When the light reaches the throat of the Brazilian Ruby Hummingbird (male), the green feathers change to golden or to ruby depending on the angle you are looking and the angle the of the light itself.
In these two photos you can see part of the transformation: golden in the first photo and light ruby (something more similar to orange) in the second photo. But I assure to you that the throat really changes to vibrant ruby tone depending of the light and movement of the bird too.
7 fun facts about hummingbirds
1- The indigenous gave very suggestive names to the hummingbirds, which perfectly described these charming birds:
For the "Caraíbas indians", they were the “colibris”, which means “resplendent area”.
The "Tupis" called them “guainumbis”, that is, “sparkling birds”.
For the "Guarani indians", on the other hand, hummingbirds were the “mainumbis”, that is, “those who enchant, next to the flower, with its light and splendor”.
2- Its huge heart, which represents 19 to 22% of the total body weight, facilitates the rapid circulation of blood.
3- In a single day, they are able to ingest nutritious substances up to 8 times their body weight.
4- Some hummingbirds develop average speeds ranging from 30 to 70 km per hour and the vibration of the wings can reach 50 to 70 beats per second.
5- They are the only birds that can literally stand still in the air, take off and land vertically, and even reverse in mid-flight.
6- The spectacular color of hummingbirds originates from the phenomenon of refraction of light, through the microstructure of the feathers. The color changes, observed in the same bird, vary according to the angle of incidence of sunlight or the movement of the body.
7- They say that Igor Sirkorski, who invented the helicopter, based his ideas on the continuous observation of the flight of hummingbirds. However, the helicopter cannot fly upside down. Hummingbirds can.

Die Kirche St. Stephanus im heutigen Meerbusch, Ortsteil Lank wurde erstmals im Jahre 1202 erwähnt. Nach mehrfachen An-und Umbauten sowie Zerstörung durch hessische Truppen 1642 enstand schliesslich die heutige dreischiffige Basilika 1841-1842. Vom ursprünglichen Kirchenbau erhalten geblieben ist der im Bild dargestellte romanische Turm, dessen Bausubstanz gut von der im 19. Jahrhundert üblichen Backsteinbauweise zu unterscheiden ist.
The church St. Stephanus in the town Lank, today a part of Meerbusch was 1202 first mentioned. After several extensions of the former architecture and destruction by hessian troops due to war incidents a three-aisle basilica was erected 1841-1842. From the original building just the romanic tower remained. As it is seen in this picture, the architectonic substance is different from the later in the 19th century used brick building.

My little friend here climbed up the rod and go on the little platform for the bird seed cones. They must be put together with a syrupy substance that is okay for birds and other wildlife to eat. The seeds managed to get all over the outside of his wee mouth LOL

A fledgling hummingbird waiting to be fed by mom at the Sonora Desert Museum. I was surprised to see mother hummers fed their fledglings with regurgitated food, just like penguins and cormorants do.
A mother hummingbird will drink nectar and eat bugs and then regurgitate a slurry substance the baby hummingbirds can digest. She will feed this mixture to the baby hummingbirds approximately every twenty minutes. A baby hummingbird needs the mother hummingbird to feed them. Baby hummingbirds can not drink hummingbird nectar like adults do because there is not enough protein in the regular hummingbird nectar. The mother hummingbirds will still feed their fledging for two to three days after leaving the nest. During this time, she will show them all the good places to catch bugs and get nectar. Then she will chase them off to live on their own.

I love the creative spontaneity of working with models in outdoor settings. I used to adopt a much more structured approach to these sessions. That's great insofar as I had a good concept. But more often than not I could not fully realize the look I had preconceived and my takeaway was some level of disappointment. I've gone more free-style lately. Things feel much more natural and less forced. I'm much more focused on including the model in the creative process rather than regarding her as simply a subject. The synergy of two minds leads to results simply not attainable by mine alone.
Late in a session with Carol near a drab soybean field, I happened to notice the field was suddenly aglow in the long rays of the autumn sun. The completely parched and featureless soy plants that had greeted our arrival here were now alive with warmth and brimming with light and shadow. I had Carol enter the frame, standing between me and the sun like a human eclipse. Instantly her physical form morphed into her shadow. The effect was an eerie silhouette cutout. I shared my review screen with her so she could understand my excitement over this eerie vision. She moved back into position and twirled about gracefully. The shutter clicked and this image was born.
