Opportunity shot, waiting for my bus: very lucky on this one, I targeted him and wait... and wait.... and finally, this gentle gull decided to take off... I pushed fiercely the trigger of my -bad for action shot - little bridge, then immediately went to see the result on the viewer.... which gave me a big smile!
The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen on Mono Lake. The colours were amazing. So vivid and changing all the time. This was the last of the reds as the sun disappeared.
The lake has no sea outlet. Dissolved salts in the runoff remains in the lake and raise the water's pH levels and salt concentration. Tufa columns (limestone) are formed and are part of the interesting landscape of Mono Lake

Another murmuration (or black sun) of Starlings, this time not near Kinderdijk but somewhere in Gelderland (an eastern province of Holland).
Here, the Starlings flew much higher and with a dramatic sunset to match I was able to use a wideangle.
