"Someone" keeps forgetting to buy sunblock, so the last few incredibly sunny and amazing days have been spent outdoors on the lawn reading while hidden under some old 70's scarves...
I love how I yesterday realised that the crime story I'd bought second hand exactly for the purpose of reading it on the lawn over the weekend, proved to be set on Iceland in Christmas... ;) Very seasonal. However, that didn't stop me from staying up till midnight to finish the book!
June, July and August is the hottest months in Malaysia. Dress accordingly, use sunblock, drink lots of water.

The island had change a bit from my last visit. There are more establishements, more activies to do, and more tourists are indulged to this small pleasure island. Pristine water and friendly locals are my best experience. My wife and I promise to our daughter that we will be back soon but told her that we need to start saving on her piggy bank so that we can go back sooner. She nodded. :)

A beautiful, remote and culturally rich country infamous for its military regime, Myanmar (Burma) has in recent years been making small steps towards democracy, with the first democratically elected government in 2015, after more than half a century.
Modern conveniences, such as mobile-phone coverage and internet access, are now common, however for all the recent changes, Myanmar remains at heart a rural nation of traditional values - though one may have hard time to find someone among the younger generation without a smartphone or Facebook profile.
One will still encounter men wearing the sarong-like longyi and chewing betel nut, spitting the blood-red juice onto the ground, women with faces smothered in thanakha (a natural sunblock), and cheroot-smoking grannies. Trishaws still ply city streets, while the horse or bullock and cart is common rural transport.

We carefully planned our 3-weeks long Burmese adventure around 6-days long hiking trip in the remote Chin state, where we commenced our journey in the hilltop settlement of Mindat, and subsequently hiked for four days across ethnic minority villages using old footpaths and mule trails.
Besides that, Bagan was the obvious spot to spend a few days exploring its temples, and we also spent a few days more in the south around Hpa-An. Then, finally, Ngapali was the ultimate destination for our beach leisure time.
Preparing for the 10th scene, note the +95 sunblock on Oscar. Marcus is as cool as ever. Anders is ready to go.

i've had that beach towel for three summers and havent washed it once. it smells like sunblock and fun times.
This girl is using the local sun-block to protect her face. Common in Madagascar and very similar to that seen in Myanmar and elsewhere in Asia.
This tree lost all its leaves only in about two days. I was astonished the speed at which nature works:)..even the stock market didn't crash this fast...or did it?
