It's not summer in my part of the world, but mid-winter sunshine, palm trees and a glass of wine spell "holiday" to me!
This picture was taken at Merewether Beach, NSW. I really love this picture as for me it gives it a memorable summer vacation feeling with a father and son heading out to surf together. Even though in Australia we are actually in the middle of winter.

If you´re looking for a quiet and modern hotel with a spectacular infinity-pool in a beautiful city with good weather guarantee - well, look somewhere else!
Seriously, as school holidays are still 4 weeks ahead, I spent a short weekend in Kassel and "dokumenta 14" (google if you like...).
The diving board on top of the old hotel is a statement and piece of art titled "ARSCHBOMBE" (translates: cannonball (?)) by Ralph Raabe from 2002.

It’s peak of summer and, in the United States, we’re heading into a long holiday weekend. That means bust out the pool floaties, grab the beach towel, pack your travel guide, or load into the car for a road trip. It’s summer vacation time! This week, for the Flickr Friday Group challenge, we want to see amazing shots of your #SummerVacations.
Remember the photograph has to be taken this week. If you don’t plan on going on vacay this week then get creative and stage something beautiful or amusing. Take a day trip. Photograph your stay-cation. Be sure to use the tag #SummerVacations and add your photo to the Flickr Friday Group Pool by Thursday afternoon next week.

entertaining the summer crowds in York (the band were playing Robbie Williams' 'Angel' when I took this photograph, the crowd were singing along.... it seemed both bizarrely silly and rather quite moving all at the same time.....)
Summer Sunset.
Sunsets in Nanjing are very rare.
The Little Prince loved sunsets......
Especially when he was sad.

Bei uns stehen die Ferien noch vor der Tür, aber die Planung ist ebenso erfreulich!
Hard to believe a lake this beautiful is unnamed. We found a couple of remains of what we think were horses nearby, so we decided to name it dead horse lake.
“Nothing is impossible. With the right attitude, you can do anything you want. It's all about choosing to be positive instead of being negative about things. Like I can look at "not working" as being "no one's hiring me and no one will give me a job." Or I can look at "not working" as being "a fantastic vacation."
