Sunset from our north facing front porch.
Thanks to all those who are adding this to their favourites. Much appreciated.
Sunset at lake Thingvallavatn.
A vertorama like the last two shots. A stack of two horizontal shots.
I like playing with the unconventional.
And if I succeed you'll notice it ;-)
Norddeich in Ostfriesland. Ein schöner Sonnenuntergang bot sich heute. Viele Leute standen schlange mit ihrer Kamera um den besten Spot zu erwischen.
I did not think there was going to be any clouds for a sunset last night as there were no clouds visible from our place. I was out running errands and could see that there were some pretty clouds above the horizon. So went back home and got my camera/tripod and hurried to the closest ocean location and made it in time. Wow, it was so pretty to watch and I was glad I made it in time.
Really enjoying my photography so far in 2012. Had a fantastic afternoon at the Dorset Coast yesterday snapping the Durdle Door. Those shots coming soon, but back to Weston for this image taken at the bay area at sunset (and yes, those birds were actually there).
Go on, F A C E B O O K me.
This shot was taken the same night as another photo in my photostream titled Dragon's Breath Sunset. This photo is the earlier of the two and is lighter and brighter than Dragon's Breath which gives it more contrast and punch. I especially like the lighting on the weird little cloud in the lower left. It almost looks like a Flash Gordon type space ship streaking across the sky.
After spending an afternoon exploring the Kafue and Limpopo rivers in small boats, we were treated to another gorgeous sunset as we headed back to the lodge.
Taken the same day as yesterday's post of the Goliath Heron.
Happy Sunset Sunday. HSS!
Took a trip down memory lane today through my photos from 2011 through to first half of 2012, taken with my trusty Nikon CoolPixL120, the first quality camera I ever bought, basically a bridge between a point and shoot and a DSLR, and the camera that first got me seriously into photography.
I took about 70,000 photos in the year and a bit I used this camera for before I purchased my 60D, and I really pushed it to its limits and got some amazing shots with it!
This shot is from a set I took in early January 2012, from atop Capitol Hill (site of the historic University of Calgary campus here in Calgary), overlooking central and western Calgary; it was a gorgeous Chinook-y winter evening, so there was a nice warm temperature and an incredible, intense sunset!
I think some of the shots I took with my Coolpix equal in quality and composition some of my best shots with the 60D, which proves it is not so much the equipment as it is having the eye to see the shots and being in the right place at the right time!
I would love to know what you guys think about this shot of mine, which is almost 2 years old now!
Cheers, my friends, and I hope you are all off to a great start on this upcoming week!
Sunset Splash
I posted another shot from this particular evening not too long ago but I think I like the water motion more in this one. The winter swell is starting to come back and I noticed the waves splashing up on the lava rock so I wanted to isolate that in the foreground.
Sunset at Loh Paret Beach, Koh Yaoyai, Phang-Nga, Thailand in front of Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa
The Sunset Tree. Once again my favorite tree provided the perfect silhouette to lay over the colorful sunset. Enjoy!

Every Sunday is Sunset Sunday on my Photostream. I invite you to join in on the fun and post your own sunset (or sunrise) on Sunday and then share it with us here. Sunset Sundays are the only days I invite you to share your own photo in your comments here. Please keep it to only one and one that you've posted this Sunset Sunday.
Now let's get out there and get some beautiful sunset/sunrise shots and share them every Sunday.
OBTW, this will be my very last Sunset Sunday post, and maybe my very last flickr post
. . . . . . . this year. So have a very happy and safe New Year celebration and above all, please don't drink and drive. The life you save, may be mine. HAPPY NEW YEAR and I'll see you in 2013.
