Beautiful big Swift Moths attracted to the lights, south of Dover, Tasmania. The birds were lapping them up. During the night we watched pairs of Tawny Frogmouths collecting them up. They caught them, sat on the ground ripping off the wings then eating them. During the day the Grey shrike thrushes and the Dusky Robins cleaned up the remainders who survived on the walls.

Visit with Runyon to Swift Run Dog Park (near the intersection of Platt and Ellsworth and across the street from Lillie Park). From the City site: "The joint city-county Swift Run Dog Park is located at the northeast corner of the Swift Run landfill. It is bounded on the north by Ellsworth Road and on the east by Platt Road. The 10-acre Swift Run Dog Park is maintained in partnership with Washtenaw County with financial contributions from both the city and county." What a wonderful visit with Runyon and I today. He loves playing with the other dogs and it is great to see him run wide open. Pictures from Saturday October 3rd (a birthday present to myself) during our normal time with his morning crew. He really does like going to the Dog Park with his peeps!
It's wonderful to have the "screaming" swifts back for another summer. All three taken in the early morning.

The Alpine Swift. This species of Swift is the most highly migratory of all known avian species. They breed in the mountain ranges of Europe and the Himalayas, but often winter as far south as Southern Africa. This species mates for life, and makes their nests in caves or on cliffs, returning to the same site every year. They average approximately 9 inches (23 cm) in length, and possess an average wingspan of 22 inches (57 cm). Recent studies utilizing advanced tagging has revealed an astonishing fact. During their migrations, these birds remain in the air for as long as 200 days...without landing! Exactly how they can manage this remains a scientific mystery to date. #ourbreathingplanet

Swift Campout is a loosely organized (if at all) event, in a way, where people are encouraged to go on overnight bicycle camping trips. The first Swift Campout was organized by Swift Industries, a Seattle-based company that makes bags and accessories for bicycle touring, about 5 years ago as a means of self promotion (it seems) and to encourage group rides and exploration of parks and campgrounds within an easy ride.

TAYLOR SWIFT AND THE ART OF PUBLIC RELATIONS-
Whether in politics or business, the art of public relations can decide success or failure. A large part of my career has been in public relations, and I've seen the possibilities of public relations (Brian Mulroney and Pierre Péladeau ).
Artist Taylor Swift has a communications specialist on her team who ensures that the message is the one she wants to communicate. You could say that the art of communication is the art of conveying the message you want to transmit.
