Paso de ser un gigante poderoso a una ameba microscópica. De pronto me vuelvo un gigante de nuevo: corro, camino, canto, bailo, y al instante soy una bacteria facultativa, q por momentos se vuelve simbiótica.
Soy una niña pequeña, para luego convertirme en adulta, y luego niña otra vez.

The back of the switch shows that same heat damage - and the connector was actually lose, the plastic having melted. The insulation on the connector was largely gone - what remained was crispy black burned plastic. Luck be my Viva's guardian.

Evolution of a Pittsburgh company:
For 125 years, Union Switch & Signal has set the pace for the industry in the development of reliable signaling and train control, wayside equipment and relays. US&S: design, manufacture and service of signaling, automation and control equipment for the railroad and mass transit industries worldwide. The company still has its headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
George Westinghouse founded Union Switch & Signal in 1881, consolidating the assets of companies that had pioneered closed track circuits and interlockings. Operating as an independent company until 1917, US&S became a subsidiary of Westinghouse Air Brake. In 1968, American Standard purchased the entire operation and reorganized US&S as a separate division. In 1988, Ansaldo purchased US&S from American Standard. In December 1996, US&S merged with the other signaling investments of Ansaldo located around the world. As a result of that merger, US&S is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ansaldo Signal, a global supplier. Company headquarters are still located in Pittsburgh.

A very short branch off the Housatonic led to Fairfield Hills Hospital. This switch is where the branch split into a couple of tracks.
Not really sure why I went to the Tate Modern after work this evening, as I'd already got quite a few photos I liked this morning, in the beautiful sunshine - but the sky the last couple of evenings has been so dramatic I hoped I might catch something similar. Had a good day at work and got a few things cleared. Actually starting to feel like I'm getting back on top of things now, just before I go away for conference and get behind again!
I was chatting to my colleague Daissy about 'date nights,' then found myself suggesting to Tim that we go out for dinner. We always find it very hard to resist when the other suggests going out, and today was no exception. We went for a lovely, long, lingering meal at our new favourite Indian restaurant in Blackheath. A happy start to the weekend :)
