Bombay Beach is located near the Salton Sea, deep within the California desert. The shore is ‘littered’ with “art”. Some may call it junk, but most think of it as art. Besides the ‘junk’, there are actual art pieces created just for Bombay Beach like the you see in this image, just a few of many. Depending on the calmness of the water, these objects are reflected and creatie an optical illusion.

Located just east of the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, Bombay Beach is one of the lowest communities in the United States, located 223 feet below sea level, slightly above Death Valley, also located in California.

It was once a popular getaway for beachgoers until the 1980s, when the draining and increasing salinity of the Salton Sea destroyed the lake's ecosystem and drove businesses and private landowners out of the area, rendering Bombay Beach a ghost town. Despite this, by 2018, a number of people had moved into the area, and the town's many abandoned structures and features from its past have drawn visitors back in. A recent article in one of the magazines, stated that it was "enjoying a rebirth of sorts with an influx of artists, intellectuals and hipsters who have turned it into a bohemian playground."

Everything in the desert is exaggerated, even the sunset. It is a place for photographers who like things that are out of the ordinary, and Bombay Beach has plenty to offer. These you see here are only two of the hundreds of art installations in the area.

Bombay Beach's decline began around the 1970s, when the runoff (which was full of salty chemicals) led to a warning that the salinity of the lake would no longer sustain wildlife; that occurred by the early 1980s. Many residents around the Salton Sea, including those in Bombay Beach, eventually moved out due to the odor of the dying fish, the fear of health problems, and both the flooding and the draining of the Salton Sea. Many of the remaining residents are reportedly either too poor to move out or too attached to the history of the area to leave. It was reported in September 2019 that ten years earlier, "there were some 100 million fish in the Sea. Now, more than 97 percent of those fish are gone. The skeletons of the dead fish form the seashore. It is quite a unique place, a relic of the past.

I have visited Bombay Beach once before, but only in the day time. Last night, I drove from San Diego (a three hour drive) and met up with a friend who is a very frequent visitor to BB. I shot the sunset as well as the Milky Way. It was a very hot (104) and humid evening but such a unique place. One has to visit there to appreciate it. And all the art installations, not just on the beach but around 'town' are truly worth seeing...such imaginative and creative pieces. Those of us who live in SoCal, should make it a point of visiting at least once in their life time. Yes, the odor hits you when you first approach, the smell of sulphur and other minerals, but the beauty and uniqueness of the place takes over and you forget the smell...at least I did!

Last day of filming on set...and as I headed back home from a wild opportunity, Oregon provided me with an epic shot.

夕陽低垂,芒草隨風搖曳,城市的輪廓在金光中朦朧閃現,彷彿一首無聲的夏日詩。 The sun dips low, reeds sway gently in the breeze, and the city skyline blurs into golden haze—like a silent summer poem.

There’s something undeniably magical about the City Palace at golden hour. As the sunlight dances across the marble and mirrors, Udaipur unveils its royal secrets—where history and modern energy converge seamlessly. 🌅✨

These twilight moments don’t just capture architecture; they immortalize the soul of Rajasthan, and the spirit of timeless adventure. 🏰💫

Have you ever wondered how centuries-old grandeur effortlessly merges with the vibrant pulse of today’s Udaipur? Let the warm hues and dramatic silhouettes transport you. Which view of the City Palace speaks to your heart—the regal façades bathed in sunset glow or the glittering palace under the twilight sky? 🌇

Share your thoughts and tell me which perspective makes you fall in love with Udaipur all over again! 💖✨”

Sunset over the ocean; cloud formations from wildfires

🌅 Sunsets at Ambleside Beach are pure West Coast magic — where the sky turns into a canvas of fiery oranges, soft purples, and shimmering golds as the sun dips behind the mountains and ocean.

✨ Why It’s a Sunset Hotspot

- Unobstructed Views: The beach faces west across Burrard Inlet, offering clear sightlines to the horizon — perfect for catching every last ray.

- Pier Vibes: The Ambleside Pier adds a romantic touch, with reflections dancing on the water and silhouettes of people soaking in the moment.

- Peaceful Atmosphere: Whether you're lounging on the sand or strolling the seawall, the calm setting makes it ideal for unwinding after a long day.

- Wildlife Cameos: Harbor seals and seabirds often make appearances, adding a splash of nature to the evening show.

Sunset Tips

- Best Time: Arrive about 30 minutes before sunset to grab a good spot and watch the colors evolve.

- Bring a Blanket: It can get breezy — cozy up and stay a while.

- Camera Ready: The changing light is perfect for photography, especially with the Lions Gate Bridge in the distance.

Ambleside sunsets are the kind that linger in your memory.

Framed by Nature: Mirror of the Divine

When still waters become heaven's mirror and reality splits into perfect symmetry. A stand of bare trees silhouetted against an explosive sunset sky—their reflections so crisp and flawless that earth and heaven become one breathtaking canvas. Golden hour light blazes through the branches, painting both sky and water in fierce oranges, deep purples, and molten gold. This is nature at its most symphonic, where every element conspires to create a single moment of transcendent beauty.

took this quick shot while doing a mini hike. Totally worth the risk of stopping beside a concrete road with many cars passing by. wanna do it again for a different angle. ;)

At sunset in Jeju, the sun settles neatly between the lines of steel.

Below, the faint silhouette of a city quietly holds its breath —

a moment between structure and story, precision and presence.

sunsets are proofs that endings can be beautiful too.

When I imagined this place, I dreamed of a view like this. A little golden hour glow, a gentle breeze, and a glass of something bubbly waiting inside.

Still building, still dreaming — but this moment? It’s everything. 💕
