We finally did it guys! We finally hit 1,000 subscribers on YouTube! This has been the thing we were aiming for since we started YouTube! It feels so great to have come so far. 2. No discrimination whatsoever - Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
Unlike last year, we will not be following the X Factor style to increase tension. We genuinely like the idea and would do it, but it takes hours more time to do. Instead, come the results video we will narrow it down to 5 films and pick 2 winners from there.

Plaque acknowledging amalgamation of Port Adelaide & Alberton Primary Schools Jan 2005.

Port Adelaide Grammar School opened 1862 with Rev Frank Garrett as master, closed 1868, re-opened by Allen Martin 1870. It was one of several private schools in area taken over 1876 by the government. Then named Port Adelaide Public School, later renamed Port Adelaide Primary School, closed Dec 2004. The Alberton school opened 1892 to relieve crowding in the Port district. And so the Wheel of Fortune turns. . . these 2 schools amalgamated Jan 2005. There were several private schools in Port Adelaide in 1860s; Mr Leslie’s was one (see below).
“Port Adelaide Grammar School. . . may now be considered established. . . the sum of £350 having been guaranteed for three years, they should commence operations. A Committee, consisting of Messrs. Hart, Gliddon, Marryat, Duncan, and Dempster, was appointed to write home at once respecting a master. . . to be a graduate of one of the English Universities, and in holy orders. At the same time the following regulations were agreed to for his general guidance:— That he is not to hold a cure of souls; but may engage in such occasional ministerial work as will not interfere with his scholastic engagements. The school hours, holidays, &c, to be the same as those of St. Peters College.” [Register 25 Mar 1862]
“Port Adelaide Grammar School.— The Rev. Frank Garrett, M.A., Worcester College, Oxford, who was selected by the London Committee as Head Master of this school, arrived on the 19th instant, by the Venilia. . . The subscribers have secured a house at Queenstown as a residence, and have obtained the temporary use of rooms at Port Adelaide until a schoolroom is built. It is expected that the school will open on Monday, the 2nd February, with about 30 scholars, the children of the subscribers.” [Register 27 Jan 1863]

“The Rev. Frank Garratt, M.A., Incumbent of All Saint's Church, Hindmarsh, and head master of the Port Adelaide Grammar School, who left the colony for England in the Darra, in the hope of improving his health, prior to leaving was presented with an address and purse containing more than £80.” [Express & Telegraph 4 Jan 1869]

Alberton Primary School
“Owing to the overcrowded condition of the Port Adelaide and Lefevre's Peninsula public schools the Government were compelled a few months ago to provide additional accommodation and money was voted for a building in the Alberton district. . . The contractors for the Alberton school, Messrs. Mattinson & Cleave, are making good progress with their work. The contract time will be up next month, but as the ground had to be raised 3 ft. extra precautions had to be taken with the foundations on account of the treacherous nature of the soil, and difficulty was experienced in obtaining freestone the contractors will exceed their time by a few weeks. The building is of brick with freestone dressings. The inside will be colored and divided into seven classrooms. The roof of the building is now on, and the carpenters are working at the inside fixtures. Part of the ground will be asphalted and the rest will be covered with ashes. The school is situated at Long-street, Queenstown, and when completed will accommodate 500 children.” [Advertiser 23 Jun 1892]

“Two new schools were authorized to be built, and one at Alberton was opened for the admission of scholars on Monday. The morning was a busy one for the teachers, and the work of getting the children into order occupied the greater part of the forenoon. When the scholars were classified the roll was taken, with the following result:— Infants, 50; 1st Class, 80; 2nd Class, 64; 3rd Class, 40; 4th Class, 42; 5th Class, 27; total, 303. About one-third of this number came from private schools in the district, while the others were drawn from tho Port and Woodville Public Schools.” [Register4 Oct 1892]

Leslie Schoolroom
Built 1856 on (the now) Port Rd, Queenstown by William Wood Leslie, who ran the school until he retired 1880. Used 1860s by Baptist & Church of England until their own churches built and for various meetings in district.

