Narikala Fortress is an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The fortress dates back to the 4th century, when it was originally built as a Persian citadel. Over the centuries, it was expanded and fortified by various rulers, including the Arabs, Mongols, and Georgians, reflecting the region’s complex history. The fortress is perched on a steep hill and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi, including the Kura River and the Old Town. Although part of the walls and towers were destroyed by an earthquake in 1827, they remain a powerful symbol of the city’s ancient past. Visitors can explore the historic walls and enjoy the tranquility that contrasts with the bustling city below. In addition to its historical significance, Narikala is also a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims. At the foot of the fortress lies the Church of St. Nicholas, a modern reconstruction of a medieval church that originally stood within the fortress walls. The walk to the fortress is an adventure in itself, rewarding visitors with impressive views and a deeper connection to Tbilisi’s rich history. In the evening, when the city lights up, Narikala offers a magical view of the illuminated streets and monuments of the Georgian capital.
Narikala Fortress, perched high above Tbilisi, offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding hills. This ancient stronghold, dating back to the 4th century, symbolizes Tbilisi's long and complex history. From the fortress's old towers, you can also enjoy a stunning view of the Tabor Monastery, which stands majestically on a nearby hill. The combination of the historic fortress and the serene monastery in the background creates a striking panorama, where history and spirituality intertwine. This makes Narikala a popular destination for both tourists and pilgrims alike. Photo of young people gather at Narikala's ancient towers.

The view over Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal from Swayambhunath (or Monkey Temple!). Swayambhunath is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu city. It is worth a visit if only for the amusing monkeys that use the site as their home...

Sunset at Black Canyon
It Is Often Said That a Person Only Lives a Life Once
But I like to think that you live a life every day and die only once
One has to say goodbye to a sun in order to see the sun rising the next day
Live today
Reflect on past memories
And savor the sunrise in the morning.
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one late afternoon in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park while taking in a sunset at Sunset View. This is a view looking to the northwest upstream as the Gunnison River flow by. Having finished a hike earlier that afternoon, I spent quite a bit of time getting the right composition with the view looking up the canyon and using an ephemeris app to note the location of the sun by azimuth. The rest of the time, I spent metering the setting such that I would minimize blowing any highlights while still being able to pull the more shadowed areas later on in post production. Other than removing some artifacts caused by the sun flare across the lens with PhotoShop, I worked mainly with control points in DxO PhotoLab 3 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

The Dead Sea at sunset as revealed, in all its glory, from the top of the cliff in Kibbutz Ein Gedi: Israel. Landscape. Dead Sea. Desert. Sun. Sunset. Clouds. Sky. Southern Israel.

A pano consisting of 12 portrait oriented images. The reds were so dominate that i desaturated them a tad and a bit of burning in the foreground to balance out.
There was a arch cloud on the left from the Ruahine ranges with a storm system on the right hand side catching the sunset colours.
