Early shot today, mainly as I won't be taking the camera with me to work as I'm out tonight. A good friend of mine from work is leaving and so we'll be celebrating/commiserating his departure with large amounts of alcohol... not the best environment for my camera :)
One of my 'reserve house shot ideas' was to get a colourful photo of this box of sweets, a Christmas stocking filler from my lovely wife. Seemed like a good time to do it today seeing as I was in need of such an emergency shot to keep up the project!

This dessert was something I once posted as something I desired. I remember looking at this decadent sweet when it was presented to my family and me on our table in Walt Disney World thinking that it was capable of causing me a weeklong stomachache. I refrained from enjoying the dessert with my sisters, but looked on in envy.
After looking through photos of my food from throughout this semester, I have realized that, for me, it is no longer about the taste of the food itself. I should not look back on this evening with my family and feel left out or deprived because I didn't eat the cookies and ice cream. I should remember the excitement on my baby sister's face when the waiter brought out this pastel colored cookies and cream or the wonderful wine and stories shared by my parents that evening. Now that I am mature enough to not obsess or focus only on my personal struggles, I can fully immerse myself in the familial bonding experience.
Yes, the food was beautiful, but the pain the sugar and dairy would cause my stomach was not even worth one bite!

The quality of ice cream is superb, in no small part because of unique ingredients ( e.g. Andean Blackberry, Matte and many-many others).
I absolutely loved every flavor tasted.
Sticky pecan, cinnamon buns in a paper lined glass baking dish drizzled with caramel sauce. The light glints off of the shiny caramel.
This MSH title hit me as a great picture op to have at Easter time, what with the abundance of chocolate eggs and all. The trouble was, I ate all mine before I could take any photos.
So I went to the shops to buy some more eggs, just for the photo. But again, I ate them all before any photo ideas came to mind.
Finally I made a third trip to the shops, but this time they'd sold right out of eggs.
Thinking that I'd eaten my big chance at taking a good picture for this cateogry, I was lamenting the situation to my housemate one evening, when she revealed, albeit a little hesitantly, that she still had an egg left - one which she'd been hiding in her room, ever so shrewdly, from me.
I was allowed to use the egg for the photo, but was under strict instructions NOT to eat it. I'm sure you can guess how that went.
With a little luck, she'll start talking to me again soon.
