if you will,
but I’ll be churning around, fighting for the mouth of the aqueduct
just the same. She sends me pink birds and
suns and moons or
little bits of conversations, words that light up like neon signs.
She sends dreams my ancestors pressed into the stone.
It’s everywhere I go, these days, these strange days when I am always stranger.
Everything is stacked up just like She told me in the times of the parallel lines.
Giants and satin, rounded shoes that lace up just so. Statues and warriors.
Angels and rams, rabbits that linger, parasitic plants that mages thought fed hosts.
Is this the prize or the arcade? A penny for your thoughts, no, hold them,
keep them, this is not about validation this time.
I’ll pay pipers. Have paid them. They owe me one or two, in fact, credit on account.
On account of these little moments that pile atop each other, I can trust whispers I
haven’t even heard yet.
My sternum vibrates with them just the same.
If you knew, you know…
I might be the oldest child in the room but I’m a quick study,
and trust me, my notebooks are full.

Walking through the forest, just as dawn broke, I came upon this small branch jut out defiantly. I wondered if the spiders thread represented a task unfinished or destroyed. Yet, it seemed to bind all the four leaves, drawing them closer. Added sepia tone and increased the contrast.
Did you know that wine corks are made from oak bark? Wine barrels are predominantly made of oak. Grape vines and oak trees thrive in similar conditions and grow in close proximity in California. Isn't nature beautiful?.....View On Black
Iris germanica 'Synergy' in the rain. If you're in the Northampton or Western MA area, in the next week or so, the irises at Smith College's Capen Garden are exquisite right now. Even in the rain. 💗

Choir close-up from one of the only available angles. Was a bit worried about the railing, things like that can catch a TLR user out. Had no choice about the DoF for this one, I like it anyway.

First I meant the synergy of blue and yellow. But then started to doubt...And...the saying in the bottom appeared.
Now, I think, the "synergy" is even more powerful :)
