YJ09FHX is a Bova Futura FHD127 C53Ft purchased new by Reays of Wigton in April 2009. It joined the Barrhead based Swift Coaches fleet in January 2016.
Obelisking in the heat at the nature center. Passion flowers were blooming but not much was flying other than bumblebees. Very few butterflies ...
Winner, Beautiful World Challenge Group 10, Insects, 3-11
They have been here a few days, but this was the first time I've seen them as a group, and had a chance to get a shot.
I used an Olympus dot sight for these, which makes it easier to follow them as they dart around.
The Pacific Swift is a 111 ft, Canadian square topsail schooner looking like a pirate ship. She was built in 1986 by the Sail and Life Training Society to provide 5- to 10-day sail training programs for young people and day sails for S.A.L.T.S. members around Vancouver Island and along the coast of British Columbia.
The Pacific Swift has also completed four offshore voyages, some of more than a year in duration. Her offshore travels have taken her to Australia and Europe, to remote communities on Easter and Pitcairn Island, and to many other far-flung ports of call. Taken at Port Townsend's 2018 Wooden Boat Festival,
Some swifts have been looking into the eaves of our house recently. I just wish they would slow down!

It took a lot of shots to get one worth posting! These birds are FAST! Did you know their feet and legs are so tiny they can barely walk but in the air they are incredible.

They are swift shadows of the passions that beat in my heart with every wing-stroke of pinion and bone.
Well it's flown flown from my shed roof of up the road. Not sure how it will get on but we've given it a chance.

So good to see the ever increasing "Scream" of Swifts flying over my Garden. Taken from my bedroom window.
Club class onboard the Irish Ferries Dublin Swift between Dublin & Holyhead.
With stunning views at the front of the catamaran, the club class cabin has upgraded reclining seats, quiet compartment, USB charging, free internet over the free 20 minute access, with complimentary snacks & drinks, well worth the 18 euros extra fee.
The large on black view is a must here.
Another shot from the crow's nest at the Swift Meat Packing Ruins, near the stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas.
I was never completely happy with my original image of this scene at the Swift Plant; so when I revisited the site again back in February with Chris & Tom (who was visiting from El Paso), I got the opportunity to shoot it once again, this time with some interesting cloud cover! Unfortunately though, as we saw these spectacular clouds rolling in on a lower floor of the building on what had been a clear night, I wasn't able to make to the roof as quickly as I had hoped, as we ran into some urbex guys and I was delayed chatting long enough that the leading edge of these clouds had already passed through by the time I was able to make this shot.
All things considered, I still like the shot, but if I could have gotten there 3 or 4 minutes sooner... :-)
Night, dark of the moon, ambient sodium & mercury vapor light, 2 minute exposure.
A mighty Leyland Olympian still in service with Swift coaches at Barrhead on schools services and one of a trio of vehicles acquired after the demise of Brightbus. Still in the lurid green livery in which it came it is seen in the depot yard next to a Leyland Tiger. There can't be many operators where that still happens. It was new to Kowloon Motor Bus and was imported by Stagecoach for Magicbus duties in Manchester.
We have a very small number this year, all nesting in the one old barn. Now I'm getting on top of their flight plans, it's getting easier to catch them, but still a way to go.
