In the early evening of 10 August 2024, I captured a unique image of the Sun. It clearly shows sunspot AR3780, a particularly pronounced active region of our star, testifying to the intense magnetic activity on its surface.
At the same time, a Ryanair plane, a Boeing 737 flying from Venice to Birmingham, crossed the solar disc, providing a spectacular superposition between a natural celestial phenomenon and a human presence in the sky.
This photograph illustrates both the cosmic grandeur of the forces that drive our Sun and the finesse of an ephemeral moment when astronomy meets aviation...

There is also a garden around the main building.
In playing with making simple superpositions in photoshop, it's been amazing to discover how so many of my images echo the form of this particular spiderweb that was laid over them. Art really does imitate nature.
.......
Superposition of two photos and then joined together.with my camera First photo was a cloudy sky and the second photo the table of my living room with four mugs which were reflected on the table with a light .
Bighorn canyon cut through the north end of the Bighorn Mountains at Bull Elk Ridge. Here the canyon is about 2500 feet deep. This view is taken from just outside the National Recreation Area on the Dryhead but the Canyon lies in the NRA. The haze in the sky is from a wildfire on Buffalo Flats on The Crow Reservation.

I think there's a science lesson right here on the beach. Too bad there are no students around. Wait. What am I saying? I take that back.

A relatively recent discovery in the realm of physics, quantum entanglement is bizarre, eerie, mysterious, and seemingly magical. Albert Einstein shied away from the theory, calling it "spooky action at a distance." Since then, however, numerous experiments have confirmed this strange phenomenon. Basically, entangled particles can be separated from each other, over incredibly long distances--light years, in fact--and still mysteriously change when its partner is acted upon, almost as if there were an invisible umbilical cord connecting them. This seemingly conscious connection between entangled particles even occurs faster than the speed of light, a fact that made Einstein so leery about this possibility. The frontier of scientific discovery always has been a place of wonder, imagination, curiosity and delight, and never more so than in our time. This topic is very complex; this is only the most basic description of the phenomenon, and I am but an enthralled layman. That aside, it's incredibly fascinating--I suggest you take the time to learn a little about it! The ramifications of this discovery are very interesting--some even speculate that people can be entangled in a way, an incredibly fascinating ramification that only suggests something many of us believe anyway, though for different reasons.
Needless to say, the Universe is a big, strange and wonderful place.

'Dolines' are concave indents into a limestone plateau. The indent comes from the chain reaction of a collapsed cavern deep underground. Fine sediments congregate and they can be more fertile that surrounding thin soils, apt for animal pens or croft agriculture. The above is known as a lavogne and is a concave disc from the greater theme of stone walls. Were the first lavogne tweaked dolines? Normally the above disc should be full of water for herds of the sheep and goats that go on to make the cheeses so well known on the Larzac. This year there were three heatwaves. This example still had a disc for reflection; others were dry. Lavogne are relatively easy to see in areas such as the Larzac, Causse Méjean, Causse Noire... Normally an 'abreuvoir' (water trough) is fed by a spring or hand pulled from a well. Here the lavogne is vast and open air. Some lavogne key into a surface junction between rock layers and these are not circular and may be precursors for a second method of conserving water on a limestone plateau, the 'toit-citerne'. The example of open-air asymmetrical lavogne in Saint-André-de-Vézines is thought to be one of the oldest examples and couples as a lavoire. I would hazard against dating just such structures and expect a deep history and indeed prehistory of local needs and superpositions.