“The Chief Inspector handed in his report of schools visited. . . “A meeting of the residents of Alberton and Queenstown was held on Thursday evening, at Leslie's schoolroom, Queenstown, to take into consideration the expediency of petitioning Parliament now assembled to erect forthwith a Lock-up, and also to appoint four policemen to protect the properties and persons of the inhabitants in that district.” [Register 8 Aug 1857]
“Northern Star Tent — On Good Friday the Members of this Order will attend Divine Service in the Congregational Chapel, Port. . . a sumptuous repast will be served in Mr. Leslie's School room, Queenstown ; and at a quarter past 7 a Public Meeting will be held.” [Register 1 Apr 1858]

“The pupils attending the Alberton and Queenstown Commercial School were publicly examined. . . the attendance has not been so regular as could be desired. . . The school has been open 239 days during the year; 130 pupils have been in attendance, of whom 75 are now on the books. . . prizes were distributed by the Chairman at the conclusion of the proceedings. “A lengthy communication was received from W. W. Leslie. With reference to the discontinuance of Mr. Leslie's licence, he mentioned for the consideration of the Board— That soon after the commencement of his school in 1855, he found it necessary to draft off the younger children into a room built for the purpose at considerable expense to himself. The room had been worn out in the service, and replaced by another room and gallery at a further cost. Without such an auxiliary it was impossible to convey that amount of instruction and learning to the number of children they had that the children are capable of receiving. He had long previous to the proclamation of a District Council in the neighbourhood, and in the absence of any local organization for the promotion of education there expended m the erection of schoolrooms more money than was usually expended by a District Council and the Board jointly. He also gave other reasons for the continuance of the licence. Tho Board wore aware of the satisfactory way in which the school had been conducted, and expressed their regret at having to reduce the number of licences in Queenstown.” [Register 22 Feb 1870]
“Queenstown Commercial School. At the annual examination on December 23 the schoolroom, though spacious and airy, presented a crowded appearance from the number of pupils and the large attendance of parents and friends. . . The examination was conducted by Mr. King in mental arithmetic, geography, astronomy, and the use of the globes; German, by Mr. Burgan; and English, &c, by the Chairman. The result showed that a good system is being wrought out, and that much care is bestowed by Mr. and Mrs. Leslie in training to habits of application and diligence. . . The Council are unanimously of opinion that necessity exists for re-opening the school, as the distance to the Woodville and Port Adelaide schools is too great for children residing in newly-formed intermediate townships in the summer, and the roads utterly unfit for young children to walk over in the winter. . . a report from the Inspector General of Schools, to the effect that there is ample accommodation for additional children at the Port Adelaide School. “LESLIE.— [Died] On the 18th September, at his residence, High street, Queenstown, William Wood Leslie (late schoolmaster), beloved husband of Emma Leslie, aged 91 years.” [Register 20 Sep 1915]
“Mr. William Wood Leslie, an old and highly-respected resident of Port Adelaide. . . For 38 years he conducted a school at Alberton, and. several wellknown Portonians owe their earlier education to his teaching. . . When he relinquished teaching he began business in a general store which, he managed in connection with the Alberton post office. He was born in the Isle of Sanday (one of the Orkney Isles) and had resided in this State 63 years. His widow, five sons, and two daughters survive him.” [Port Adelaide News 24 Sep 1915]

A project for our Going Postal 2014 Subscribers for September. Dan drew this rabbit in his sketchbook. It was scanned and then printed onto multiple pieces of card stock which had been painted on with abstract washes of saturated color (with acrylic gouache). After printing our assistant cut them all out, and then Dan finished each one with painted white accents and shading with gray toned Copic markers.

CHITRAL:
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service creates problem for internet users at Chitral.
Besides it Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTCL) media also jammed for
weeks. AS a result hundred of internet
users and PTCL consumers faced great hardships. Reasons behind disconnecting of
Internet services is telling fault in NERA Linko repeater at Lawari top due to
snowfall. Last year its tower had damaged by snowfall and internet (DSL) remained disconnected for
more than 2 months. Causing not only for
consumers problems but also loss for department because of remittance of
utility monthly bills for that period. Its
solar repeater has been installed on the top of Lawari pass which is usually
interrupt by snowfall in winter season. Lawari top which is known as killer
mountain is the main hurdle in the way of Chitral and communication systems
always block due to heavy snowfall on Lawari top having the altitude of 10500
feet from sea level. DSL service was
disturbed since December 28 and Chitrali faced great hardships because of
closing of main road and no other sources of communication. This scribe
contacted Dr. Riaz Inayat Executive Vice President PTCL Islamabad office regarding failure of DSL service in Chitral
EVP Dr. Riaz took immediate action and directed his staff based at Temargara
and Chitral for restoring DSL service at Lawari top. A team was detailed for
this purposes under supervision of Mujahidullah Senior Engineer of PTCL.
They
hired local people from Ziarat and Ashriat having experiences of climbing by
feet on snow bound Lawari top they were supporting a technical person of NERA
who repaired tower at Lawari top and restored DSL and media service of PTCL. It
is worth to mention here that there is great potential of DSL consumers and hundreds
of people visiting Telephone Exchange Chitral for DSL connection but they frustrated
because of limited connection. Social
and political circle of Chitral appeal high ups of PTCL for installing Optical
Fiber link for DSL Broadband service at
Chitral to redress DSL issue at Chitral. According to a survey thousands of
people are desirous for getting DSL broadband connection if Optical Fiber was installed
at Chitral.

