A brakeman throws the switch for RPRC SW1200 #68 as it heads back toward the locomotive storage area after dropping off a cut of cars.
These switches were quite a challenge. They needed a lot of adjustment. The back of the switching section rotates on a 2x2 rotating plate. The front is connected by two joiner to a sliding 1x10 plate in the middle.

SWITCH is a control unit in the form of a flat display and it’s made out of organic materials. With it, you can toggle back and forth between ON and OFF, and thanks to its versatility, it’s convenient to take along wherever you go. You can configure the corresponding picture symbols any way you want, and it’s also up to you what you want to control with SWITCH. As for the actual mode of operation, there are various sensors available—for instance, that react to sounds, brightness/darkness or temperature changes. In this open lab, you build your own SWITCH and combine it with the fabrications of the other participants into a highly detailed “Big Picture.”

Mechanical timer built from a battery powered clock mechanism. it uses a wheel on an eccentric shaft to trigger the micro roller switch. The other two switches control the overall (master) output.
STER lifts a boxcar out of the siding just west of Clearview Drive on the outskirts of Tillsonburg. Once the train is back together the crew will cross the impressive trestle and head for the yard where they will switch for couple hours before heading east to Delhi to service Growmark.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Amtrak switcher organizes the combined California Zephyr, Pioneer and Desert Wind in 1990.
Wiring the switches into position. Note that we are using 3G1.5 cable, so the grounding cable is just cut.
Switch is positioned so that it's on the outside of the canister when mounted. You push it forward to switch the lamp on, and back to switch it off (mounted on right hip).
