This slender vertical element is the result of the superposition of two columns: the lower one has a more robust appearance as it is less tall and thicker. Both have Doric capital and smooth shaft.

As a whole it was already located next to the Capelleta de Sant Roc

At present, it shows as a finishing element a large medallion made of iron with the shield of the population.

Just the tip of a good size piece of amethyst I received some years ago gives my entry today for

Macro Mondays: layer

I found myself curious enough to research this beautiful purple stone:

'The crystal structure of amethyst differs from that of other quartzes. It consists of an irregular superposition of alternate lamellae (layers) of right-handed and left-handed quartz.'

also:

'Amethyst is a violet/purple variety of quartz often used as an ornamental stone.

The name comes from the Greek words a (not) and methuskein ("to intoxicate"), referring to the belief that this gemstone protected its owner from drunkenness.'

Well that's OK then - but I am practically teetotal now............

The pavilion is made up of a superposition of four large white trays, all slightly offset. It is an original building with light architecture. Access to the building is via a ramp. On the ground floor there is a public restaurant and a reception hall. On the first floor there are shops. The second and third floors are occupied by the organizers of the America's Cup and the official sponsors of the competition, mainly Louis Vuitton. In addition, the belvedere of the building offers an exceptional panorama of the port and the sea, which is difficult to see when you are on the quays of the port since the port is not a tourist site. There is also a garden around the main building.

Here's a link to Grace VanderWaal, stuck at home, barely learning before posting a new cover..."Superposition" by Daniel Caesar... so she starts slow but wait for it,,,my oh my. She introduces some of her originals "off the cuff" this way to her fans before "painting" them in the studio and we love it!

Thanks for posting the video Sam Borgman,

These kind of images are kind of like scrap-booking I think.

Europe, Greece, Peleponnesos, Argolida, Tiryns, Tholos (slightly cut)

Back to the Mycenaean travelogue. Shown here is the interior (the 'thalamos') of a tholos (beehive grave) near Tiriys, one of the Bronze age Mycenean strongholds of Argolida. The burial structure is characterized by a false dome created by corbelling - the superposition of successively smaller rings of stones. The resulting structure resembles a beehive. For this tholos rubble masonry was employed - a construction in which rubble is used as building material] composed of hard limestone from the fields. It signifies that it belongs to the early- Mycean tombs (Mycean tombs were constructed from 1525 to 1300/1275 BC).

In this travelogue is a lot of information about the Mycenean architecture and archaeological history (the Schliemann saga), but not so much about its culture and place in the history of the Bronze age. That’s because much of this is still unknown – from the nature of the relationship between the palace-cities and the hinterland to the reason the Mycenean civilization eventually vanished. This happened during The late Bronze Age Collapse. At this time many civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean collapsed. What is known is that it had to do with a combination of climate change (endogenic, not exogenic like we’re experiencing now) and other natural disasters. And of course the 'Sea peoples' - invasive tribes that raided and sacked like early day Vikings. The position of Myceneans in this, however, is unclear. According to some historians the Myceneans suffered from the Sea peoples, according to others they were one of the tribes constituting them.

By the way: I am lowering my posting speed. Posting every day or every other day for a while was fun, but it consumed a bit too much of my time.

In playing with making simple superpositions in photoshop, it's been amazing to discover how so many of my images echo the form of this particular spiderweb that was laid over them. Art really does imitate nature.

........................

It is a walkable installation in silkscreen made up of 50 sheets of glass. Two graphic-pictorial images coexist: on one side, a column and on the other a human figure from behind with outstretched arms. The superposition determines perceptual games that change the view of the viewer.

this is a superposition of two images that were created on film and then merged together in photoshop to create a double exposure. I love the fact that photography is so wide open, anything is possible. the only limits are the ones we impose on ourselves.

cette image est une superposition crée avec deux images sur pellicules qui ont été superposées dans photoshop. j'adore le fait que la photo est sans limites, vraiment. tout est possible. les seules limites, en fait, sont celles que nous nous imposons.

The title is a superposition of dystopia, Texas, and dyslexia. It's modeled on the red, white & blue bars of the Texas state flag, with a goat skull from the rear in place of the Lone Star. In this case dyslexia is cultural rather than inherited. Second in the series on American democracy.

A very belated Birthday Image for my good friend and co-founder of "PANO-Vision", Paul Ewing.

I've blended my usual big city architectural pano-sabotage imagery with a few subtle nods to Paul and his work here. I've noted, frequently, the deep blue of his Arizona skies and he fantastic light that the State seems to have. And off to the right is a shot of my own lengthy shadow, a motif which occurs a lot in Paul's magnificent work. There's something very Joseph Beuys about that shadow, particularly in Paul's work because of his wearing a hat, which is one of Beuys' signature markers.

Included in the image is a quote form Quantum Physicist, David Bohm, from his book, "Wholeness and the Implicate Order". Paul and I have had many a lengthy discussion of how Pano-Sabotage seems to reflect several quantum concepts which question the singular, dictatorial authority of Classical Mechanical Theory and the resultant dangerous mess that such has wrought on the world.

Two Pano-Sabotage pieces next to each other and 4 SOOC shots layered in, looping lines for unification and a text enhancement.