Blue Whale ‘Song of Death’ Says Warns World Of 2012 Catastrophe

A most interesting FSB report from the Russian Far Eastern Chukchi Peninsula circulating in the Kremlin today states that the tribal shamanic elders of the Siberian Yupik peoples have convened in their most holy of conclaves for the first time since the June, 30 1908 Tunguska explosion, which at over 1,000 times the power of the atomic bombs dropped by the US on Japan during World War II these Arctic peoples warned was a sign that our human race had placed itself upon a path of ‘total’ destruction by its placing the worship of science over that of nature for the first time in its modern history and thus failing to have learned the lessons of the ancients who suffered a similar fate when they too sought godhood.
Interesting to note about the Yupik shaman council warning of June, 1908 was that it was indeed followed by the July, 1908 Young Turk Revolution that began the demise of the Ottoman Empire, and then followed by the October, 1908 Bosnian Crisis which began when Bulgaria declared its independence and the Austria-Hungary Empire announced the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both of which events ‘lit the fuse’ for our World’s first ever Total Global Conflict called World War I that killed nearly 15 million.
Note: World War I saw the defeat of the German Empire with its signing of the disastrous Treaty of Versailles which plunged Germany into economic chaos and set the stage for World War II. Germany has also just announced it will make its final World War I reparations payment on October 3, 2010, ninety-one years after this conflict ended.
This latest Yupik shaman council warning is stating that our World is now in even more danger than in 1908 as humanity has failed to learn the lessons of over a century of war, which these Arctic peoples say is evidenced by the Blue Whale ‘Guardians of our Earth’ now singing the “Song of Death” as an ‘announcement’ to all human beings to prepare for the ending of all things.
To the Blue Whales ‘Song of Death’ the Yupik shamans are referring to, baffled Western Scientists are now also reporting that these largest animals our World has ever known have indeed begun to mysteriously change their ‘songs’, all over our Planet for the first time in recorded history, and in what John Calombokidis, a blue whale expert at the Cascadia Research Collective, notes is a “fascinating finding”.
But to what Western scientists are now noting to their puzzlingly alarm as to the changing of the Blue Whales song the World over, the Yupik shamans first noted during a 2002 meeting in Yanrakynnot, Russia when in examining the ‘strange portents’ occurring throughout the Arctic Regions of our Planet warned that only 10 years were left before the ‘Time of the Great Ending’ was upon us all again.
The importance of the Yupik shamans warning of 2012 being a ‘time of ending’ should not be taken likely either as it agrees with the ancient Mayan Calendar [photo 2nd left] which also puts a great Global portent on this 2012 year and new research now showing the linkage of these ancient Maya peoples of the Americas with the Yupik and other Arctic peoples through their shared Na-Dene language origins.
Though many Western scientists have long theorized that the peopling of the Americas was due to the Arctic peoples from Asia once crossing an ice bridged Bering Straight, Russian scientists, and the Arctic peoples themselves, have long stated the reverse is true and that after our World’s last ‘overturning’ the refugees for those humans who survived expanded outwards from the Americas to the rest of the World.
The 16th Century French seer Michel de Nostredame (Nostradamus) further eludes to this when in his book of predictions named The Prophecies (Century VI Quatrains 21) he predicts the uniting of the Arctic peoples in the ‘last days’ by his stating:
When those of the arctic pole are united together,
Great terror and fear in the East:
Newly elected, the great trembling supported,
Rhodes, Byzantium stained with Barbarian blood.
Also interesting to note is that though the governments of this World continue to deny the significance of 2012 their preparations for it continue, including the stocking of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (also known as the Doomsday Vault) on the Arctic Norwegian island of Spitsbergen to hold samples of all of our World’s seeds, and the American President Barack Obama recently stating that all of the US Military Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan will start returning home in 2011.
Even more interesting to note about all of these events is that changing of our World’s Blue Whales ‘song’ involves a shifting in their time frequency as predicted by the renowned University of Chicago and Princeton scientist Dr. José Argüelles, who in his 2002 book Time and the Technosphere devises and promotes a notion that he calls the “Law of Time”, in part framed by his interpretations of how Maya calendrical mathematics functioned.
In this notional framework Argüelles claims to have identified a “fundamental law” involving two timing frequencies: one he calls “mechanized time” with a “12:60 frequency”, and the other “natural [time] codified by the Maya [that is] understood to be the frequency 13:20”.
To Argüelles, “the irregular 12-month [Gregorian] calendar and artificial, mechanized 60-minute hour” is a construct that artificially regulates human affairs, and is out-of-step with the natural “synchronic order”. He proposes the universal abandonment of the Gregorian calendar and its replacement with Argüelles' thirteen-moon calendar, in order to “get the human race back on course” by the adoption of “[his] calendar of perfect harmony so the human race could straighten its mind out again.”
Also needing to be mentioned is that since the Blue Whales began singing their ‘Song of Death’ warning to humanity the numbers of crop circles relating to the Mayan Calendar have, likewise, been increasing throughout the World.
In the Sorcha Faal’s book “Battle Begins For Throne of This World: The Return of the Einherjar Warriors”, she points out that one of these Arctic peoples most ancient sayings is “We don’t believe. We fear.” A saying, perhaps, those wise enough to understand should adopt so as not to be lulled into the same kind of complacency that kept billions of human beings unprotected during our World’s last great ending.

