Hello all!

I am proud to announce that I will be a participant of Spring 2010 Rickshaw

Run. The Rickshaw Run coordinates a fleet of 64 rickshaws to travel across

the subcontinent of India, covering thousands of miles of questionable

terrain and navigating over mountains, through dirt tracks, tropical jungle,

and monsoons in around two weeks. The Spring 2010 Rickshaw Run will take

place from March 28th to April 11th, 2010. For more information on the

Rickshaw Run, please feel free to visit the website:

rickshawrun.theadventurists.com.

This year, we will be raising funds for the Mercy Corps (

mercycorps.org.uk ),

which exists to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping

people build secure, productive and just communities, and Frank Water

Projects (http://www.frankwater.com), which funds facilities that use the

the world's most effective water filtering processes.

I am a part of Team Elephant, along with Danielle, Matti, and Alex, one of

the 64 teams departing from Cochin in Kerala and journeying to the Kingdom

of Sikkim in the Himalayas this spring. The elephant, historically and in

many cultures, has symbolized ancient power, feminine strength, wisdom, and

the highest true self. Our mission for the Spring 2010 Rickshaw Run is to

raise awareness of the charities cited above, in addition to promoting

cultural understanding between the UK and India and appealing to the

adventurous, creative spirit in all of us.

In lieu of Christmas presents this year, I would request that you please

visit our donation page and make a donation, however small:

www.justgiving.com/Team-Elephant/

Just 5 pounds, dollars, or euros from each one of you can make a tremendous

difference. Each person who donates will have their name written on a

ribbon, which will then be weaved into a wreath that will adorn our rickshaw

during the entire length of the trip. Pictures of the wreath, our team, our

rickshaw, and our journey will be sent to each one of our kind supporters.

Here is our team website:

rickshawrun10s.theadventurists.com/team-elephant Stay tuned for

updates on our blog and pictures as we approach spring 2010. Thanks so much

for your support, and happy holidays!

All the best,

Renee Fidz

Thursday night I returned to Providence with bryanj87

and Macedo295 for some additional night shooting. We started at the Point St. Bridge and continued south from there. It was easy to manage the cold with enough layers but the wind posed quite a challenge. Camera shake and wind driven debris were quite common, changing lenses was not.

The moving clouds in this image caught my eye as well as the support structures. I used a halogen flashlight to illuminate the image a little.

As Moby writes, the bill restoring funding has passed and the governor has indicated he will sign it (see dist08.casen.govoffice.com for more info)

But it still would be helpful to contact him asking him to sign SB3x13 and to make sure there is long term funding for domestic violence prevention programs (this is just a temporary measure for this year)

Thanks to the generous support of the Sydney Swans, the match with Port Adelaide was dedicated to raising funds for Redkite and the families they support, with a celebrity AFL match between teams captained by the ABC's Adam Spencer and Nova's Merrick Watts.

Crowds arrive at the rally in Hyde Park.

A huge crowd - reportedly the largest ever for Palestine in the UK - gathered in London (and in other cities across the UK and around the world) to protest the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza. Organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War, Friends of al-Aqsa, CND, and others, the march started outside BBC HQ, in Portland Place, and headed via the US Embassy to Hyde Park.
