Blue Waters will take up only about half of the data center in the facility. The remained will be used to consolidate NCSA's systems from another building on campus along w/ hosting some other Government systems including some systems supporting research happening in Alaska as part of a Arctic project.

An Anodyne Systems supercomputer monitors and manages all electrical, life-support, communications and defence systems on the outpost. Designated operators have the option to manually override any of these modules when necessary. During emergencies, the system allows for another operator so that two distinct modules may be manually controlled.

le lines shows the average (sort of) progression over a period.

300 times faster over 20 years (=17 times over 10 years), then 100 times faster over 10 years and now 1000 times faster over 10 years.

Through years of steady investment and research, high performance computing in Europe has started paying returns to many parts of the economy - aerospace, pharmaceuticals, energy, automotive, the environment and climate research. But the best could be yet to come, as computing powers worldwide jump upwards and HPC becomes an essential tool for competitiveness across the European economy. In short, supercomputers will be for all, no longer a few.