‘I can’t see the light’: War fuels surging prices in Europe
MILAN (AP) — Edoardo Ronzoni inspects a construction site near Milan that he shut down in March as costs for materials skyrocketed. He can’t complete a half-built roundabout at an intersection known for fender-benders because asphalt, cast-iron pipes and concrete are too expensive — prices exacerbated by Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Public works projects in Italy are grinding to a halt just as the European Union is injecting 108 billion euros ($114 billion) in pandemic recovery money meant to launch a construction frenzy.
Ronzoni laments that his company has already lost its three busiest months and expects the worst is ahead: “We fear we won’t be able to work this year. We are closing all of our sites.”
The war has accelerated inflation across Europe and the world, with prices for energy, materials and food surging at rates not seen for decades. It’s causing sticker shock at the grocery store, gas pumps, electricity bills and construction sites.
Soaring oil and gas prices are the key driver of inflation in Europe, which is heavily reliant on Russian energy to generate electricity and power industry. Inflation is expected to hit nearly 7% this year in the 27-nation EU and is contributing to slowing growth forecasts.
Fishmongers and farmers are being forced to charge prices for their catch and crops that even they see as astronomical. High fuel prices threaten to paralyze ground transport of goods. Bread prices are soaring from Poland to Belgium. Protests over price hikes have erupted in places like Bulgaria. While governments have responded with tax cuts and other aid, they face limits in easing the impact of volatile energy markets.
Even the thrifty, with backyard hens, are wondering if the price of feed is worth the eggs they yield. Alina Czernik, a shop assistant in Warsaw, does the math, as she sees prices of grain for her hen go up 150%, to 200 zlotys ($45) per 100 kilograms (220 pounds).
It is spreading a sense of futility, especially for those with low incomes.
“I’ve been a positive person, but for now, I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Eva Fuchsova, a mother of three who lives in the town of Touskov in western Czech Republic.
“I have to tighten my belt. I buy fruits and vegetables so my kids have everything, but I don’t touch it,” she said.
Economists are calling it a perfect storm, striking as countries unleashed spending to spur an economic rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. Surging customer demand overwhelmed factories, ports and freight yards, with resulting shortages driving up prices.
Add to that: The war in Ukraine has blocked exports of raw materials like steel and minerals that kept western Europe humming, as well as commodities like grains and seed oil, accentuating global shortages.
Inflation is running especially hot in central and Eastern European countries nearest the battlefields of Ukraine. Prices in April rose 14.2% in the Czech Republic, 12.3% in Poland and 10.8% in Greece. They’re an eye-popping 61% in Turkey, which saw its currency lose 44% of its value against the dollar last year.
Shop workers from Warsaw to Istanbul say customers are cutting back, buying lower-priced items, giving up on niceties like fresh-cut flowers and items they can delay, like new clothes.
In the Turkish capital, butcher Bayram Koza said he has seen a 20% drop in sales after prices nearly doubled, largely due to the cost of feed. That is making livestock breeding unprofitable, and many farmers are selling and moving to the city, he said.
“Even in (the affluent district of) Cankyaya, people are no longer buying according to their needs, but according to what they can afford. Those who bought two kilos of ground beef are now buying a kilo at the most,” he said.
On the Greek island of Rhodes, fish restaurant owner Paris Parasos gets up at dawn to go out on fishing trips to keep costs down. But he has still had to raise prices at his restaurant in the island’s main town as cooking oil prices quadrupled. Plus, cooking gas and electricity bills are three times higher.
“I could lower the quality and use the oil more, but I refuse to do it. We want customers to return and expect the same quality,” Parasos said.
In Poland, bread prices are up 30%, sending shoppers to discount outlets. Bakers in Belgium are laying off workers, as prices for a loaf rise by 30 cents, to 2.70 euros ($2.85).
“I know bakers who work 13 or 14 hours a day to get out of this and honor their loans,” Albert Denoncin, president of the French-speaking bakery federation, told La Premiere radio. “We can do it for a while, but when I hear from the World Bank management that this will last until 2024, we are not going to make it.”
In Spain, truckers have gotten some relief on diesel prices thanks to government emergency measures, including a small rebate and permission to pass along higher fuel costs to customers.
Still, the burden is high. Óscar Baños, who drives his own cargo trailer out of the central Spanish town of Palencia, said tires have risen from 400 to 500 euros, a new truck cab is up from 100,000 to 120,000 euros, and a liter of diesel has risen from 1.20 to 1.90 euros in the past year. That’s the equivalent of a gallon of gasoline rising from $4.80 to $7.60.
“There is a lot of uncertainty, not just in our sector but across the board,” Baños said.
Europe’s auto market also is facing price hikes as factory shutdowns in Ukraine, sanctions on Russia and an existing global semiconductor shortage crimp supplies of components needed to make cars.
As a result, average new car prices in Europe are expected to rise $500 to $2,000 this year, according to Nishant Mishra, associate director of investment research at Acuity Knowledge Partners.
Back in Milan, the roundabout is just one of half a dozen non-EU-funded sites Ronzoni has had to close in recent months. He finds himself unable to deliver the work at the contracted prices.
High costs mean companies are not bidding to take on public works, including a bridge in Rome that was to be the first project built with EU recovery funds. With bidding stalled, the money earmarked for infrastructure — worth nearly half of the 220 billion euros from the EU — is at risk, along with the jobs it would bring, according to ANCE National Association of Construction Workers.
The government has announced 3 billion euros to help cover increased prices, but builders it’s not sufficient, with costs up an average of 40%, but sometimes much higher. Iron prices, for example, are up 170%, Ronzoni said.
“It’s exponential,″ he said.

