It's the Sicilian Honey Garlic again! They are so photogenic. They are like the supermodels of flowers. I've bought another 50 bulbs, given about 30 away, and will plant the rest in the garden this weekend. Apologies in advance for many more photos of exactly the same thing next summer :)

Sandie LeThin was Paris’s most skeletal supermodel—so slim she could slip through a mail slot without disrupting the post. Her cheekbones could cut cheese, and her waist was so cinched it made wasps jealous.
Her signature look? A dramatic black beret, worn jauntily atop her platinum-blonde head. Unfortunately, Sandie’s head had shrunk so much from her celery-stick diet that the beret no longer fit—it just sloshed around like a hat on a broomstick.
It was the night of the Haute Ha-Ha fashion show, an avant-garde event that blended couture with comedy. Sandie, of course, was booked as the grand finale. She was to emerge in an outfit made entirely of satin ribbons, feathers, and existential ennui.
As she stepped onto the catwalk, disaster struck.
The beret—once perched with precision—slid down over her forehead, then her eyes, then her nose… until it enveloped her entire face like a sleepy mushroom. The audience gasped. Sandie marched on, blind as a bat with attitude, one heel click from disaster.
She kept strutting, arms flailing like a confused flamingo.
To make matters worse, the delicate ribbon ensemble she wore had been fastened with nothing but double-sided tape and blind hope. As the lights hit her and the beret muffled her balance, the satin strips betrayed her—fluttering to the floor like defeated spaghetti.
By the time she reached the end of the catwalk, Sandie was wearing nothing but stilettos and a beret that made her look like a walking loofah. The front row, unsure if this was fashion or farce, burst into polite applause.
Karl von Dräma, the designer, whispered, “Genius. Accidental nudity is so now.”
Backstage, Sandie finally yanked the beret off her head. “Did I win?” she asked, blinking in confusion.
“You won fashion,” someone said, handing her a croissant and a robe.
From that day on, Sandie’s beret was stitched to her head with fishing wire, and she was known in the industry as The Invisible Model—not for her looks, but for her talent at vanishing right out of her outfits.
The show? A roaring success.

I bought a new shirt in Genoa.
Those of you who know me well will realise what a rare occurrence this is. Paola has to wage a months-long battle to convince me to buy something new, and once she has, it immediately becomes my favourite thing and I wear it to death.
She's currently trying to persuade me that I need a new pair of shoes (what for? I already have one...)
i spent most of my adolescence in the 90s and i loved the supermodels as a teenager. i used to watch that canadian show that featured fashion and i was also glued to style with elsa klench. my favorite supermodels were christy turlington, carla bruni and helena christiansen. they don't make supermodels like they used to.