The Printing Office - Built 1820-1830 - relocated 1850 - It came to the Genesee Country Village & Museum from Caledonia, NY and is now in the Antebellum Village section in the village. The two parts of the Printing Office were once separate shops along the main street of Caledonia. They were moved in 1850, and joined to a larger house. There the one served as the dining room and the other as the kitchen. The Greek Revival front portion dates from about 1835; the rear section is older, c.1820. In 2002, the Printing Office was converted to that of an abolitionist newspaper, patterned after the American Citizen, first published in Warsaw and Perry, NY. Now a little bit of history: A rural village was fortunate if there was a printer in its midst, particurlary if the printer had the temerity and energy to print a newspaper. The printer was fortunate if he gained enough subscribers to support the paper and he was particularly lucky if at least some of the subscribers paid in cash. The bargaining instinct was strong in country settings. Advertisers and subscribers alike were prone to bring the printer garden or orchard products, a chicken or maple trees in exchange for notices of a cow for sale, a horse that had strayed, a new arrival of merchandise at the store or a new line of printed cottons at the drapers. A bushel of apples, perhaps, was good for a six-months subscription to the weekly newspaper, which carried advertisements on all four pages, legislative reports, poetry, anecdotes, letters from abroad and month-old "news" and editorials reprinted from distant and foreign papers. Whether it was putting together a newspaper or printing broadsides and handbills, the printer set the type and well-worn woodcuts by hand. The printer's equipment consists of a mid-19th-century Washington type press, several cases of old typefaces and woodcuts, a proof press and many other early items gathered from area print shops. Unfortunately, the day Jim and I were there, the Printing Office was closed. I so wanted to see the old printing presses - maybe next time. The Genesee Country Village & Museum is located at 1410 Flint Hill Road (George Street) in Mumford, NY.

This was an old letter to all subscribers dated 3rd September 1979, informing of Telecom's programme to upgrade and modernise the national telephone network with the aim to improve the telephone service. This upgrading programme began from 1979 till 1985 through out the whole island. I am glad that my parents had given to me including the booklet as well. :)
